I'm a super screamy person, ESPECIALLY when it comes to playing ace attorney. Playing this chapter and watching Menimemo start swinging his camera, then Rei butting in to hold him in place, then both her and Susato launching him in the air, absolutely sent me above frequencies beyond what a normal person would be able to hear lol

For me personally, this case kind of just blended in with the rest, still, I found this case quite interesting at times, and was quite mad when Mrs
Brett died because I was like who is going to tell us the secrets she was hiding now. In addition, one thing that stood out was the humor of this case, I think I laughed out loud at leaat two times. The game as a whole has a lot of great humor, which is why I burst out laughing several times.

So you're finally reviewing TGAA2, im excited.
Not my favorite game in the series but it is really good all around
About this case, i think I still prefer AJs first case, it definitely has its flaws but the premise itself is just so good and has some great moments, that being said, the case itself in this one is pretty interesting, and i remember being kinda impressed with what they manage to do in a "Japan" case, better than TGAA1 for sure

I actually prefere Tournabout Target over this case, however I feel like me explaining myself, will result in me not being able to say anything when THAT review go's live.
I do have some really small nitpicks about this case, but I'm going to wait ontill the premier is finished as I don't want to spoil stuff. I mean most people will watch the video before reading comments, no?

    • @DerpyHiro
      @DerpyHiro  2 года назад

I mean if people read the comments before watching a video, it's their fault if anything gets spoiled but in this case I'm assuming anyone who is going to watch my video has played this game already or at the very least as just played this case so spoilers should not be an issue. I guess if you're going to talk about Turnabout Target you should put a spoiler warning for that since some people may not have played AAI2.
But it's your choice if you want to let out your thoughts about the case right now or after the video premiers. I don't really care either way but I'll most likely only respond after the video airs.

This case and Tournabout Target (gonna call it TT from now on) have a lot in commen. Lead suspects are women, the killers are men, the killer's identities AREN'T revealed up front, the killers state how much they despise the victims before the boss fights begin, which means you only have to focus on how they killed the victims the killers are introduced to you before the 1st halfs of the cases conclude, but make cameos before their introduction and - unless you specked all your SPECIAL stats into perception - the player only views the killers as sus apon learning their names.
The reason why I view TT as the better 1 is because it has more suspects in the form of Shelly de Killer (an assassin who the player has likely already had run ins with in the past) and the president (who was being really aggresive, shady and arrogant) (the game legit made me believe at 1 point that Lotta's aprentece (I forgot her name, sorry) is the only 1 who could have done it) and because Horus isn't an idiot unlike Raiten. The only reason why Horus got caught is because of stuff that was out of his controle (his friend hirred Shelly to kill the president, knowing that Horus would get injured so it would be easier for the investigaters to prove that the attempted hit-job was a fake and that it would also result in Shelly rebaling by holding Horus hostage and you get the rest of the story). Raiten just admits into having stabbed Brett after Soseki's testemony even though he could have refuted it by stating that Soseki was still shaken up and was mis-remembering things, thus preventing himself from being found guilty of attempted murder(Also I would've prefered it if the poison was laced on the blade as it would've stengthen Raiten's stance that he couldn't have stabbed Brett, because he doesn't work at the lab where the poison was made unlike Rei)
BTW, Rei is featured very promulantly on the promotional material and cover art for both TGAA2 and Chronecles even though she's a case exclusive character who wasn't even suposed to be in this game as Yujin was originally suposed to be the defendent, but the devs changed their minds due to the fact that there were too many men. I mean, if you're gonna feature her in in the marketing and have her be Susato's friend, ATLEAST give her more to do (now that I think about, both Lotta's Aprentece and Horus are FAR more important characters then Rei and Raiten are and that's not just because the former 2 aren't case exclusive characters)

@@spouwnerring Spoilers for The Adventure of the Blossoming Attorney and Turnabout Target below:
Now that the video is released, I'll respond. Funnily enough, I actually agree with all of your points. Turnabout Target is more unpredictable with the killer and Raiten admitting that he stabbed Jezail was dumb.
The reason why I prefer the Blossoming Attorney (BA) over TT is simply because I find it more entertaining. The premise alone is much more fun. TT feels like a normal murder mystery with the only intrigue coming from DeKiller's mysterious involvement. BA has Susato pretending to be a male lawyer and her trying to hide that fact makes the case so fun. I think Adventures also helps set the case up for success. We call back to fun things like the rivalry between Auchi and the Naruhodo clan, the situation with Jezail Brett and we even get fun returning characters like Soseki and Hosonaga. I think BA also gives us many more questions to think about. TT leaves us with the question of what was going on with DeKiller at the end but BA has much more such as what Mikotoba is hiding, what happened with Soseki in Japan and what's going on with Kazuma's death. Those are just some reasosn why I personally prefer BA over TT but I can see why TT is your favourite

Both Chronecles and AJAA have the same key mystery. Why did the tutorial bad guy kill the tutorial victim? In both games the player is able to prove how the boss did the deed, however upon confessing, the boss refuses to explain they killed the victim and of isn't ontill the final boss fight that the player learns of their motive.

For me this case is kinda funny because it's almost the opposite of GA's first case in terms of what elements are good with it.
The first game's first case was a really good case, but all of its meta elements (pacing, characters, handholding and storytelling) were quite badly done.
This case has an amazing setting and uses every element of it to really great effect... but the mystery itself is so easy to figure out I refused to accept it at first.
I personally think this is the worst mystery in the entire subseries, but thankfully all of its other elements are so good it still comes out as a good case.
Overall it ended up 30th (out of 50) in my personal ranking of AA cases, right above GA's 4th case. (GA's first case ended up 34th)

Damn that's interesting. I didn't find this case to be easy to figure out. It took me quite a while to figure out how everything went down. In fact I think the third and fourth/fifth case of this game were easier to solve when it came to the general mysteries and the crimes.

      Seishiro Jigoku is Yani Yogi
Mael Stronghart is Manfred von Karma
The Professer Serial Killings is DL6
      3 investigations and 3 trials
1st half of trial 3 is against the penultimate boss and the 2 half is against the final boss
TL;DR TGAA2-4&5 is a longer and more complex version of 1-4 and the refrences feel way too overt for me (Like Shu is screaming into my ear "AREN'T I CLEVER FOR REFRENCING STUFF THAT I MADE IN THE PAST" with a mega-phone). I would have prefered something holy original rather than a nostalgia trip.
