    These amps come with sensitive gain. If anyone is having issues try dialing back the gain knob. I never have mine go past 9 o’clock. Of course clean power is a factor but this to me sounds like too much gain.

    I was just reading that swapping out the pre-amp tubes with Mullard CV4004/12AX7 makes the noise issue way better. I'm going to call around and see if i can verify this.

      When I play live I don’t think the power is ever clean. Most of the time I am grounded because I run a power conditioner. It’d be nice if EVH Fender would have put a dedicated noise gate for channel 3.

    Treat every dial like it is a gain dial except for presense. This has sweet spots even between 1 and 2 on Low, mids and highs. Everything at noon is even like gain dialed fully in. Too much gain on tap across every dial!

    Hey, I hope you see this but I have the same amp. Without a noise gate on Channel 3 with the gain up to 1 o'clock and the volume at 9 - 10 I get a lot of squeal and feedback if I let my hands off the strings at all. Is that similar to yours or is it a problem with mine specifically? The same is true with the blue channel if I kick on the Boost pedal. I haven't had an amp with this much gain on tap in the past and am looking to find out what is normal or what could be problem. If I gate it, it's fine but I am curious if it's a problem with the amp. Other videos I see of people playing it are just sitting there dialing settings without a gate that I can see...

    • @XxSypherxX91
      @XxSypherxX91  5 лет назад +2

      Travis Laack Yeah all the EVH Amps are like that. Whenever I use this amp live I don’t even run an overdrive pedal through the front anymore. Instead I’ll use a graphic EQ in the effects loop for solos because I like using the red channel so much. After a while you just have to put up with the noise. It gets irritating running two noise gates and it sucks the life out of your clean tone. Just a constant battle.

    • @travis3656
      @travis3656 5 лет назад +1

      AR Stubbs Sonthe squealing right when I let off the strings is normal at the settings I indicated? If so looks like I might need another noise gate!

      @@XxSypherxX91 yeah I'm trying to use my quad cortex in the effects loop and I noticed that it becomes even louder than what I demoed in my test... Problem is I really like the bass sound of the amp and I can kind of get over the noise when there's only a connection to the front of the amp but as soon as I try to put anything else the amp doesn't play nice. I'm torn because I really like the sound but I can't deal with that noise so I think I have to make that bad decision where I put the dog down when it's sick. @@msi1985 if you know a good amp tech or player that uses one, ask him if a simple transformer replacement would get rid of the hiss. Sucks because I love the EVH Red sound. It’s my go to rhythm/lead sound with all my modelers. EVH clearly has some QC problems that need to be addressed.
