You know what I'm GLAD you played the game the way you did on your first run. Your reactions are *exactly* why it's actually important to do a 'neutral' run, because you showcased dialogue a lot of folks DON'T see by always playing "Pure Pacifist". The fact that you came back to it with sorrow over what happened, and did a fantastic job dealing with the difficulty spike as a result of refusing to kill anyone, is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to play the game and show us another side to the game, and I'm glad you got to see another side to it, too. :D
I can't believe that Purplecliffe died to Toriel on accident. That's impressive. Also, Purplecliffe, if you see this. It's infamously difficult to play Undertale to a large audience while going in blind, not knowing about the different routes. There have been many instances similar to your own where a content creator will play Undertale and then get a ton of hate because they played it like they would any other RPG, killing the monsters that attack them. As someone who has played all three routes multiple times in this game, I can say that these people miss the point of the game. It's about individual freedom. It's about making choices, and how those choices affect the world. It's about the consequences of your actions. This is one of the main things that makes Undertale so special, and those who would critisize you and try to force you to do the pacifist route would ensure that you do not get to experience that unique quality of the game. So, I think you definitely did the right thing in making your own choices the first time you played. Undertale is a unique, special game, and I appreciate that you got to experience that firsthand. That being said, I greatly enjoyed this entire video! And I look forward to you possibly mercilessly killing every friend you just made.
I've also have died on torial on my first playthrough, for quite a while I thought that it was a bug that has been patched when I tried to do it again. Don't remember when it found out that it wasn't a bug.
Froggit: A monster wears a yellow name when you can spare it. Purplecliffe: That is very helpful. Also Purplecliffe: *Literally pays no attention to the name colors for the rest of the game.*
@@Firethorn.gaming He acknowledged the fact that the Froggit was giving him helpful information that he missed the first time around, but he didn't actually pay attention to what that information was so he also missed it the second time around, too!
The fact that Jack realised the name he chose at the beginning of the game was for Chara(The first fallen child) without even watching the tapes is amazing to me
It kinda sucks that cliff didn't listen to the tapes, it makes some very important stuff very confusing. But besides that, it's amazing that he actually went back and did a pacifist route and how he actually had to discover how to spare the monsters instead of it being very obvious
Yeah I agree that the tapes probably would have helped him understand a bit more, however he did piece the lore together really well. I’ve watched so many different playthroughs of Undertale and not many people understand the whole “you are frisk, you name the original fallen human, and you remind Asriel of them” thing as quickly as Cliff did, or even at all
It’s a testament to how invested in the story he was by the end, honestly. There are other LPers who watch those tapes and just end up MORE confused- but you can tell they aren’t actively SEEKING the answers like Jack did. And he still ended up experiencing that heightening and unfolding DREAD that you’re intended to feel in the secret lab.
i was hoping you'd have continued from your neutral run game and reset that-- some things from the first run would have carried over and given some interesting dialogue for instance, if you've killed toriel in a previous run (or even if you reload your save file after killing her), the 'talk' command in her fight will say 'you thought about telling toriel you watched her die. but... that's creepy.' this game remembers *everything*.
The fact that this man died to Toriel is quite the feat, as it can be very difficult to do, if you look at her while you get to 0 HP, she will have a shocked expression on her face as if she hadn't meant to actually kill you.
I think you have to be at 3 or 4 HP specifically, and have to be hit by two objects at once, or quickly enough before the first hit triggers the invincibility frames. It’s a feat that I’ve seen ppl fail to do while actively seeking it out 😂 impressive
Jack connecting the dots for all the main story beats is so impressive. No other RUclipsr (to my knowledge) has remembered details and when presented with them on screen has immediately understood and put things together so seamlessly. So legitimately impressive.
Im genuinely so happy that i finished this video. The red-ness in Jack eyes showed that - he cares. While Asriel was hugging Frisk i could feel a tear trickling down my cheek. I loved seeing how Cliff really started to care about these characters and got so emotionally invested in their stories, like when befriending Undyne and her friendship with Papyrus, or Asriel/flowey’s story. It really made me feel so attached to these characters all over again :,)
One of my favorite things in these let's plays is seeing the RUclipsr goof around, not really worried or investing in the characters, eventually come around, and genuine care for them by the end. Damn man... It's been A WHILE since I teared up from a video game. Seriously, the end? Tears in both corners of both eyes... Great video, PurpleCliffe!
