This cover is f*cking awesome! Wow. There’s the original song then this!
This one of those rare recordings which I think is better than the orignal.
wot
It's a great cover for sure, but definitely not better than the original.
Dude was absolutely on fire vocally, then he rips out the solo! Insane talent all round.
True dat
I hate covers... but this is the good shit!
excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely KICK ASS cover!! Bravo!! And, I LOVE the Mike McDonald original so, I thought . . OK . . I'll see what they can do with it. Nailed it . .and more!!
Time will tell...
Long long time Doobie fan since seeing them in college in 1970. This is not an easy song to play..This band flat out rocks.
David G Sperry...lucky you to have seen the Doobies. One band i never managed to see live. At my college in the 70s a top live band performed almost every weekend. Maidstone, England printing and art college. Still i can listen to the Hindleys great version, or my CD in the car, or on a 'long train running'
This song is hook after hook and very difficult to nail. I think I like this version over the original recording. It's sounds like a version that could be on a modern album. The mixing is amazing.
Very first serious band I had ever seen in concert. In Fredericton New Brunswick about 1976 or thereabouts.
One my all time favourite bands as well. Seen them 3 times now. The last time at Deniliquin Blues Festival when it was on where we got to meet them all. What a fabulous open air that was. John Mayer, Steve Earl, Dr.John, Met them all. They finished their sets and we got to talk to them after. So sad it never lasted more than 3 years. Didn't like Michael McDonalds contribution to the Doobies though. They turned into a pop band and lost that edge but man they sure got it back at Deni. They came down from Byron to do their one night set.
Great song! But they were playing it way to fast. Love the band though.
This is one of the most impressive songs that HSCC has put out. Not an easy song to sing and yet it is performed to perfection...IMO
Yeah you wake up in the morning and you think yeah I can sing then you watch this and hear Dusty and think ‘yeah na’
Spot on!
@@robhum3z dude, that guy is nuts. holy crap.
You should check out their Boston tribute. Another amazing piece!
completely agree, it’s amazing!!!!
The sound quality on this is crazzzyyy - throw on some headphones anybody reading this
Okay wow I wasn't expecting you to just NAIL this
If this band doesn't give you the chills, something wrong. This is the best cover band I've ever heard, rock on!
For me the definitve version of this song is Aretha Franklin.
I agree.
Dusty did an excellent lead on "Layla" by HSCC.
@@Tocimah Yes and also The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. You have to see him singing that one!
Nailing a Michael Macdonald vocal without just copying him is a sign of extreme vocal talent.
You got that right
Stellar vocals
Ehi sei forte
/100/
I second that.
Nothing short of AWESOME!
what a voice Dusty has, outstanding !!!
What the hell did I just watch? Are you kidding? This singer even brought out a jacket from this era..... fantastic. Im listening to this from some cheap headphones but tomorrow, I think im goona hook this into my theater room room with a real system and just hit play all from this page. Everything is absolutely killer.
Their musicality is stratospheric. Incredible is too small a word!
These guys are the goods times 1000.
You got a whole speaker room?!? That’s epic bro! 🤙
@@johnfitzgeraldkennedy5265 I have a 550 sq ft movie room, 7.2 surround sound. I had to seal doors because too much air was moving....lol
It's impossible to stop listening to this song, guys..
Once again, a stellar rendition. This band is "all that and a bag of chips".....Raise your hand if you knew Michael Jackson sang background on this for the D.Brothers🙂🙂🙂
Unfortunately, that's not correct. Michael Jackson told Elizabeth Taylor that he did during a phone call that was being recorded, but Pat Simmons of the Doobies said that it never happened; although he thought Michael would have done it if they had asked him because he was good friends with the band.
The consistent brilliance of this band is a joy to my ears - Those harmonies!
Bloody hell HSCC you did it again, love to see what you could do with China Grove.
And a joy to the eyes ;-)
Definitely‼️💯👏👏👏👏👏
@@martinh9120 yes agreed please get this dude to do China Grove or Darkeyed Cajun Woman🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
And the mix is always superb!
One of the all-time classic tunes done superbly in the HSCC style! Dusty sang the hell out of it AND he made his axe sing too!
wtf vocal. so insanely good.
HSCC is my favorite band in 2020.
They’re good
And Leonid & Friends
@@fjbtube6278 leonid is great
theres only a few bands in this world that not only covers the song but the soul of the song as well. HSCC covers it all
Absolutely
In some instances better than the original

Dusty Stephensen has a amazing vocal talent !!
Watch him sing The Chain by Fleetwood Mac... incredible also.
Can't stop playing it. They really nailed the original version while revitalizing and making it sound fresh.
Well said!!!
Might be my new favorite version ❤❤❤
This guy's vocals are absurd. The Voice finalist tier.
Спой лучше. Завидуешь?
You would think that this was their song. They do this with every song they play!
This band is so consistently off the scale. Imagine going to see them live - class personified - I love them
HSCC, any news on the concert scene for the USA? Can't wait to see you all!!
God I wish I could see them live.
@patrick kerrigan.
That would be EPIC.

