I don’t have a big channel or anything so it’s not like I’d ever be able to give you more subs but just wanted to recognize how much I enjoy your channel.
Thank you for watching and the comment. Along with the compliment of the card. Hope you have a great weekend!

Awesome pickup Andy! Beautiful example of the 56 Topps Dick Groat! Love the 56 Topps set! The connection you have with Groat through your dad is really nice and makes the card a little more special for you!

Hey Andy! Thank you so much for the kind words my friend. This is a beautiful copy of the 56’ Groat. You definitely know this specific one hits hard for me as it’s a 2 for 1!!! I’m with you on needing to have doubles of cards for different things. Like you said if it’s a special player or special project you can never go wrong with having multiples!
Thanks again and hope your having a good week!

I don’t think baseball cards get any better than 1956 Topps. Classic design and the Dick Groat is up there as one of the best. When I got back in the hobby and was picking up cards of guys that interested me the most, I chose to get a Dick Groat autograph as one of my first. Being a 2 sport athlete as a college basketball legend and an MVP champion in baseball I thought was just awesome and made me an instant fan. Being you became a fan by hearing first hand stories from your dad makes it really special. Nice shoutouts in this video and I’m looking forward to your tribute of Bill Walton. Thanks for sharing, Andy.

Hugo! Agree with the ‘56 design. Almost like two cards in one. Get the action card and the body/face card all in one. I tend to talk too much basketball in my channel so I purposely left off the basketball part of his life. But he was such a fantastic athlete. That’s great you got a Groat auto as one of your first coming back into the hobby. The people who only collect Hall of Famers really miss out on cool cards/players like Groat.
Thanks for always leaving a great comment Hugo. I appreciate it more than you probably realize. Hope all is well and you’re having a good week.

Fantastic Dick Groat card Andy. Gotta love his 1956 Topps. Gotta love those throwback Pirates cards. Steven and Mike are 2 great channels to shoutout. Nice call on those 2 guys! Hard to hear about Bill Walton passing. I know he was creeping up there in age, but seems to young to me still. Cancer is a hard thing. Always enjoy Andy and thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks so much Steve! Love the Pirates vintage uniforms. Thanks for the compliment even though it’s the second time you’ve seen this card! Hope you have a great weekend, Steve! Thanks again!

Hey Andy! This card was such a great pickup to honor not only your Dad, but one of his favorite players. Such a meaningful piece in your collection. Props to you for sticking overall to your plan for saving for bigger cards. I know it’s not easy, but hopefully some more pickups like this here and there will help bide the time!

Hey Joe! It’s been a little difficult passing on some cards but having some cards I thought I may never get is definitely worth it. Apothecary comment as always Joe! I was pretty happy with adding this. It’s my first graded ‘56 card I have. All the others are raw.
Im behind on RUclips videos and haven’t been able to watch any all this week. Sorry I’m behind on what you shared. I’ll get to it though.

Great episode, Andy! Two great channels mentioned. I love that you have a concept and vision for the "end" of your baseball collection, that's really inspiring and motivating to me. Hope you are doing well and enjoying the baseball season!

Hey Shane! It took me a while but for baseball I have what my collection should represent. I’m getting closer to doing that with basketball and football as well. It’s definitely kept me more focused having that list down.
Baseball season has kind of sucked. My tv provider removed Bally’s due to their bankruptcy so I can no longer watch the Cardinals. They’re blacked out with all the other packages due to where I live. Been a bummer.
Thanks for watching and hope you’re doing well.

I don't do TTMs, but I decided to send one to Mr. Groat. I had the envelope ready and sitting by my door to mail out. Then later that day I learned he had passed. RIP Mr. Groat. Great design on the 1956 set and your Groat is a beauty! Have a good week sir.

Hey Drew! That’s a bummer of a story about trying to get Groat TTM. He was definitely worthy of TTM for those who don’t do it. I had a similar story with Alex Trebek.
Thanks for the compliment on the Groat. Hope you’re doing well!