I love how emotional he gets at the true ending, Undertale never fails at making me feel stuff, and it's always enjoyable to see others react to it for the first time. TwT The perfect order of routes is Neutral - True Pacifist - Genocide Neutral you just make your choices on whether to kill or spare, you can be as stupid as you want or as smart as you want, and eventually learn that your actions have consequences. True Pacifist lets you get the happy ending, everyone's goal when playing a video game (at least I hope so) for the first time. However, it's easier to know what to do if you don't kill Flowey in your first Neutral run, coz he will tell you after the ending phone call that you should try to beat the game without killing anyone. But I suppose even without Flowey telling you that, you could probably work that out yourself, knowing of the SPARE function and MERCY button. And finally, Genocide lets you rip away everyone from their new happy lives on the surface, put them back in their Underground prison, erase their memories of freedom, and all the characters you have just befriended and gotten to know and love, you have to kill them all. Become the true villain of Undertale. Just to see what happens if you decide to be evil instead of good. Definitely want to see your Genocide run! >:D
This was amazing bro i played all of undertale and this hits i remeber crying from the first ever true pascfist i ever done this is an amazing game and playthrough too
@leondaglish2395 I use the term "true genocide" because you can technically play a "genocide" route where you kill every enemy you see but not trigger the path. Not everybody knows that, esp first-time watchers and players.
It’s cool that you played it blind at first (tho a little frustrating especially when you skipped over the only npc that teaches you how to spare) but still cool nonetheless to see a different perspective 👍
My man died to Toriel, and used the pie, the best healing item, to heal. Even though Toriel tries to avoid hitting you when low hp. I just gotta give him props, its so hard to manage such a thing.
The worst part is that he removed the files that make the game remember what he did in the past timeline and doesn’t get new dialogue because of it. Or he just removed all of his data from his PC or just switched PCs and now the game doesn’t remember.
Purple's blind reaction to these routes did not disappoint! I'm almost surprised he didn't get the implication that Alphys is severely depressed, but I think it makes it even better when he says he doesn't want to be her enemy and he doesn't entirely blame her for creating flowey. Fucking hilarious to see him say Asriel is just evil though X3
You going "There's one more person to save... who? Monster kid???" to getting stabbed in the chest by the following cutscene is the most hilarious accidental timing lol.
Jack is one of the best content creators of all time because of his ability to share his vulnerability with his viewers. Between this video and the Platinum Card team video, I can’t imagine feeling more content and satisfaction from these experiences. Thank you Jack, and thank you team.
Damn bro. This hits different. I remember when undertale was just a "new game". When they finally found out about pacifist, it became an emotional rollercoaster. This was amazing. Please do genocide next however. Its also good, but will never be as good as pacifist.
The first Undertale video you did was frustrating and heartbreaking (watching you realize you didn't have to kill everyone was funny though) and still fun, but this video was your redemtion arc, Purplecliffe. 💜 It was so fun to watch you experience the story more than you did last time! This game is amazing at evoking emotions, I'm glad it had an affect on you. Flowey sucks, but Asriel deserves so much love. 🧡 Awesome video as always, and I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to Genocide. 😃
You know someone likes a game when they usually meme the hell out of every other game but genuinely get into the story and enjoy the original game in question.
This was wonderful. Once again I get to see a fresh reaction to Undertale and you had all the right reactions in all the right places. Now can we please talk about how they stumbled upon what I'm assuming is a Gaster reference during this run.
“Im not ready for this to end” “Im not ready for you to leave” “Im not ready to say goodbye to someone like you again” Those words are precious and I ended up crying at the end when the music started playing
What a great video, Jack! You know, it's the first anniversary of my grandma's death, and I must say this really made me think about her happily. Thank you for making these great videos. I can't wait to see more. We love you.
Dying to Toriel is even more sad when you notice her shocked expression when it happens. She's trying so hard not to kill you, actively starting to spread her attacks so you have to actively chase after them...

The first video over an hour that I sat through. I've only done the neutral genocide route, and I was NOT ready. Plurplecliff has filled me with determination (to finish all the other endings in this game)!
I love when cliffe popped off about bringing the snowman to the end of the world! That warmed my heart ❤️. When I played the game a year ago, I wanted to do the same thing, but ended up eating it on the undyne fight to stay alive, which i ended with 1 hp btw. I hope someone actually reads this. If someone out there reads this comment, that would make my day. And fill me with determination❤️.