Too much talent in a single video... I can't handle.
The Bassist always stays the same!! Love that guy
He is The great Con Delo.
I could listen to 1:16 - 1:31 on repeat for hours and not get bored. I might be crazy but I think it sounds better than the original.
Good backing vocais!
I just admire you, you are a treasure trove of talents! Daren, Con your team is superstars! I love you and look forward to meeting you again! Thank you for the joy that you give us! Take care of yourself, you are our treasure 👍🎹🎸🎤 ❤️🌟✨❗❗❗🇺🇦
Please please bring Dusty back for some new tunes!
Every comment has expressed what is perfection about this presentation. I hope you all realise the joy you bring to everyone with your musical abilities, your passion, your creativity and the obvious enjoyment you have in entertaining your fans. Add to that you all live in my hometown . So proud. 💗😎😁🥂🍾🥇
You said that so well! I envy that you can see them live -- can't wait until they perform in the USA!
Robin Piller I am yet to see them live Robin. I live interstate and we are in semi lockdown because of Covid and I can't cross the border just yet. I think they have a live concert in October in Adelaide, so hopefully I can get there. In any event, I love that I can dance around the house while glancing at their RUclips vids!
@@robinpiller2 I'll fly there if they don't get here first! :) Luckily I have their three albums on iTunes to listen to when I'm not on RUclips!
I wish they were from my home town, Spokane Washington
@@theglowskingirl, ahhh, sorry to hear this. Visited Australia in 2012 -- the Sunshine Coast in QLD so I know the country is huge. People don't realize that the USA could fit inside of Australia! It was a great trip! Once pandemic eases, hope they come to perform in Las Vegas or closer!
This is so addictive to watch and listen to.
Great guitar solo.👍
I’m absolutely in love with this band
HSCC.. You guys are not just Down Under... You're Over The Top... Just great 👍👍👍
All I can say is WOW!!!
Whatever "it" is.....Dusty has "it", He gives, and feels his songs 100% EVERY time. The back up singers know it too. I really admire him. Another great job by all! :)
Oh man, Dusty is awesome. Huge talent.
Why is he/the Wanderers not MASSIVE?
Dusty is brilliant and a real star performer
One of the best covers I've heard of any song.
it is a luxury to have backing vocals like this ... 3 great singers .... what a good band !!! Greeting from Brazil 👋🏻🤣🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Is there nothing these guys can’t sing amazing
Tremendous vocals- good lord.
I’ve never heard him sing, he’s great! Super guitar player as well.😇
Incredible...and very very very perfect!! guys you rock it!!! wonderfull song with the wonderfull band!!
Why can’t all new music be like this and actually have some soul, unlike most of today’s music
Great artists nowadays are hidden in the indie scene since the younger generation prefer the mainstream pop. Very sad
I'm 54 and totally agree with you growing up in the 80's but if you were born in this generation, you wouldn't think that.
Yes!!!🙌
Cos today's music is bona fide shit apart from a bit of VGFleet.
How has our world gone to such hell that WAP is something that even exists, let alone tops our charts.
I don't know whos enjoying this more, me hearing this dude sing and play or the backup singer, really bad ass. Incredible backing vocals too
Wow! That takes some beating, fabulous
OMG. This is one of my all time favourite songs. Great kicking version. Love the tempo. Loving the harmonies. Just brilliant. This will be big in the US.
I was wondering what the lead vocalist Dusty was going to do with that guitar... was not disappointed. Also it seems the more covers of this classic Doobie Brothers number the quicker the tempo. Nice :)
Best cover of this song I've seen on YT
"What a Fool Believes" was one of the few non-disco No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 during 1979. The song lyrics tell a story of a man who is reunited with an old love interest and attempts to rekindle a romantic relationship with her before discovering that one never really existed.🥀
Ridiculously good. The vocals were on point and that solo was no joke. Excellent, people. I'd like to hear some original work. You guys are wonderful.
This is Dusty's band's RUclips channel. You won't be dissapointed.

