This young man is very special. The key is to not over work him running all the high school meets. He is mentally very tough and has take dog in him. God keep him healthy!

The experience would be great for young Quincy. He just needs to go out there and have fun. Olympic level he is definitely a serious level. Mentally,he may be set, physically is another level of preparation.
100%. Just the experience itself would be invaluable so if 4 more years if he is in a position to compete again he would know what to expect. Imagine still being in high school and this is what you are doing? Preparing for the Olympics. Wow. Go for it kid. He is with the New Balance camp and I am confident they will get him up to par.
Keep in mind Erriyon stayed with his youth coach, and is mentored by Coach Holloway

Now we know Quincy W is at 44.37 and he is no where taller or bigger than Taylor was.
The kid just dropped 1.50.44 in the 800m in addition to his 45.19 from last wk! Is he on track to be better than Emmanuel Korir (44.21 & 1.42.05) as the next best 400/800m guy?! Would love for both Quincy & South Carolina Freshman JaMeesia Ford to make the relay pool for the Mixed 4x4, M4x4 & W4x4 Teams in Paris for the experience!
Could he? The answer is unknown he already say he doesn’t want too do the 800 he’s only doing for the 400 the multiple rounds he gotta get used too.
He can go but in my imagination he's just not mature enough to actually make the grade, also because of his not quite develop- ment at this time, it can be risky for his psychic in terms of him getting destroyed, some times it can destroy a kids ego, for instance take "Bolt", what 19:9 & could have very well qualified for the "Olympics" but his coach had the insight to not let him go at that time, held him out for further development to get him well prepared for his next 3 "Olympic" games, question🤔? 🤷 Think "Bolt" was satisfied with that decision men he & his coach made, I mean in truth, I know a few runners who probably would have complained & possibly even found themselves another coach feeling that this coach was holding him back, after all he had & did qualify, but "Bolt" being the kid that he was showing great respect as a student who trusted the wisdom of his coach, & as a result both of them made history!!! Amen & Amen & Amen 🙏!!!

I've been following Quincy since 8th grade.. reminds me of what it would have been like if Obie Moore had a shot .. RIP.. Quincy seems special and I'm rooting for him

Great times early doesn't mean great times when he's older. Of course the possibility of injuries is a threat but more so than that is the ability to stay motivated especially after the money starts rolling in.
This statement is unfortunately true. Outliers like Bolt, Felix and Lewis who showed great promise as youngest. Made us believe that any young athlete who does something incredible WILL be great when their older, but like you said it's not the case.
Many athletes ran fast times as youngsters and didn't live up to that as they got older. For example Adam Gemili ran 19.98 at 19 years old. The 3rd teenager to break 20 in the 200m after Alonso Edward's and Usain Bolt.
This was in 2013, 11 years go. He is 30 years old now and his PR is only 19.97 from when he was 22 in 2016. A hundredth of a second faster than his teenage time. Barely got any faster.
Hopefully this fate doesn't happen to Wilson.

Yeah but that's more often the case in the short sprints. This kids stride, turnover and strength are unreal. If he improves just a bit he's under 44. And we all know what happens after that. I think he's going to be incredible

The only issue he would run inti is the rounds. 45.1 is FAST especially for his age...can he run that in the prelims, then a 44 mid to high in tbe semis, then a 44 low in the finals to be a relay alternate?
Yup . Then he also has to learn when to peak at the right time . He has to develop a floor running time (non peak) and ceiling running time ( peak)

@@m43854 It's funny you say that. His coach is not a conventional coach. I saw an interview where the coach said he does not believe in peaking too early. His philosophy is if you have the talent, the talent will always be there no matter what. Now on an international stage I am unsure if they will stick to the game plan in Paris. I think they still run 2 to 3 rounds to the finals. Someone is usually swapped out from the pre-lims to the finals. Who knows, Quincy W may do well enough in the rounds that he may still be selected for the final. Either way it is a big deal for the USA and the Olympics.
It's a travesty that Jonathan Simms isn't being talked about like Quincy when in fact he's faster than Quincy. He is a 17 yr old Jr in Allen Texas High School that has the U16 year old National record of 45.12 that Quincy didn't break. Master of fact Quincy is third nationally in that age group. I would like to see them race against each other. That may produce outer worldly times. Don't take my word look him up.
Quincy already beat him indoors. Can’t wait to see what they do outdoors. Also Simms didn’t break 46 yet this year

Yes, Simms is a talent, but he has yet to run this year. It's still early in the season, but Darrell Robinson's NR of 44.69 will soon be history if Q continues his exploits.

Bullis Coach Joe Lee . Can't imagine Coach Lee won't steer him toward Mike Holloway at Florida like former Bullis 400 meter runner Ryan Willie. Quincy has a high GPA so his grades could get him anywhere.

@@raymondwright7757 Darnnit. You beat me. That's ok. I got others already. Time for folks to eat crow. Quincy Hall and Rai Benjamin wanted him on there badly. Not sure how much impact that made but they were very vocal about it. Quincy H do not seem shy. Did not even know he talked up until now but he is definitely team Quincy Wilson. Maybe it's the shared name. They are all probably saying this kid looks like he is in middle and is running with the big boys like it's as natural as breathing. So comical and refreshing to see all at once. IMO with an election year with so much bs that is on it's way this is breath of fresh air to have. How can you not root for his kid?
@@imhereforitall9218 true. We are rooting for him because he is the anchor on my grandson’s 4x 400 or should I say was. I doubt if he will run high school after this experience. He is a great kid and down to earth. His secret to running is his feet. They are bigger than his size. If he grows into them, he will be spectacular.
Let’s not get carried away, he’s not strong enough technically or physically. Early development on the clock in an undersized frame with mechanical flaws will only expose him at U.S. Trials.

We saw Erriyon Knighton & Sydney McLaughlin make the team at 16. The men’s 400m pool isn’t that deep, with proper round management he can challenge for a spot.
Both much taller respectively.
@@SpeedSportsMag. Short sprinters can be efficient over 400m. He’s obviously doing something right, his 4x400 leg at Florida relays against the WR holder showed he can handle himself.