Ive already seen this route of the game millions of times over as well as playing it myself, but watching you play it has really been new and exciting. Seeing someone get emotional over the game that has given me the same feeling over and over again really is special. I see a lot of people in the comments saying how this video made their day, and im willing to bet the people making those comments are somewhat like me and have already seen this game plenty of times, and yet we all still feel so good after watching you play. This game is amazing, and your playthrough was perfect. I actually enjoyed watching your first playthrough even though I knew this would be the better ending, watching someone experience this for the first time has some magic to it that you just dont get anywhere else. I love this video, can't wait for the genocide live stream. I'll be there.
The neutral run is really refreshing, since I NEVER actually saw anyone do true neutral run without spoilers. He noticed the difficulty change with low amount of hp, understood that human from cut scene wasn't him. It's like perfect way of playing it. (Expect doing secrets and stuff, but it can be on the other resets.) Also I'm more excited for post pacifist dialogue with flower, since he clearly liked the game, would be interesting to see him do the choice.

Hot take: sans is easy
I love how he actually feels the story and acts like he is a character in undertale
You genuinely make Undertale look like a new game, which I love, keep it up !
The fact that Jack got the fun number event for the wrong number song on his first playthrough of the game is quite funny. Imagine if he got one of the gaster followers or the mysteryman door as his fun event that would be very funny to watch-
this is his second playthrough
I agree, it will be so weird.
Its awsome.
Yeah, everyone knows its his second playthrough. No one said it wasn't
@@tberlin9070 The original comment says it's his first playthrough.
@@ShadowFox77576 ?
Definitely looking forward to this video. This video is just very fun and jack is such an entertaining and fun person, jack reading through the dialogue is goofy and can make anyone’s day better with his content. Props to the editors.
1:05:37 His happiness has reached a new high, just because he helped a snowman 😭
PA-PIE-RUS NOT PAPEERIS
My heart is filled with determination watching Jack fall in love with the story as much as we all have ❤️
I’m so glad he figured out everything without seeing the tapes in the lab 😂 i was SCREAMING
Fun fact: His first Undertale playthrough actually got me into Undertale. I was REALLY hoping that this video would come out! Thanks for making it!
Damn man... It's been A WHILE since I teared up from a video game. Seriously, the end? Tears in both corners of both eyes... Great video, PurpleCliffe!
The lore finder in his head is banging and screaming and like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGH I SMELL LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
WHOAA HE ACTUALLY DID IT!!! CONGRATS PURPLECLIFFE🎉🎉
HE MANAGED TO GO MORE THAN 10 MINUTES WITHOUT KILLING A SMALL ANIMAL!! 🎉
@@joetheturtle7768EXACTLY 🎉🎉🎉
Now do genocide
I love how emotional he gets at the true ending, Undertale never fails at making me feel stuff, and it's always enjoyable to see others react to it for the first time. TwT
The perfect order of routes is Neutral - True Pacifist - Genocide
Neutral you just make your choices on whether to kill or spare, you can be as stupid as you want or as smart as you want, and eventually learn that your actions have consequences.
I AINT READIN ALL THAT
@@Yin98306 Then ignore it.
Trust me, I have written WAAAAY longer comments than this one. XD
“Oh balls why is it so long?!” Has got to be my favourite quote😂
This was amazing bro i played all of undertale and this hits i remeber crying from the first ever true pascfist i ever done this is an amazing game and playthrough too
Can't wait for the true genocide playthrough! It's so good when you do it after knowing the full story from the true pacifist run.
He will finally fight Sans
@@MR_DUALITYfr
It's just called genocide not true genocide.
@leondaglish2395 I use the term "true genocide" because you can technically play a "genocide" route where you kill every enemy you see but not trigger the path. Not everybody knows that, esp first-time watchers and players.
@@DarkPrincessAly yeah but thats actually Just neutral
It’s cool that you played it blind at first (tho a little frustrating especially when you skipped over the only npc that teaches you how to spare) but still cool nonetheless to see a different perspective 👍
7:33 *PURPLECLIFFE* REPORTEDLY USED *butterscotch pie* DURING THE *TORIEL FIGHT*
I love how he says papyrus like it’s Papi Russ
Purplecliffe: "This must be the true hard mode"
Me: **maniacal laughter** "Oh just you wait until you do genocide"
He already did??
if you mean about his first playthrough, it was neutral due to him not killing enough monsters and sparing papyrus
Congrats, Plurplecliffe! Genuinely didnt think you had it in you!
Be named frisk, that’s the TRUE hard mode, it literally says: WARNING this name will make your life a living HELL
Meh, it really isn't that hard
I'd love to see a genocide run but I know it's gonna be an emotionally challenging playthrough for Jack lol
@@MoRiSeR_The editor will remind him of his failures even if the game can't lol.
