You two are a force to be reckoned with. I was in construction for 20 yrs. Nothing makes me more happy than women who are so capable. I know it's only making frames, floors and a single side sloped roof but there are millions of men out there who cannot do this so it's a big high five to all the women who can. Brilliant work ladies.

I must have watched 40 or more DIY videos from all these construction dudes just trying to decide and learn what type of shed, foundation, and design I wanted. I spent hours on RUclips. Then in about 5 minutes of watching these two gals nail up this little house, I instantly new what I needed to do!. Unbelievable!! Thanks ladies. Well done. 👍👍

Totally awesome! My Gf's daughter and I are going to build a 16x10 tiny house on the other side of our front deck starting this Saturday when she comes home from college for the summer so she's not crashing on our pull out couch when she comes home for long weekends, holidays and summers while she's in school and when she comes home after she graduates to work. We live in Northwest Arizona and she goes to school at UNLV which is an hour and a half away. We decided on 16x 10 because she doesn't need a huge place, just somewhere to sleep, hang out and do her school work and a toilet room. were not putting a big door in hers like you did but we are putting a large window in the back that faces the mountains because she loves the view.

What gauge nails are you using at 3:51 to put those 2x4's together. Was that the only support you were using to keep them together?

Finally, a video that shows women actually building the house instead of standing in front of a finished one and claiming they built it. I really liked watching the leveling process.

Calling this empowerment as if it's something women normally couldn't do is patronizing. Don't you see that?

    • @thoperSought
      @thoperSought 6 лет назад +10

      Perfect P:
_"Calling this empowerment as if it's something women normally couldn't do is patronizing. Don't you see that?"_
I’m willing to consider the possibility that I was unintentionally being patronizing, but as of now I think you’ve parsed what I said incorrectly and in one of the least charitable ways possible.
so, let’s define "empowerment", and see if that resolves the gap here:
as I see it, there’re two states we can describe as *disempowered:* when a person lacks *real power* in society, and when a person *feels like they lack power* in a society.
that may not be the best possible phrasing, but let me give an example: if we had elected Hillary, we would have raised the real power of American women _on average_ by a tiny amount, and the real power of *_one_* American woman by a lot. however, we would have raised the *_perceived_* power of American women in general by a lot.
this would have been a good thing because more women would grow up believing they had some kind of a chance in the world that their mothers didn’t have. in the long run, that would have made a lot more difference than just the increase in Hillary’s personal power.
on that basis, we can take an "empowered woman" to be a woman who is literally empowered, or to be one who feels she has power to accomplish what *she* wants to accomplish in society.
do you disagree with this definition of "empowerment"? I’m not claiming that this is the only definition, or even that it’s the right one, but this is where I’m starting from.
if you don’t disagree substantially, then let’s consider what I actually said: *"empowered women make the world better for everyone."*
please note that I didn’t say anything about the situation, I only mentioned women, and that in general. it’s reasonable, obviously, to infer that I mean that Anne and April are empowered.
if I meant they are like Secretaries of State because they can carry more than one 2x4, then that could be patronizing-but would also clearly be *_stupid_* and literally false-but notice that this depends on the "real power" meaning of empowered.
what I really intended, and what I hope is obvious to Anne and April is that it’s nice to see them doing what *they* want to do and feeling powerful. this depends on the "perceived power" meaning of empowered.
in other words, if you’re getting to the conclusion that I’m being patronizing based on the "real power" meaning, then you’re starting with the inference that I’m stupid.
now, obviously you may be arguing from a different definition of "empowered", but you haven’t shared your definition, just asserted your feeling of offense as fact.
you’re also most likely operating from the inference that I’m a man, which is at least statistically likely.
would it change your interpretation of what I said if you thought I was a woman?

Housebuilders; once you build one, you can never stop building more.
A lifetime of building Houses is usually on the way....
Tiny houses are IN now. Economical residential solutions. Dry, warm, clean, structurally sound, low cost, easy to maintain, takes up less footprint, extremely comfortable and cozy, fun-filled enjoyment living.
These Houses can be equipped with very compact, superbly designed wood stoves that cook and heat, and kerosene lamps. Can also add kerosene cooking burner stoves or mini gas canister stoves. Should you cut more windows and add skylights to the roof, it gives the interior lots of ambient light with less need for electricity lighting. Consider checking to see if you can use a SaniCan (HoneyPot) as an approved outhouse (40 hours by 10 people duration model). The pump out truck is not expensive.
8 55-gallon steel drums can be set up to hold your cooking trap water (also served by pump out trap truck) while your food scrap offal can be composted.
This would be a house totally operating without water or electricity, yet in highest standards of hygiene. Your supply potable water may come in the form of delivered purified water (purified water jug delivery, in up to even 10-gallon jugs). 10 of these will last a long time. You can build a tub-rinse bathtub bathroom inside the house. This the Japanese style bathing where you scrub down first then rinse off with small pails of water. This water can be simply tanker trucked in, usually filling a set of 4 to 8 food-grade plastic 55-gallon drums.
You might want to add a bed of gravel to the ground and jumping-jack compaction it before setting the foundation deck blocks in place.
This was indeed an awesome tiny house build.

The tiny home is built around open space so it has easy access to sunlight. Natural light is mainly used for the home. Stone & wood seem to be the most used material. There is a proportionate amount of windows to the house. I really like how open & solid the structure is.
