These amps come with sensitive gain. If anyone is having issues try dialing back the gain knob. I never have mine go past 9 o’clock. Of course clean power is a factor but this to me sounds like too much gain.
I was just reading that swapping out the pre-amp tubes with Mullard CV4004/12AX7 makes the noise issue way better. I'm going to call around and see if i can verify this.
@@guitarforall Hey man, i know this is a year later, but i did replace EVERY tube with Mullards. Didn't fix anything. I must have some other issue, I don't know, but the amp is damn near unplayable!!

When I play live I don’t think the power is ever clean. Most of the time I am grounded because I run a power conditioner. It’d be nice if EVH Fender would have put a dedicated noise gate for channel 3.
@@guitarforall Never tried again. Maybe a cable problem. I still have the EVH but only for recording purposes. I use a Quad Cortex direct to the FX loop of my other amp, an Orange TH30. So far, sounds great.
Treat every dial like it is a gain dial except for presense. This has sweet spots even between 1 and 2 on Low, mids and highs. Everything at noon is even like gain dialed fully in. Too much gain on tap across every dial!

Travis Laack Yeah all the EVH Amps are like that. Whenever I use this amp live I don’t even run an overdrive pedal through the front anymore. Instead I’ll use a graphic EQ in the effects loop for solos because I like using the red channel so much. After a while you just have to put up with the noise.
