    Thank you for the video - I had to use a 24mm socket for the filter

    Nice video for the DIYers. I believe the 2022 GLS450 takes different oil (Mobil 1 ESP X2 Full Synthetic 0W-20)? Maybe it's different where you live? I would recommend spraying brake cleaner on the drain plug once you have it installed and waiting to replace the pan to ensure there are no leaks. It's just easier to see if there is a leak w/o the pan on.

    Don´t see many home service videos that use car ramps, most use car jacks which I think are a pain, ramps are so much easier when you want to get under the car.

    This helps a lot. I could not find any video this detailed for GLS. even resetting the service computer! saves a lot of time not having to bring to a service station or dealer.

    Eric it’s time to tint the front driver and passenger windows to match the rear colored windows. The windshield should have 50 or 35 percent full tint! 😊

    GREAT VIDEO! What was the final oil level reading on yours? Mine says 8.2 qts but I put 9 qts. Anyway, keep making videos, especially GLS videos👍

    I followed your video and everything went smoothly in the process of replacing the oil. The oil coming out was very dark, and thick which I was suprised seeing the last service was by Mercedes and I wouldn't have expected it to be quite so dark and think. Now the punchiness of the car is more subdued where previously pressing the gas pedal resulted in more immediate torque now you can floor it and the torque kicks in with a delay. The car still ramps to 360-380 HP on the engine info screen, I just never actually had to floor it. I also changed the air filter while doing the oil and kept the OEM air filter which I may swap back to just to test but they were visually identical. I also wondered when I selected oil type in the workshop screen I did like you select 229.52 but I used Mobil 1 European Car 0W-40 which is 229.5 would the electronic engine control result in any noticeable difference? I called my dealer and confirmed the last oil change they did was with 0W-40 so I wasn't changing oil grades.

    I love to use the dipstick extraction method,does the GLS have a dipstick ?

    • @eric400k
      @eric400k  Год назад

      not any more with the latest models. how do you get the bottom dirt flushed out with the extraction method?

    • @dimmacommunication
      @dimmacommunication Год назад +1

      @@eric400k you just start the engine and use it like 2-3 kilometers , they get emulsified in the oil.
      I know cause when filtering it I can see dirt , also I did a flush and the oil was golden colour ( mine is a diesel )

    CAUTION ⚠️ You should always check the oil level with the car level, which I did not think happened, that will lead to false reading’s.
    But a great tutorial 🙂 appreciate!

    • @eric400k
      @eric400k  Год назад

      The video was more about showing how easy to check oil level, not so much about accuracy when the GLS was on the ramp. It is all digital on the dash now with a few clicks of buttons, so owners can check it as often as they like.

    Don’t you think that spending $300 on an oil change would not be a problem for an $80k suv? I have a 2022 GLE-580 and if the oil change cost were a problem, I’d buy a Toyota. Just saying

      Comments like these are really stupid.
      Just because you don’t know a wrench from a screwdriver doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t.
      You like to throw money at everything. He likes to hold a wrench and save money. What’s your business?
      He is also helping others that are equally mechanically inclined. What have you done lately?
      Who is to say he doesn’t have the means to pay and take it to the dealership?
      Look in the background, he has a small wood workshop. It shows he likes to be hands on and make things himself.
      I Bet you’ll say, “if you can afford an $80k car, why not go pay someone to make the furniture/repairs for you?”. Or was your dumb comment just to insert that you have a 2022 GLE-580? Just to inflate your low self esteem?
      I bet you will not pay that same $300 to have someone pump your gas or add fluid to your windshield washer bottle just because you bought a $100k car.
      There are folks that have a lot more $$$ than you and have these cars and also have a dedicated driver. Bet you don’t have one. Maybe you should really get that Toyota if you can’t afford a driver for a $100k car.

      Toyota & Lexus have a section in all owners manual’s on DIY’s…Maybe you should learn something before bragging about your GLE 580. Even Jay Leno works on his cars, dude!

      Saving money is nice, but not the point. Clearly this guy can afford a dealership oil change. Some people rather not spend a couple hours or more at a dealership appointment when they can spend 30 minutes at home on their own schedule. For handy folks who enjoy getting their hands a little dirty, this is a super simple job.
