The removable railing is definitely original. The golf platform on a deck is uber original. The metal spindles on the second floor is a nice match. Agreed, 16" oc is worlds better than 24" oc for the long run as well as the stainless steel screws.
Totally fabulous April, everything about it is stunning and just rewards for all your amazing hard work all these years. "Well done" hardly covers it!!!
April this is amazing of you...I am over here floored by your awesome talents. There isn't anything I don't love and those hiding spaces need to be a national thing with people creating them for people who can't or choose not to build it for themselves. Like who wouldn't want to build it for themselves, because if you can anyone can. You truly are my HERO!
Thanks! Yes, there is nothing special about me. I started not knowing anything and built on my beginner experience and confidence, learning from mistakes and could then start doing more complex builds. If I can, anyone can. Thanks for watching.
OH HECK YEAH! Now, that is a beautiful outdoor living & entertainment area with a primo golf platform. Are you kidding? Wow! Such great ideas, removable rails, taking advantage of your slope with the extra storage shed. And those drawers! Gorgeous wood & craftsmanship! 😮 Woo Hoo! 🎉❤
April, you did a fantastic job building that deck. Plus the great job with the ballasters, the drawers and the storage for your mower. Beautifully done. Congratulations
Your deck build series has been nothing but amazing! This has been an inspiration to me in my recent deck and porch projects. Thanks for all you do, your technical support and amazing input!
Following since the " blogging" beginnings so enjoy how much you have accomplished and the dreams that are reality. Thank you @wilkerdo, thank you @aprilwilkerson thank you @YOU! 🎉😍
Thanks for a great series on your deck build. My wife and I watched this episode together and she especially likes the removable railings to hit the golf balls. Stay safe and have lots of fun out there. Keep up the great videos. Fred.
I have been watching you for a while now and thank you for your information about the projects you are showing. You make me want to get out into my wood shop! Take care and see you on your next video!
There’s awesome - then there’s APRILSOME!!!! Absolutely love the build and the ideas included therein. Looking to make some of those drawers for under the house. Can’t wait to see the “swanky cool retractable net” you devise. Continue the epicness.
wow have been in the residential remodel business all of my life....45 plus years and that is 1 impressive design and application always a joy to watch your channel Jason
4:51 You should build a wooden wall box, with a glass front, that says "Break In Case of Fire" on the glass. Inside the box, place a stick with a marshmallow on it. =) Fun Fact: Top Golf Golf Balls have an RFID Chip in each one! This is how the balls are used for scoring.
This series came out at the perfect time as I am delving into my own first deck. (12x24 covered). I picked up 8 feet span decking because it was on a fire sale and your dividers were the perfect solution for my situation. The under deck storage and the drawers are simply inspiring and watching your walkway potion inspired me to make one along the front of my deck and replicate my parent's garden they were so proud of when they were alive. I'm excited about the build and the ideas you inspire. You're an amazing person, builder, and content creator. All the luck to you in all of your future endeavors. Sincerly someone who NEVER comments on youtube videos but felt this was a MUST.
THANKS APRIL,🤗 WE LOVE ❤️ EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE…ESPECIALLY THAT YOU DO NOT CUT CORNERS, FOR SOMETHING THAT IS SO USEFUL AND FOR MANY YEARS TO COME AND THAT YOU HAVE A CHANNEL THAT ALLOWS YOU TO DO IT AND SHARING WITH US ALL 👍😎💚💚💚
Years ago, we had a deck built on the back of our house. We planned to barbeque as often as possible, so my Mother suggested to the builder to put in a gas line from the house to the outer edge of the deck. When we moved in, we could barbeque using the LP that the house was running on. Not many people can say they have a 500lb LP tank for their barbeque. Years later, when natural gas became available, a simple part switch (which the Gas Company did) and we had a Natural Gas barbeque. Sweet!
Amazing deck! Golf tip - the bottom of the swing should be on the target side of the ball. Use a spot about 1-2” in front of the ball to look at instead of the ball. Make some practice swings as you normally would with the ball in the center of your swing but try to have the bottom of your swing on the target side parallel to your spot (1-2”). Your natural athleticism will automatically adjust to the change after 5-10 swings. If on grass, use a tee positioned 1-2” target side of the center of your swing. Keep trying to clip the tee with the bottom of your swing. Then add a ball - eventually put the tee and ball center of stance, while looking 1-2” target side. Have fun - and really like your low score keeper!
I think your dad likes the tee as much as you do! Loved watching the series. I've been a fan for several years now and have enjoyed watching your progress and projects. Keep up the good work!
He really does! He loves coming over and we hit some balls, sometimes playing a game, cook out and overall visit. Thanks for watching and for staying along for the ride.
I love the tank pool best so long as you have a good water source. Maybe build a windmill next great look and useful as well. You did a fantastic job. Thank you for sharing.👍
Your deck looks so cool 😎… I love the removable railings and the pool 🏊♂️… the hidden storage is a very nice idea to utilize the space under the deck. Great job!!! Enjoy!!! ☺️👍🐈
April, you are amazing. This is such and inspiration. I've watch your channel for years and your skills in building, story telling and business acumen has grown to amazing heights. Thank you for sharing your talents! Here's to many more amazing videos!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this creative deck build series. You think of fun, out of the box ideas which makes it fun for me to watch and learn from you April! 😃👏⛳️
April, absolutely awesome series, your family must be so proud of what you have achieved on this journey. All you vlogs are so informative its refreshing. Keep up the good work please !!
Impressive!!! As a golfer, I would have to say...I love your Tee Box Deck as well! What a great Idea. Looking forward to what ya'll are fixing to do next!
I’ve been watching you since early on when you would spend half your video trying to figure out which end of the nail to hit with the hammer. You’ve come a long way. Thanks for taking us along the journey.
Well, even as a beginner, I knew which end of the nail to hit, but I get what you were saying. I never put on airs, always showed my mistakes (still do) and learned from them. I built on my experience and confidence and now feel I can tackle any project I choose. Thanks for staying along for the ride.
Might be worth while looking at setting up a decent sized net to act as a target for your range?? So you don’t have to go rooting around the snakey bushes every night, you can just collect them from the net Similar to the set up they use in top golf, guarantee you can make something that looks 10 times better for a fraction of the cost
In the video, I address that I have a large net that catches the balls for swinging all the clubs. The area the balls land out by my garden and Shop, I am walking out there all the time anyway so it's no problem walking with my shag bag to collect them. Thanks for watching.
Thank you April, I've been watching your wonderful videos for years now and love all of your incredable skills and abilitys . Please keep it up. A BIG FAN
I really like how you painted the post black to hide them against the darkness of under the deck , the whole build is awesome but the spindle system is most attractive
Awesome! Yes, I try to mix it up. Some only want to see the more complex builds or think I'm slacking. Others only want to see beginner skill projects and complain I'm no longer a DIY. Sure is hard to please everyone. :) Thanks for watching.
Quite an interesting alternative project. Question, do you retrieve your golf balls and if so, HOW? Thank you April. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace
Yes, I addressed this in the video. They land out beside my raised garden and shop area. I just walk down with my golf ball shag bag when bucket is empty and it picks them up quickly. Thanks for watching.
Every aspect/feature of the deck turned out great April, awesome job! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 ..... I wonder if I just throw out the Idea of a golf ball collecting drone, will someone in the maker community see this comment and make it? 🤔 ... Happy Father's Day Rick, you've done good! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
A very nice presentation and skills required for your projects are first rate. I need ideas for a golf course mini bleacher deck for just a few people during city events. 😊
I addressed in the video I have a large net to catch the full swing of all the clubs but I enjoy the walk out to my raised garden and Shop to collect the others with my golf shag bag. Thanks for watching.
That is the ultimate entertaining deck i have ever seen, especially the driving range. April, i do not see your dogs anymore from the video from your old place when you made them a wading pool, i do see a new dog now.
The 2 new dogs belong to a friend but I still have my two. They prefer the air conditioned inside rather than the Texas outside heat. Thanks for watching.