Doobie Bros grooves sooo good. Please record more!
This is just as good as the Doobies themselves so Wow. Awesome. No more to be said. Nailed it.
Outside of the Doobie's themselves, this is the GREATEST cover of "What a fool believes" EVER!
I'm a retired studio engineer, from Vancouver BC, I've heard countless bands over my time, TRY and fail. Doobie's at the worst of times are a hard band to cover
@@ivarwinter3049 listen to the Doobie Others tribute band
💯👍👍
I've heard the Doobie Brother's Live & at the Concert I attended, they sounded dreadful. Any Band/Artist, is only as a good as their last Live Performance, because anyone can sound perfect in a Studio.
The main issue with the Doobie Brothers, IMHO, was their terrible Audio Engineer, it was hard to clearly distinguish vocals, because they were drowned out by Drums/Bass/Guitar. That's a lazy Audio Engineer, or a probably deaf one. Proof of theory, the band Foreigner played after them, with a different Audio Engineer & he did an amazing job & Lou Gramm's voice was perfect, it was such a pleasure to hear him in his prime.
They made the song their own very well, but the chorus part didn't work well for me. 😊
What a great rendition of a Doobie Bros classic !! The vocal was pristine 👏👏👏
Brilliant - I watch this almost daily and many times when I do, such a great cover.
I've listened and loved the original of this song for 30 years, but this cover simply smashes it! Cant stop watching it. how cool it must be to play in this band. Awesome
Exactly! They are the best cover band.
Michael McDonald is not difficult to eclipse. I'm amazed that the Doobies survived him, but strangely enough, some of their very best work included Michael. *shrug* maybe it's just me. However, Michael has been featured singing in a 'has been' band lately. That should make a statement.
This is Tidal quality.
I can't stop saying your sound engineer is freaking good.
The performance of the band is a given. Flawless as always.
@Carlos Turcios Olivera. Indeed! Mr. Dave Mullan (HSCC’s co-founder with Mr. Constantine Dello , the forever laying it down bassist), is an UNDOUBTED GENIUS SOUND ENGINEER. Mr. Mullan is in his own stratosphere of producing.
KT
I totally agree on Darren. Man!!!! You're good. For mixing and mastering you are my new pinnacle to reach.
Agreed - the recording and mixing are top notch.
One of the best renditions ever.
Awesome band !!!!
I don't know who is that lady in chorus but I love how she feel the rhythm and how she dance. She is amazing 😍 She done the same in "Everywhere" song
she's the lovely and ultra-talented Kat Jade... 😍
That dude has a voice! Holy cow!
Wow .. There’s no one doing better covers .. Fossils and Foxes at their best are close to perfect but I’m blown away by these cats
Congratulations Hindley Street Country Club for achieving 175,000 subscribers and nearly 45 million views. I’m sure both Phil’s would give this a big thumbs up and mr Stuermer would give the guitar solo a thumbs up too

Amazed by how they nailed this ..they should stage Glastonbury next year
That’s a voice to die for!
I'm from Ireland, and lived in Adelaide years ago. The music scene there is unbelievable for the size of the city. We're not so bad here in Dublin too, Aja, the Stelly Dan tribute are brilliant. I was really looking forward to going to Oz this coming Feb if the unspeakable calms down, and hopefully get a fix of live music in Adelaide.
Thankyou! You are so right. Always has had a great scene. Miss it so much.
Am I the only one who found themselves entertained by WATCHING the vivacious Kat Jade for almost the entire video, while at the same time LISTENING to Dusty, and the band?
It was like watching the old 'American Bandstand', where you got to hear great music....and enjoy some movin' and groovin' by some easy on the eyes ladies, who were obviously having a great time :) Kudos, guys!
No you're not the only one ; loved the performance and also loved the spirited personality of Kat -probably my 15th time of enjoying the whole thing . When the harmonies kick in it's an even more beautiful thing then the solo with great tones etc. Cheers
Uumm...I bet you're not the only person being captivated by Kats' dancing in the background even though Dusty's singing is off the hook!
Shure you are not alone, very good singer in the background, nice little, gorgueus Lady dancing for US.
Nothing sexier than a woman with rhythm.
Band?
The bass line in the original is fine, but Constantine Delo's arrangement here adds a tonne of feeling and groove and helps the other instruments to shine. That pre-chorus is out of this world, thanks to Constantine.
This song is beyond classic.
It is a one and only.
HSCC is an awesome cover band. I find this band takes the original music, uses exceptional artists, adds their own small but effective interpretation and brings to life all the old favorites.
Absolutely!!
Can't stop watching absolutely fantastic 👏
Dang!! The musicianship of this group is always spectacular, but then there's the engineering and production, just beyond belief really. You can sort of "luck up" now and then, but with these guys it's always. Me thinks it's not luck lol!

Anyone who can sing even a passable Michael Macdonald is a great singer in my book. Dusty here decides that he's going to absolutely burn it up! Holy crap who does this guy think he is? Lol. Seriously you all... what a killer cover! Come on, Man!!! Greatest cover band I've ever heard!
Absolutely stunning singing, Michael MacDonald must be proud well done love from the UK
Great Vocal
This is one of the greatest sounding covers of any band I've ever heard, and to do it to THIS song no less. Everything is A+, those harmonies, perfect arrangement, the rhythm section is so locked in, and of course... the singer is out of this world and puts his own life into it. And THEN just to top it off you suddenly realize he's had a guitar this whole time and rips a gorgeous solo!
And then rocks it out at the end 🎸🎤🎶🔥🙌
This song is simply amazing it cheers me up when i hear it! Musicians at the top of their game.
Thanks for cheering me up!
geez this song always tears me up. great version! the Michael McDonald version is hard to beat :)
