Having suffered the consequences of some tyre fitting tosser overtightening the 'lock' nuts (that any wheel thief has the tools to remove), I too binned mine.
Bending tinwork is SOP for expedient mechanicery - heck, my brother cut a hole through the inner wing on his Mondeo to save hours on doing some suspension work. Then left it in case he needed to repeat the same job...

Had 30mm spacers on my defender for about 20 years , heavily off roaded .....no issues at all. They key is do get decent hubcentric ones , not the cheapest ones you can find ! I always use threadlock on the spacer nuts too.
Dude looks mint. I run same but 35x12.5r17 on my d3, looks of cut and paste to work but I'd never go back. Proper rig
I've had a 3.2 Wildtrak for nearly 4yrs, lifted with 33s, give it a bit and you'll warm to it.
