I also did the same with Caligula Overdose. I bought the anime and watched it after beating the game and man, it's an experience. The only game I've played in May was Death End Request. It's not much, but I mainly dedicated that month to knocking out some anime in my backlog.
I bought Monster Menu and love it, but that's because I specifically love games that let me make custom characters and form my own party which I wish the game went further with. Picked it up on Switch because it's not graphically intensive and VERY well suited for portability. However, yeah, there's very little plot and it's more of a Rogue-like game about obtuse mechanics and insane challenge. Like if you want to cook an egg, you don't go to the cooking menu, you go to the Item menu and choose Prepare. Someone was also saying that if one of your party members dies in combat, you should eat them to gain their EXP?! It's a game for a very specific audience. BUT I love how snappy the combat is, just taking place right there on the spot instantly with players immediately assuming control of the character whose turn it is? I like that a lot.
This month I kept on playing soul hackers and also recently started playing Etrian Odyssey 4 as the release of the HD collection made me want to get started with the series and I already had this one downloaded on my 3ds. They’ve both been quite fun so far, and I’ve been enjoying the map stuff from EO far more than I expected.
Nice! Etrian’s art style is very eye catching; I’ve been hoping to get around to it someday (unfortunately haven’t yet, although I’m happy to see the HD collection). Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! :)
Nice I just finished Etrian Odyssey 4 in April, what an awesome adventure. Post-Game bosses need a bit too much grinding for my taste and there's no easy way to grind except putting a weight on your confirm button... Other that that, really great experience.

I've been playing Trails in the Sky and i'm currently on it's final chapter in the first game, also none jrpg i'm around alittle over midway through Scorn. So i'll be continuing with those until i can hopefully beat them.
The backlog is a curse 😅. Initially I got myself a PS4 to play Tales of Berseria but I finally started it this April 😅 so I'm gonna continue to play this awesome Tales game. Next in line is 13 Sentinels but I don't think I'll be starting it in June.
Yeah 13 Sentinels is one I really need to start. I want to finish Chrono Cross first though. I got JRPG burnout on it though so other non JRPG experiences have been distracting me lately. Even after I’m done with Chrono Cross I’m thinking about doing a smaller JRPG experience next. One that is not as long.
Let's see....Because my job has entered the busy period where I spend more time at work than usual, I haven't been playing a lot of games lately. In what little time off I do get, I've been slowly working on my 2nd playthrough of Octopath Traveler if that counts as I got four stories completed already. I got the other 4 people to the beginnings of their chapter 4's so far. Liking their stories so far. When I want to do a quick gaming session, I have been playing fighting games like Street Fighter 6 and Idol Showdown. IS is fun to play and SF6 has been really impressive with it game modes like World Tour. June didn't have much for me to look forward to for rpgs as I knew I would be busy working, but the some of the extra money will go to Reverie in July along with Sea of Stars and Armored Core 6 in August. Been in a gaming slump lately so besides a bit of Zelda ToTK, i've been pretty much dropping every game in anticipation for Final Fantasy XVI! That is definitely the game i'll sink most of my hours into as i'm slowly getting out of the slump lol. It's always nice seeing your game updates Tara and also i hope you've been doing well also! :)

I have mostly been playing Legend of Dragoon recently. I finished Mato Anomalies and I did finish Trails to Azure but I still don't have the plat for that as the last boss is probably the hardest in any Trails game but I plan to come back to it. Top of my list for next month are Atelier Marie and Trails to Reverie and probably FF16.
Spent May starting the Utawarerumono series with Prelude to the Fallen, played Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch, and Ys7 which has me caught up with the series now. Got a copy of Loop 8 early due to store error shipping it early but only played the tutorial and it unfortunately didn’t really click with me so decided to leave it until later. Now trying to stick to shorter games since Reverie is so close I don’t want to commit to something that will have to get set aside.
Great month! You looks kinda overwhelmed by all these games coming up. I found it funny when you said that trails to reverie's release date "creep up" 😅 cuz i'm exactly in the same boat as you. I plan to replay zero on ps5 then azure. However i wanted to replay all cold steel too before. Only 1/3 into the first one 🥵 I had a busy month playing since i finished xenoblade 1 which was so-so to me.. Platiniumed fuga 1 and 2 (i recommend for ppl who enjoy turn based). I'm playing now soul hackers 2, gonna try to finish it fast. I'm also playing Honkai star rails on the side everyday. We are very busy as gamer 😅 As for ff16, well even watching some footage in your video, i have 0 hype... 😐 Ah and monster menu to me is a game to buy on sale. Loop 8 looks very cosy but reviewers are saying the same cons so i hope to see your input on this game soon 😁
Well done, you played a lot! Particularly well done for Fuga, I will be trying to keep 2 in the back of my mind for as long as I can. That’s probably part of the overwhelming feeling I guess, both trying to savor the games I play while also wanting to play everything. It’s a balance I think it’s only so possible to be good at with life and a love of a genre of long games 😅 Loop8 is another one of those games I’ll try to remember! Last month i finally finished Phantasy Star I because I got sucked into the SMSpower retranslation/QoL patch😂 then finished my overly long Super Robot Wars 30 playthrough and immediately started new game + to do the earth route (and get the last steam achievement) then got rona, which made me play Final Fantasy I Pixel remaster because i felt too bad to do anything more involved. When I finally got better i had to jam out the Fate/Gramd Order Summer event rerun and now the next big story chapter is out which will probably be a good chunk of my gametime this month if Kinoko Nasu's claims about the size of the script are at all accurate.
Unfortunately in my JRPG journey has got way more clogged recently. No newly finished games, in progress now are - ryza 2, trails to zero, zelda TOTK, Grandia 1, wild arms 1, shining resonance refrain, ff4. Why do I only add games to my jrpg backlog lol. Hopefully can make a good jump in June !
I dived back into Mary Skelter Nightmares last month while waiting for the DLC for Ryza 3. I'm so frustrated that Blue Reflection Sun isn't out in the West as of yet and as far as I can see no word on it coming out here, to say the least I want to play it really badly.
I feel the same frustration, I want to make a big video on it but it feels kinda unfair since it's only in Japanese right now. I really hope a good company picks it up and gives it a good localisation (but I emphasise good, cause smartphone games tend to get somewhat questionable localisations unfortunately >

