Saw this a few years after I got back from Iraq....I never expected to surive the war, 13 years later....still don't know how I'm alive....this episode will forever hold a spot in my heart.
I know. The line, "it's the real world I couldn't survive" hits hard every time I hear it. I have multiple divorces and relationships under my belt. 4 (or 6?) major career changes trying to make it work. The few friends I have are mostly veterans. They're the only ones that understand me. Thank Gods. I'm doing better now, and see better days ahead. Hang tough, Bro. Remember that even in the darkest night, you got buddies out here on your side. Take it from me. It does get better. The memories fade, the dreams get better. So does the future.
Hey brother, we got the watch now. Relax and rest easy, we'll take the burden for the next war. You've done your part. You may not be a Marine but, semper fi.
I’m with you I only now just found the letter I wrote years ago the feeling it gave me is indescribable the only reason I continue to serve today is the love I have for my brothers and sisters. I hope you are doing good because you are family to.
This show was pure genius. The pitch-perfect acting made this such a thrill to watch. Who would have thought a show about team of smugglers who travel around the universe with a western theme to it would seem so... real? RIP, Firefly
According to the behind the scenes info, this was in a way a funeral for the show. The music director wrote this piece as a final farewell to Firefly. The actors all knew the show was over.
one of the most heartbreaking scenes ever put on tv ..I cry ever single time.....Firefly was the best of shows, cancelled by those who were not smart enough to follow it.
While there is part of me that wishes Serenity had gone on for a dozen seasons, there is something so perfect in so many of the few episodes we have - we didn't see this series crash and burn. Instead, we have about a dozen gems, pretty much all lovely and valuable.
The actual "message" of this episode is one I hold near and dear to my heart... I use this episode, more often than not, encouraging veterans to get help. Too often, I find that this episode encourages vets to get help, when they otherwise wouldn't. If I have saved even one of my brothers or sisters, though the only bond we have is the uniform, then in my eyes, the Signal has never stopped -- and if'n I have my way 'bout it, it never will, because I know in my heart that I will have done what's right. The only regret is, I wish I could save the 22 vets a day that take their own lives, by their own hands, because nobody deserves to lose the war they fight in their own head. #22VetsADay
I'm man enough to admit that I cried my eyes out more than once watching the series and the movie. Firefly and Serenity were made out of pure gold, never should have been cancelled. This scene in particular was... intense to say the least.
2005. Medevac. We were running down the road. Boom. Flashbulb of God. We bailed ok with our casualty. But they hung to play, sweeping us out of range of our A2’s. Leg pooched, helmet crunched, blind one eye. Kandahar zero is saying “sit tight” in a British accent. Ah crap, we’re done. Gave the fix bayonets order. Lads, we’re pooched. Aussie troop outa nowhere on quads. They carried me.
Always been a fan. Reminds me of some of the Soldiers I had the Honor to have served with during Operation Desert Shield Desert Storm. RIP To those who did not come back. RIP Carry On... You Will Never Be Forgotten.
Think in the special features when it came time to score this episode Fox had announced the cancellation of the series so the music is a farewell to the series.
Actually it was just a single star system, there is no FTL travel in Firefly. However your absolutely right, He created a Space Western that put together eastern and western cultures and went against most norms in sci fi writing.
I think if people get annoyed by the constant praise from fans, they should just see an episode like this. Perhaps what we see as fans is/was the possibility and potential that was. It's frustrating that after Serenity, we can never have a whole show again. This cast shouldn't of melded on screen the way they did, but that was the reality. So many possibilities, so many topics to cover. Thank you for moments like this scene.
so i'm not the only one who fell in love with a funeral scene lol. the only, the ONE AND ONLY thing to make this scene better, is if it didn't have Tracy's voice over the scene. the acting coupled with the music really cements this scene
All they had to do was tell him they saw through the Fed’s bullshit and they were going to call his bluff. You telling me that hasn’t occurred to anyone? Let alone the guy who wrote the episode.
Disney is not Serenity. Disney are not the Purple Bellies. Disney are not the Brown Coats. Disney is the Antithesis of Serenity. Disney is The Establishment. Disney is the Blue Corporation, Hands-of-Blue-Two-by-Two. More than a few businesses carry the spirit of Serenity. They are out there, not because the chose to, but because "it is the right thing to do". Those businesses are Mom & Pop. The Canadian and American truck convoys come to mind, February 2022.
@Patrick, Agreed. My hackles raise anytime somebody suggests shopping at Wal*Mart or Costco... ... instead of a local-owned family-operated business, my friends and extended family I see every day.
Knowing that this was filmed after the cast was told that the show was being cancelled makes it hit on a different level.
The last funeral in the snow scene.
Greatest tragedy in the history of cinema, this show being cancelled. Hands down.

You shouldnt have survived terrorising and murdering people in other countries who had nothing to do with anything.

Thank you for your service and God bless you 🇺🇸
“When you cant run you crawl.. and when you cant do that.. you find someone to carry you.” - wisest mantra i have ever heard.

RIP, Firefly
Couple of Vets picking up strays and trying to make the best of things, whether they mean to or not...

Here in 2024 and this scene still makes me cry.

I want that quote on my gravestone
Beautiful. It's almost to beautiful for a funeral. It's more like a farewell to Firefly...
Thats what it is. Joss Whedon has gone on record saying as much.
0:41 "RUclips carried me through that war" I know that feel, bro!

The actor playing Tracey was brilliant in this episode. His performance and character made a grown man cry his eyes out here
"nearly" made you weep? I cry buckets every time. :3
Always been a fan. Reminds me of some of the Soldiers I had the Honor to have served with during Operation Desert Shield Desert Storm. RIP To those who did not come back. RIP Carry On... You Will Never Be Forgotten.
All the episodes were really good.......this one was fantastic.
I almost cried whenever I see this. Saddest 'Firefly' scene ever.
Yeah. Me too. "Almost"

Out of commission, become a pillbox. Out of ammo, become a bunker. Out of time, become heroes.
This scene hits me hard. 12 years after coming back from Afghanistan.
Likewise, first time was 10' been back for years now and this shit still hits hard
I cry whenever I watch this scene.
...and they cancelled THIS
Never trust hollywood.
Or accurately, trust hollywood to lie and cheat and manipulate.
Bunch of parasites.
Manly tears.....
A wonderfully shot scene. I love this show so much.

Just saw this again. I'm trying to do the rest! I miss him so very much. I want my brother back! That's what this makes me remember.
Thank you for making this video it was one of my favorite scenes from the series.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢
Damn man tears here ..
Firefly forever 🔥💜🔥💜🔥
Can’t crawl, you unleash the hell you have at the enemy. Your friends will collect your body, if they can.

Yeah, I really didn't like this episode because of that massive plot hole
i weep...i weep......

There is a funeral in Alice's Restaurant with snow that looks like this one.
