At this point his nasal quality becomes part if his STYLE. As such he was a major part if the band's success. He's not the most likeable guy in the world but he exhibits strength. Because he is strong. It's not so easy going out there in stage for almost 60 years. Playing the same songs you've heard so many times that you think that you'll get ill in stage. But then the audience comes alive & everything feels great. Then think about all the damned bastards in the music business who won't play your records because they want a "new" group. Love has become a lot like his uncle Murry Wilson. He kind of had to. Basically? If Mike Love wasn't running the show there would be no Beach Boys. But like everyone else... I despise what he did to his cousin Brian.

One of my favourite early Beach Boys songs. Bruce did a good version in the 70's. I'm not a Mike Love fan, especially for the way he has disrespected Brian, BUT I have to admit he could sing. I like Carls' vocals more. Overall, one of the best groups ever. Us Brits only had The Beatles and Stones to come anywhere close.
He was punched in the throat during a fight with I think Stan Love and Rocky Pamplin over giving Brian drugs. On top of that he smoked like a chimney and was shovelling truckloads of cocaine into his body
he also got karate chopped in the throat by a nightclub bouncer in ‘74. Also, dude just loved shouting. Not the sort to have a quiet night in with some lemsip
