Glenn was my gymnastics coach for many years. I can confirm he's been at this for over 20 years! Helped me start my first tank when I was 14 helping me breed geophagus araguari.
Love the master breeder Glen's shrimp room updates! Thanks for making this awesome video, Nick. I’d love to visit Australia one day and ask him some specific questions about breeding his Caridina shrimp. Looking forward to seeing some Caridina tanks in your collection as well!
It is always fascinating to listen to Glenn describe the features that decide whether a shrimp is quality or rubbish. To my eye the majority look incredible. Looking forward to his purple and pink strains. I have no doubt he will succeed. And the joint Australian Amano shrimp breeding project should definitely happen. Although the ones I've seen advertised online are soooo expensive! Just don't leave it so long before your next visit
This video was amazing, I currently have a 10 gallon with very low grade Cherry shrimp but I can’t wait to get more knowledge and begin Experimenting with Caridina shrimp they’re just absolutely stunning. 🔥🙏
Whoooooo... awsome!! I start a new with shrimps and I try to find a good strain of ocean blue that have been mentioned in this vidéo... thanks for that video
I beleive marks aquatics breed ottos with some success. If I remember correct he used a huge piece of driftwood and let it algae up good before starting
As a shrimp lover, I love these videos. I have a community tank (Kmart sized - 20ltrs?) and I live in Ferntree Gully, about an hour out of Melbourne CBD and my water is very hard. I also don't use Aircon very often in my bungalow. In my tank I have a tonne of red ramshorn snails, 4 cardinal tetras and finally 4 blue and 2 yellow shrimp. I'm currently working on getting 2 more yellow shrimp so I can have 4 of each colour. Oh, I also have live plants in my tank, almost looks jungle-like. I currently feed my fish/shrimp flakes and pellets. I alternate what I give them about every 2 days so say Monday flakes, Wednesday Pellets, and so on. Watching this video of Glenn with his shrimp tanks, he seems to just feed them your products, which I haven't tried yet. Is there anything I should be feeding the shrimp to make them more amenable to breeding? I've been hooked on shrimp since watching another RUclipsr, MD in the UK, and Glenn certainly has the best shrimp set up I've seen since I've been watching RUclips. This is not counting you Nick, which I love your channel and videos. Thank you for posting this video.
Ur lucky to have an a/c'd room, my room is intolerable to be in rn. Definitely not enjoying my tanks in this weather....super quick feeding, water changes and thats about it😢
Question: What are the purpose of these shrimp? Are they just used as scavengers in other tanks where algae is growing? Or Are they ever going to be big enough to eat? Or will they be food for other fish? I am just learning about aquatic life as I am doing research for a fiction book called "Farm Girl" and I have toyed with the idea of having a agritourism and one section of it would include aquatic life. Any information or direction for research would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.
These are decorative/pet shrimp for freshwater aquariums. They do clean up algae in their aquariums. The ones featured in this video are very expensive, and you'd never want other decorative/pet fish to eat them! And they are not for human consumption. Aquariums and aquaculture for food purposes are very different industries.
@@jillhiles143 Of course! I'm an information only hobbyist at this point because I can't maintain a tank yet, but one day I am coming for those black and white shrimp 🤣
Yeah its because its dubbed over or voice over and not audio from the a tual clips themself. Maybe the audio was fucked up and this was the only option is mij guess.
whats crazy is that i watched both previus episodes with glenn last night for the first time and now yo drop this! Those medaka are insane
