Excellent thunderstorm video, with awesome CG lightning. I managed to freeze frame the strike that occured at 3:00 and catch a few screenshots of it at various stages. The main strike seemed to either just behind or hit the building you were in, as the before the strike you see the whole area is whited out and then lit up like daylight, before the strike you see which looks to be just a few feet away from you. That was very close indeed. It also then seems to trigger other arcing branches off as you pan round.

3:03 screw that something got hit i commend you young lady's for this footage i paused the footage of the bolt it hit the side walk that's what caused the zapping sound it made your lucky you where not out side at all very very lucky great job staying brave and recording after that i have a video of a storm i caught just as bad as this one lots of loud thunder and lighting
I'll tell ya, I think that bolt we see in the center of the screen at that time was so close to connecting to the ground but it connected elsewhere. It could have been real bad.
just so you know, that bolt did not hit that sidewalk. It was a reflection on the lens of the real bolt that hit on the right of the screen. If it really did hit there it would have been even more instant thunder and more loud
I remember when I was growing up and there was Heavy Thunderstorms and Rain(Down Pour) and Lightning. Yes it is Scary, but we would go Outside with our home made Paper Boat's and see how far it would go down stream. I'm born and raised in Hawaii 😎 and Yeah I agree Lighting is 💯 percent Dangerous. Ok so at 3:00 mins in you do realize you were almost struck by lightning ! The safer thing would to have not been outside take it from someone who has been struck it's no fun i was joking around until flash boom i was on the ground.
Just because there may be a lot of frequent lightning, doesn’t make for a “severe” thunderstorm. Did the thunderstorm have 60 mph winds or greater? Was there hail approximately golfball size or greater? (1in diameter +) If so, then you can legitimately call it a “Severe Thunderstorm” Still, a really nice looking thunderstorm none the less.
Rad lightning & loved the thunder! Thanks for not "muffling" the thunder. A lot of people muffle the thunder, I don't know why, it sounds cool.