Purple's blind reaction to these routes did not disappoint!
I'm almost surprised he didn't get the implication that Alphys is severely depressed, but I think it makes it even better when he says he doesn't want to be her enemy and he doesn't entirely blame her for creating flowey. Fucking hilarious to see him say Asriel is just evil though X3
yeah but i gotta say, he gets points for not somehow thinking asriel and flowey are different characters. SO many people do this for some reason
HE STILL CALLS PA-PY-RUS PAP-PI-RUS
You going "There's one more person to save... who? Monster kid???" to getting stabbed in the chest by the following cutscene is the most hilarious accidental timing lol.
53:16 Jack randomly pulling out the guitar caught me off guard lol.
Jack is one of the best content creators of all time because of his ability to share his vulnerability with his viewers. Between this video and the Platinum Card team video, I can’t imagine feeling more content and satisfaction from these experiences. Thank you Jack, and thank you team.
Wow I’m so proud of Jack, I knew it was hard for him not to kill anything
And this is why Undertale is one of my favorite games
Damn bro. This hits different. I remember when undertale was just a "new game". When they finally found out about pacifist, it became an emotional rollercoaster. This was amazing. Please do genocide next however. Its also good, but will never be as good as pacifist.
The ending always gets me no matter how many times i see it, especially the comfort scene.
I cry as well... And I completed the game 100+ times
its so funny how in the neutral route he saw the proper pronounciation for papyrus and ignored it till now
Tears of joy come at the end of a stressful adventure. Great job, Jack!
“Im not ready for this to end”
“Im not ready for you to leave”
“Im not ready to say goodbye to someone like you again”
Those words are precious and I ended up crying at the end when the music started playing
Jack "this is the real hard mode"
Genocide "that's funny"
Actually, genocide is more annoying than hard for most of the run. It's only with Undyne and Sans that it's actually hard, the rest is extremely easy.
Jack doing Undertale pacifist ending fills you with determination

What a great video, Jack!
You know, it's the first anniversary of my grandma's death, and I must say this really made me think about her happily. Thank you for making these great videos. I can't wait to see more. We love you.
I find it hilarious how bad he miss pronounces papyrus’s name as pappy rus gets me every time
Dying to Toriel is even more sad when you notice her shocked expression when it happens. She's trying so hard not to kill you, actively starting to spread her attacks so you have to actively chase after them...
I could just see jack holding back tears

Ive somehow never watched an Undertale playthrough until your last one. And this one had me crying right along with you, that was so emotional and hurt but in a great way
OK he has done the normal ending and pacifist, now we need to do Genocide
Jack btw if you eat the butterscotch-cinamon Pie in asgores fight it loweres his defence and atack drasticly.
damm i forgot how much i love watching youtubers expieriencing pacfist for the first time its so wholesome
you know what you need to do after having a bond with all the charcters in the game genocide run
“I must be playing the hardest difficulty there is”
Hardmode Pacifist:
Seeing how there are undertale mods, and yet nobody made a "full undertale hardmode" mod seems so strange to me
Hard mode is easy, only lasts to the end of the Ruins.
i love how overjoyed he was just saving all of his favorite characters
The first video over an hour that I sat through. I've only done the neutral genocide route, and I was NOT ready.
Plurplecliff has filled me with determination (to finish all the other endings in this game)!

The ending was so hosome and w for the snow man I love ur video this is just beautiful
Take a shot every time he says "balls!"
Yooo he did it!!

My day has been a little rough so far, so seeing this made it so much better! Thanks Purplecliffe!
Purplecliffe: papeerus
Papyrus: So you have chosen death
Sans:Oh shi-
Man jack is easily, my favorite RUclipsr I’ve been with since 400k and he’s almost at 1MIL
You are filled with determination
✨ Stay Determined ✨
Read it! Have a good rest of ur week!! ❤
You can may now be able to save, you have more determination than Flowey.
Thankyou
Bro made a entire essay
@@drewn5271 ...
The neutral run is really refreshing, since I NEVER actually saw anyone do true neutral run without spoilers. He noticed the difficulty change with low amount of hp, understood that human from cut scene wasn't him. It's like perfect way of playing it. (Expect doing secrets and stuff, but it can be on the other resets.)
Also I'm more excited for post pacifist dialogue with flower, since he clearly liked the game, would be interesting to see him do the choice.
I actually cried at the end. although I've seen undertale playthroughs I've never seen the full pacifist ending. its so heartwarming but sad at the same time 😭
The fact he actually recognized flowey on those 10 frames
