I have a 2021 2500hd with the duramax. In 21 gm lengthened the wheel base 5 inches for increased load ability and better ride. The bed is now 6ft.10 inches over the 6ft.5in in 2020. I love mine.
Just put 2nd Gen superduty mirrors onto my '99. I am blown away with the visibility they provide compared to the old ones. Looking forward to how much they'll improve the visibility when i tow my evergreen trailer.
I love the LTZ trim package and this is a beautiful truck. I’m still a fan of chrome, so this particular truck is a home run for me. Make it a 3500 CCLB, and I’d get it!
Nice looking truck. I still dont understand why people would buy a 2500. For just a little more money, you can have a 3500 and way more truck. I enjoy your reviews because the reviews are good and honest reviews. Looking forward to seeing the next video on this truck.
@@Ken_Koonznegligible difference. If a 3/4 ton truck ride 50% harder than a half-ton, a 1 ton rides 10% harder than a 3/4 ton. Hey a long bed and you won't even notice a difference.
@Ken_Koonz it's a heavy-duty truck. I bought my truck to work. Sure, some people may think I am crazy for using a 2022 Limited Longhorn Mega Cab as a work truck, but hey, it's nice driving long distance with my 5th wheel. If I want a softer ride, I will drive my car or my wife's car.
@@Ken_Koonz it's $1,000-$1,200 more for the 1 ton. So when you're already up in the $60k plus range for a gas, or $70k plus for a diesel, cost is again a negligible difference.
Nice review JD, thanks for bringing this to us. But…. Would love to see reviews on some of the mid level gas models. Everyone reviews the hot rod diesels.
These new gas engines are great I have a 6.6 gas in my crew cab 4x4 dually I took a 300 mile round trip the other day hauling just 6k pounds cruise control set to 70 and the truck never down shifted even when it came to a hill. I live in Texas so its more flat with some hills here and there the most I’ve towed with it was a 18k gooseneck setup and it handled it well. Forgot to mention mine has the 6 speed(6L90E) not the 10 speed Allison that got put behind the gasser in 2024.
I love seeing an LTZ model, I'd still prefer seeing an LT/custom model since those are the most likely to be sold. At least this is better then only seeing the highest end or lowest end trim. We' pushed buying a 3/4 ton to the end of the year and we're going to check the 2500HD to see if I can deal with the seats.
Really like your reviews. I like how the chevy is so much less expensive than the competition, including GM, and it offers a great deal more in camera views etc if the right options are chosen. In going with a LT package I can get a six passenger truck with the optional equipment I want and be quite a bit under the competitors price for a less equipped truck. Often they have things that are innovative but of no value to me. Your needs may be different. Another thing noted on Truck is the difference between the 1500 which can be had with a duramax and a 1300 pound tow capacity but not an 8 foot bed with the crew cab. The two trucks are close in price. And instead of the LTZ half ton with max tow and a diesel the LT 2500 comes with 6 passenger seating instead of 5. Two very nice trucks to choose between. Now we just need to see how the strike plays out and what it does to the price. I suspect if it goes up too much Toyota and Honda may enter the HD game and and put the domestic makers on the short end of the stick.
Nice review. I feel like you could really do a good job at explaining the towing sticker where some other big channels are really dropping the ball on that. The towing sticker can’t be VIN specific and you do a good job with explaining payloads and how it affects towing so I feel like you could make a good video explaining how that works and use this truck for the example. So like with the 27,500 GCWR minus the 8,296 curb weight equals 19,204. With the rating of 19,100 that pretty well only leaves 104 pounds for a driver but the point is the manufacturers have no way of knowing how much their customers weigh and/or how much extra “stuff” people take with them on towing trips. So it’s always been up to the end user to know their trucks GCWR and their trucks weight and their trailer weight. The GM sticker is nice because it list your trucks configuration specific ratings. But again, it’s not VIN specific and it really can’t be. So just a recommendation for a video idea for you. I feel like you’d be able to explain this better than most channels.
He does a video like what you are talking about at least once a year, if not more due to people's constant complaining stating that he is off on his numbers when he reviews an RV and recommends what vehicle should best be suited to tow that RV. He could recommend a 3/4 ton truck and gets backlash saying that a 1/2 ton could do the same thing and he's going overboard because it has such and such tow rating.
@@ryan_torres yeah I’ve watched some that’s why I mentioned using this particular truck with the tow sticker. He could maybe get people to understand the tow stickers are not VIN specific and you just can’t have a VIN specific tow rating. TFL has been calling this out this year especially and they should know better.
I have found difficulty, or at least its awkward, to add the oil when doing my oil changes. The 2.5 gallon jug doesn't pour easily under the hood/moisture drain. I own a 2020 1 ton Denali hd duramax. Otherwise very pleased. I like the color on your featured Silverado. P.S. In your reviews have you ever mentioned the importance of using a faraday bag to protect vehicle theft?
I pul a 28 foot travel trailer with my 2022 Chevy same transmission basically same engine you will regret ever towing anything with a 1/2 ton truck these trucks handle anything you can hook to it
It won’t be. Still will be a lot but I’d say it will be around $84k give or take a little. You can’t get a loaded Silverado for 100k unless you go crazy on the GM Accessories.
Very interesting to me the GVWR on this truck at 11350. The 3500 gas engine is 11550 and the diesel is 12100. I don’t get why they de-rate the GVWR for the gas engine 3500.
They only come in a cab and chassis configuration. So, basically you would be comparing a consumer pickup to a commercial one. Not sure if that would be a good comparison.
Still don’t like or understand the mirrors. They look like an afterthought 3 years later. What’s the purpose of moving the mirror’s lower on the door if they don’t increase the visibility out of the window?
Felt the same way till this redesigned front end, I like it a lot. AT4 is still king in the looks department, with the Denali/Ultimate close behind but I like this new look on the Chevy better than any of the other GMC trims.
There ya go again. Non stop talking and the truck couldn't get a word in edge wise! 😉 My neighbors 2016 GMC 3500 Duramax with a little over 100k mikes is starting to leak all over the place. I wonder how a 7.3 newer gas Ford would do hauling a 5th wheel.
I have a 2020 SRW F350 7.3 and 4:30 gears and 70k+ miles, we tow goosenecks around with ease. You just not gonna pass a gas station. So far its been a good truck.

Always good, thorough walk-arounds, covering everything but not wasting a bunch of time like some do. Looking forward to the interior one.
I recently ordered a Chevy 3500 HD 4x4 dually. I decided to go with the 6.6 L gas engine with the Allison 10 speed transmission. Thanks for the video.
Thanks J D loved when you raised the hood and I could hear that diesel purring. Great video as usual.