What I love is that every single thing about this build is functional

I'm loving the water tank!! The deck looks fantastic April!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Pretty sweet! Did you make a storage solution for the removable rails when the deck is in "golf mode"?!
They could be stored under the deck but I just set them aside to replace after we're through hitting balls. Thanks for watching.
April, absolutely awesome series, your family must be so proud of what you have achieved on this journey. All you vlogs are so informative its refreshing. Keep up the good work please !!

Building a life you can be proud of one project at a time
Thank you for your kind words. And thanks for watching. :)
April, how about putting water misters on the deck to spray down and around your guests on those hot Texas days !
What's next - a system to catch the golf balls? Really enjoy your videos!
I addressed in the video I have a large net to catch the full swing of all the clubs but I enjoy the walk out to my raised garden and Shop to collect the others with my golf shag bag. Thanks for watching.
You're a beast!!!! Love this.
Thanks! It was a lot of hard work but so worth it for the results. Thanks for watching.

A most excellent job!
Awesome deck and some really really cool ideas, thank you for what you do.
Glad you like them!
Oh my! Decktastic.
That looks great, awesome job
Thanks! Glad you like it.
Great as always. Problems 'pushing' your shots?
Pretty cool!! Well done
Now get in that mini pool April !
Would love to see your golf sim setup! 👍⛳
You need a large nut rake(gatherer) for the golf balls. Save the back some and make it a lot quicker.
I have a golf shag bag that you walk and it picks them up. Thanks for watching.
Rec-deck Awesome!
Love golf incorporated and rhe would like to see more of the simulator.
Also I don’t understand the pool details. Is there a fresh water feed line and a drainage line? Filter?
Well implemented. But I would like to see the whole thing after 2.3 years. Greetings MrHandwerk
Very nice great job looks awesome 👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Glad you like it!