I actually had no idea the English version of Atelier Online was shutdown, but yeah, just googled and tried to login and it is lol that’s a little sad, I liked it (although, I was worried it was gonna be the only version of it we had after the JP version got shutdown - the more I played, the worse the localization got so yeah lol) But yeah, that’s what I mean lol if these mobile JRPGs are gonna come West, they need good support - whether promotion or just acceptance that it will be a niche audience, which I imagine Sun would be. My fingers are crossed everyone can try it :)
I know Square Enix is busy, but I would like a new The World Ends With You game... I finished AI the Somnium Files in May and got... Iunno, about a 1/3 of the way through Digimon Survive and then Cassette Beasts released on Switch and I've played that ever since. I put a staggering number of hours into that game in a very short amount of time...
I had a look at Cassette Beasts thanks to your comment, looks interesting :3 probably scratches the monster collecting itch a little better (I still wanna finish Digimon Survive, but it's definitely slower) And I would love a new TWEWY so much too :3 no idea what's next for that series, but it would be awesome. May was a pretty light month for me, I spent more time on some creative writing projects, but I did put a pretty big dent in Tales of Vesperia, I'm pretty close to the final dungeon! I also got the sudden impulse to start Dot Hack Infection on PS2, which I spent a good bit of time with and was reminded just how fun this classic series is. I don't think a PS5 is gonna fall into my lap in the next couple weeks, so my plans for June, aside from Tears of the Kingdom, are likely going to involve some PSone games I've always wanted to finish!
I'm so disappointed in what I've seen of Loop 8 :( Many of the complaints people have about it (PARTICULARLY that If you fail a loop, you can't skip through or even fast forward dialogue you've already read) have completely killed any interest I have in it, not to mention that it's really more of a visual novel than a JRPG. I am SO excited for Final Fantasy XVI! People who don't want to buy it because of the combat are TOTALLY entitled to their opinion, but I don't think we're ever going to get a $150m turn based JRPG. I'd LOVE to be wrong though. That, and it's been a while since we've had an action RPG of that stature!

games I played in May; 100%ed Saints Row The Third(non-Remastered). Was pretty time-consuming since I also played it through with a friend for the co-op achievements 100%ed NAIRI: Tower of Shirin. Was a pretty fun point-and-click adventure game. I primarily use guides for games like that since the appeal for me isn't the gameplay, its the dialogue and story so bear that mindset in mind Was picking away at it for the last few months but I finally got 100% of the achievements in the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer Mod. The playerbase is like a ghost town so the achievements CAN be a bit difficult unless you assemble a group of people going for the achievements. Some of them require you to do something that requires 3-5 people and there's an achievement which requires you to be in a club that's on a blimp in the sky(the "Mile High Club") with 20 other people and the one that I was picking at for the past few months is the achievement for having been on the server for a month(or more accurately, 43829 minutes, which comes out to about 730 hours or 30.4 days). 100%ed Tested On Humans: Escape Room. Pretty difficult escape room game. Those are the games I 100%ed in May, but there are some games that I played in May that I didn't get that juicy 100%. Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas I put down because I think I may have missed my chance to get the best sword in the game since I can't find the character I talk to get access to the island I need. Xblaze Code: Embryo I started but have barely touched as well as Kingdom Rush, and Octodad: Dadliest Catch. I played a significant amount of One Finger Death Punch and I did make achievement progress, but I don't think I'll be able to get the higher-end survival achievements that require me to kill 7000, 6500, 6000 enemies in Survival, Blind Survival and No Luca No Survival Modes. I also played more Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, but that game is more of a long-term thing. Consider I've played for 263 hours and have fulfilled roughly 375 orders and sold a little over 100 cars. There's still achievements I need to get for fulfilling 750 orders, 1500 orders, and selling 1000 cars. The other achievements I don't keep track of as closely since progress will be made on them in the process of going for those 2 categories of achievements. Having listened to enough songs, unscrewed enough bolts, balanced enough tires and such.

Knocked out Final Fantasy 1-4 in the Pixel Remaster collection. Really hoping to finish 5 and 6 before 16 drops, but it's looking unlikely 😓

I played a significant amount of One Finger Death Punch and I did make achievement progress, but I don't think I'll be able to get the higher-end survival achievements that require me to kill 7000, 6500, 6000 enemies in Survival, Blind Survival and No Luca No Survival Modes.
I also played more Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, but that game is more of a long-term thing. Consider I've played for 263 hours and have fulfilled roughly 375 orders and sold a little over 100 cars. There's still achievements I need to get for fulfilling 750 orders, 1500 orders, and selling 1000 cars. The other achievements I don't keep track of as closely since progress will be made on them in the process of going for those 2 categories of achievements. Having listened to enough songs, unscrewed enough bolts, balanced enough tires and such.
Your dedication to 100%ing these is incredible, well done! The server one and that car one sound wild :3 good luck this month too! ^__^
@@JRPGJungle This month I've done plenty, but I'm not going as ham on the alphabet challenge since I only have X left and I only have 9 games that start with X(In case it wasn't obvious, I was trying really hard to 100% a game that starts with O last month, which I achieved this month).
