      I think Arthas is intended as an archetype of a nihilistic and arrogant moral relativist, who thinks he's way smarter than he actually is, and 100% independent from others and everything external (when in truth of course he's a complete marionette to the demonic forces). A bit like Lucifer, who rebelled against God (or being itself) because he thought that he's competent enough to do that. Arthas also states that his intention is to life forever, yet we all know that the nigga died back in 2010 since no king rules forever my son.
      I love the metaphysical structure of the warcraft 3 campaigns, as i did when i was 12 years old.

    The first Undead campaign is my favourite in Warcraft 3. Unlike the Zerg campaigns in Starcraft (outside of that single moment when you have to kill Fenix), this campaign shows pretty well the fact that you are commanding the bad guys and killing countless good guys - the high elves, the Kirin Tor and even the very people you were protecting in the previous Campaign.
    The second campaign only pulls this in the first mission - then it's just evil vs. evil.

    • @harioschtroliki
      @harioschtroliki 6 лет назад +8

      Can't agree with that lol. It was established that Kerrigan was evil so yeah shes killing good guys all the time

      Kerrigan also defeats the Protoss which are established to be good. Especially Zeratul and Artanis. She forced Zeratul to kill Raszagal. There is two secrets in this mission. The first one, is the secret lake of the Pandaren, which if you get close you see a brief image of a Pandaren with a child in his back. The second one is the wendigo lair. One of them spoke "What the hell are you?" to Arthas. Some people discover these secrets with or without cheats to reveal the entire scenario. It always bothered me, why Arthas was so reluctant to kill the first paladin (actually he was the only living person that Arthas was ready to let go alive) and even called him "brother", perhaps he was not as corrupted as later on and he was still able to respond with reciprocity to en enemy who showed him some kindness and respect.

    • @andrecardoso1702
      @andrecardoso1702 7 лет назад +46

      Maybe it's because that one paladin was kinder and more receptive to Arthas than the others. Those later ones seemed somewhat mistrustful of him due to his royal origins, even before he showed any sign of being evil. You can see they held previous animosity towards the prince, and probably never made an effort to hide it.

      I agree with André. Though we may never know the true answer, it's possible that since he was the only one not to insult him (at least initially) that Arthas gave him a chance to just flee and die another day. All the other paladins called him an undeserving brat that deserved to die a slow, painful death, while Gavinrad, on the other hand, told just told him to 'stop this madness before it's too late' thinking Arthas could be redeemed.
