    Fantastic idea Chris & Rob! Friends & I got into mountain biking to get to further cliffs in a day. You set it to a bigger scale however.

    • @pnwbikepacking
      @pnwbikepacking  Год назад

      @@JakeLuke308 Well our original idea was to link a ride up with Hood, St. Helens, and Adams. There are some logistical challenges with this, you need a good weather window and you have to go early enough that hood is still in but adams is still accessible. Other ideas have involved rainier or something in the north cascades!

    • @JakeLuke308

      @@pnwbikepacking That is enthusiastic. The North Cascades offer a level of difficulty all their own. Best of luck.

    Gear question: the camera clip on your pack strap; is that a Peak Design? Do you like it? Any problems with it? Great videos by-the-way! 🎬

    • @pnwbikepacking
      @pnwbikepacking  Год назад +1

      Hey! Yes it is a peak designs capture clip. I’d say generally I really like it. Some say the best camera is the one you have on you, I’d say the best camera is the one you will actually end up using! I’ve tried other systems and find there is too much faffing around so I don’t stop and shoot.
      I can stop and start shooting within seconds with the capture clip! There are three cons/annoyances that come to mind…
      1. You’ve got to be wearing a backpack and if you’re lugging around a big camera it can put weird pressure on your shoulder. So basically I do all my rides now with a backpack which kind of sucks.
      2. I’ve had the camera pop up and hit me in the face / chin before depending on the terrain and how it situated on the shoulder strap. This is very rare. (And I’ve ridden on some rough stuff with it)
      3. Sometimes it gets a bit jammed up and it’s hard to take off or reclip. Doesn’t happen that often.
      Overall it’s totally worth it for me! I’ve thought about doing a video on my gear and how I carry it…. Let me know if that’s something you’d be into.

    hey! I'm curious to know what tires you run for trips to the southwest. any suggestions?

    • @pnwbikepacking
      @pnwbikepacking  Год назад

      Hey Levi, it just so happens that Rob and I are out in the southwest right now. It really depends a lot on the route you decide to do. If your spending a lot of time on mixed surfaces and sand id run wider tires. For this trip I am running 2.6 Dissectors. I probably could have gone for something less aggressive but it’s working fine. I think the sweet spot is somewhere between 2.3 and 2.6. If I were on more tarmac I’d go with Vittoria mezcals 2.35. I think you can get those in 2.6 which would also be a good option. Hope this helps!

There're also a bunch of BLM roads I see in Grand Staircase, so I want to explore them on overnighters or day rides. lmk if you have overlapping plans!
