Thanks for this video. 38 here, got SSHL in April of 2023 a few months after I got COVID for the first time. I fought like hell to get treatment. I recovered most of my hearing but still navigating the effects of tinnitus which have been tough.
This has just happened to me. Had Covid for the 4th time 4 weeks ago followed by an ear infection from which my hearing hasn’t fully recovered yet. Fingers crossed it will come back 🤞
Got Covid 5 weeks later wake up with right ear issues. Got better but weeks go by still not improving. Mostly feeling of pressure. ENT says SNHL mild/moderate all frequencies. Steroids, injections, even HBOT. Did not return to normal. I have tinnitus and had clusters of short lived vertigo. They mentioned Menieres but symptoms did not mirror typical progression of Menieres. Resisted getting an aid for right ear but now I use one and it really helps with tinnitus and getting back to as normal as can be. Covid likely caused the issue and I did get the Moderna 2 shot but no boosters. Covid was mild but all in sinuses. No vertigo for the past year so whatever Im doing must be helping.
I had sudden hearing loss in my left ear at the end of 2022 at age 46, four months after having had Covid. Did all available treatments and oxigenitherapy in hyberbaric chamber helped me recover some hearing. Now I am trying to get used to hearing aid. It has been a very tough experience, as I am otherwise a healthy person and no one in my family ever had any hearing loss issues.
I had an SSHL of my right ear in July of 2020 right in the middle of Covid outbreak. I did not have any classic Covid symptoms at the time other than some slight allergy type symptoms which I do typically have at times during the year. It came with room spinning vertigo and resulted in a profound hearing loss in speech frequencies. It did not materially improve with treatment or time and I now use a hearing aid in my better ear with a bicross unit on my deaf ear. I also have considerable Tinnitus in the deaf ear. Better ear has what appeared to be some pre-existing hearing loss and it is very likely, according to my doctors, that I had been relying on my now deaf ear. I was shocked at the time that the doctors had no interest to find out if I was infected with Covid. They said it didn't change anything for the treatment plan. I would have thought we would want to be gathering data about the affects of a novel virus but I guess not.
Interesting topic... When I went to my ENT it was because my ears felt like they were "closed" and wouldn't open. I have allergies and this was in spring so I thought that was the problem. After the exam and hearing test it was determined I had hearing loss. This was a year ago or so. The ENT said they were not sure why but felt like it was a virus. He also mentioned that they have had a lot of this since COVID. I had COVID twice before this happened. I have all of the symptoms you mentioned; hearing loss, tinnitus, sound sensitivity(had tinnitus and sensitivity for a long time before diagnosis), and a feeling of pressure in the ear often. Now, I also have cervical stenosis which has progressed over quite a few years to radiculopathy in both arms. I have always wondered if that could have any relationship to my hearing issues.
Dra. I’m 53 years I loss my hearing in 2023 because of covid, and my ENT said that I loss my hearing completely, and they recommended and is approved my cochlear implant because the hearing aid don’t work for me . DRA please what is your opinion or what you recommend me ? Because I have profound hearing loss in the left ear and that my ear is very bad .
Thank you. I have been treated for SSNL since 2022 unsuccessfully. I have lost significant levels of hearing in my left ear (and have had significant hearing loss in my right ear since youth). None of my doctors suggested it could be Covid related but I had Covid three times before this happened.
I lost the hearing in my right ear almost 2 yrs ago. The ENT doctor giving me a hearing test asked if I lost the hearing suddenly and I said I had and he concluded that I could have an acoustic neuroma. I have constant dizziness, loss of balance with occasional vertigo and my middle ear/eustachion tubes feels like I am underwater.

Interesting video. While i only caught Covid in 2024, it was surprisingly more severe than i expected. I had positive test results for 14 days. I have not noticed any changes in my hearing since recovering from covid. I have not had any testing done post Covid as other issues have happened. I have noticed that i am adjusting my hearing aids more post covid and find a Roger microphone extremely beneficial.
@ i had a visit with an ENT due to a referral from a doctor for my right ear for possible evidence of Otosclerosis. I was supposed to have a follow up but that’s been cancelled twice by the provider who ordered the referral. My right ear has always been an issue for me. I also try not to schedule more than two medical appointments per week. I made the assumption that i need to see the doctor who referred me to the ENT first before deciding the next step.

Good luck! It’s been 2yrs for me. I have my “good” days but I don’t think it will be coming back.
Are y'all vaccinated?
@ I stopped getting the vaccine after the first two.
@@terra6984 yup the whole 9 yards. Still got Covid, still lost my hearing.

I got Covid and about a month later I lost total hearing in my right ear.
That is a pretty rough month. Hope you are doing well.

I had lost mine after Covid and now I have a cochlear and just got activated so I’m trying to teach my old brain new tricks. Lol

Yikes! That is a crazy story. Thanks for sharing. 🙏
Yup, happened to me, got sudden hearing loss right after getting sick.

Seems like a pretty strong correlation. Not 100% sure if it is causal though.
I was diagnosed with Menierres after having covid. I wonder if I actually have this.
Considering the overlap in symptoms, it is totally possible.

Glad you went to the doctor. It is dangerous to let Acoustic Neuromas go on for too long without removal.
It definitely happened to me this year.

Did you have your hearing retested after the Covid diagnoisis?

I got tinnitus after my second covid vaccine.
I had a SSHL in my left ear one year after having Covid. Is it feasible that Covid might have been the culprit?
It is totally possible that covid caused the loss. However, it is significantly more likely that you had a separate viral attack inside your left ear.
Thank you very much for your quick reply. Happy Holidays!
@@DrCliffAuD is covid 19 still around dr cliff?
@@Mohamed-p7c4f unfortunately, it will probably be around forever.
It sure can. Lost the low tones in my left ear because of Covid. A hearing aid helps a bit.
Sorry to hear that