Great looking card Andy. I have always felt that vintage Pirate cards always have that extra great vintage look. I agree on player runs as not being runs if I have the cards as part of a set. My 77, 84 graded team sets (not yet complete) I have all of them as part of a set. A lot of the final Topps cards of HOF’s graded I have also are part of sets not graded. Those are two great channels to shout out for Pittsburg sports. Enjoyed. Take care and we will talk soon.

Hey Greg! I agree with you vintage Pirates cards hit different than other teams. I wish I didn’t have that feeling towards player runs if they’re in the set but I guess that’s my collecting OCD.
Thanks for watching and all the support, Greg! Hope all is well.

Hi Andy, sorry for the late comment. I was out of town last week and have been catching up. You confirmed what I have heard about Dick Groat being a classy person. How nice of his daughter to make sure the auto was right. That is a beautiful 56 card. I don’t have any of his cards. I am not sure which I would like to add. Maybe his 1960 from his MVP season.
I agree with you on having a card in a set but not counting it if I am doing a graded run. I don’t think it is crazy because you’re storing and displaying them separately.
Math Bowler and Scoot are both great channels. I have only been subscribed to Math Bowler for a few months, but he has quite a TTM collection.
Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend!

Hi Terry! No need to apologize. I’ve had a busy week too and have gotten really far behind on RUclips videos. I appreciate you even taking the time to watch.
As a Cards fan I’m really partial to his ‘66 card but I like his ‘57 a lot as well. Not trying to persuade you but I could see Groat fitting into your collection nicely.
The storing and displaying is kind of how I look at it for trying to get both cards. Sometimes it’s a pain but that is my collecting OCD.
Thanks Terry for taking the time. I’m going to try to watch your video tonight if not first thing in the morning.

Hey Andy I thought of you when I heard about Bill Walton can't wait to see your tribute to him. Sweet Groat card and the story about you and your dad and how he's a big fan of Groat. I have a Clemente signature and on the back is the Dick Groat signature one of the sweetest signature your going to see. I you know this already before bo and Dion there was Dick Groat. Take care Amigo you and your Family👊

Mark!! Great to hear from you! I sure did enjoy Drew’s video a while ago where you made an appearance.
Man, of all people I figured you would understand how the Walton death hit me. I’m still so bummed I couldn’t meet him.
That’s great you have a Clemente and Groat back to back. My Groat autos are when he was older and not as crisp.
I figured I’ve talked a lot of basketball in my last several videos so I’d just keep this to baseball. But yeah, Groat was a tremendous athlete and a great basketball player.
Thanks for the comment my friend. Hope you’re doing great!

Howdy Andy ! Killer Groat card ! I just did a Show on Floyd Robinson & found out him & Dick Groat are the only players to hit 6 for 6 in one game between 1954 & 68. I know what you mean about trying to put out a tribute Show in a timely manner without short changing a legend. I see scoots name everywhere & math bowler is one of my favorites, and not just because he teaches kids. Cool story about getting his auto. Interesting hearing your method of collecting runs. Great Show. C ya !

Howdy Tom! 6 for 6 is a heck of a day at the plate. I probably had a couple summers I didn’t get 6 hits in rec league. The Walton video got to a point where it would have been rushed and I just couldn’t do it. So I put this one together. Math Bowler is a good guy. Has a lot of joy in his videos. Hope all is well, Tom. Give Otis a pet for me.

Great pick up Andy! Groat was an excellent player, as a matter of fact when you compare his stats to some of the Shortstops in the HOF you could make a case for him also.
Congrats on staying disciplined with your purchases to save for larger ones, I try to do that and stray off coarse quite a bit.
I am a big Bill Walton fan, look forward to seeing your tribute to him at some point. Take care!

Thanks, Steve. Several videos ago and probably a year and a half ago I mentioned his candidacy into the Hall should be looked at closer. And people in the comments ripped me for that, lol. I didn’t say he should be I just mentioned it should be looked at again. But I agree with you.
Walton was a big loss to the game. What an ambassador for basketball. You’re one of the few who appreciates me talking basketball so thank you for that. Hope all is well.

Great story about your dad in his admiration for Dick Groat. I’m like you, if I have a player that I’m collecting and have his card in a set, it doesn’t count towards the player run. Need two of the same card. 😂
