I've arrived at your channel because I'm trying to find something that tells what the different letters in a Maytag model number stand for. For example I see one Maytag washing machine that has this model number MVW6230HW and another that has almost the same model number but it has an R added to it i.e. MVW6230RHW. What the heck does the R stand for? I've found all sorts of info about the meaning of the serial number characters but so far nothing about the model number. Please consider doing a video about this. TIA
@@mumblinge5892 Sorry, but we do not know what that specific character means in the model numbers you provided. Often times models like this will be slightly different with maybe one different feature, but they may be be sold exclusively at a certain store. For instance, we have seen a model number similar to another and have the letter "B" in it, and it was a Best Buy exclusive model. The big box stores like exclusive models like this so you can't price shop them.
@@PartsDr My serial number starts with SBB0. I have been trying to figure out what the third B stood for since B0 is supposed to be two digits for the manufacturer week! It must mean Best Buy like you said, thank you lol! I did get it there. 😂 Now I'm wondering if the second B is really the manufactured year, or if the BB means Best Buy? Maybe it does mean the year and of course I would get the letter B to make me wonder!
Thank you for your in-depth explanation of Whirlpool and all its subsidiaries’ Model and Serial #’s. It is so refreshing to learn from someone who know what they’re talking about. 👍
Thank you so much for this clear explanation. I'd suspected our dishwasher was older because some of the once-white plastic trim was yellowing, but now I know that our Kenmore Elite was made mid-2001. Yay?!
Time stamp 1:50 explaining Model Introduction was super helpful. I was conflating Model Introduction year with Manufacturer year. GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU!
This worked great, was surprised to find out our KitchenAid dryer was the home's original from 1995 (S/N=E), introduced in 1994 (M/N=B ). We are 3rd home owners so weren't sure. Hardly used it since we air dry everything on drying racks since dryers seem to be hard on clothes (lint comes from your clothing). A 1995 gas dryer, even in good shape, is probably not worth anything. Thank you for the helpful video!
Those are great dryers! They last for a very long time! Installing a maintenance kit in the dryer can keep it running even longer. ruclips.net/video/FCZVDzZQW8U/видео.html
My direct drive Whirlpool washer was made in 1987 and still works as our only washer. I have replaced suspension spring, water mixing valve, and just last week the clutch..Agitates and spins like brand new. Cabinet squeaks a bit when spinning but what do you expect after 34 years. This thing was built when I was 21 years old. I inspected transmission and motor when i was replacing clutch and no leaks and motor looks fine..Repair man who came to fix dryer 12 years ago under warranty said " Keep fixing your washer cause new one whirlpools suck". God willing it goes another 5 or 10 years...lol. Speed queen are the best washers now but they cost $1200...
Very good information.. thanks. What about this one. It's a washer dryer combo I suspect was first made around 2018 and still sold online today. But whilst the model number is labelled MOD the serial number isn't identified and we can only presume the other long number is the serial number. Can you help decipher this label from its back panel?
I'm trying to determine the age of my dishwasher. I've been watching Part Dr videos for at least five years, and they are awesome. I am confused by your chart to determine the age of my dishwasher. It's a Whirlpool MOD WDF520PADW3 SER F50205163. According to the video, the second character (5) indicates the year manufactured. I'm not too bright, but looking at the chart a "5" indicates 1975, 1985, and 2015? As I said, I'm not too bright. I still can't figure out the year it was manufactured. Dr. Parts's videos have been so helpful over the years.
@@pickaname29 The chart offers 1991 and 2021. That's a 30 year difference. If you can't tell the difference between a 2 year old appliance and a 32 year old appliance...I would suggest you've got bigger problems in your life than asking about the manufacturing year of an appliance. Just my two cents regarding your question.
Where's the dumbed down version, I didn't think I was mentally challenged but im clearly wrong . The first example was the only one I could follow . My stand alone mixer s ser # w55199230 mod # ksm88r8qcl . Can someone plz inform me of the year
Did this help you find the age of your appliance? Let us know!
Yes I used your chart to verify. My dryer serial number starts with MM which was manufactured in August 2002 thanks.

@@PartsDr Thanks so much.
Where can I find the cart at??
My serial number has no letters at all
If it says it is manufactured by Maytag, does that mean it was made before 2006? I don't know how to tell if it was before or after... Thanks!
What is the model and serial number?
Very helpful, but goes way too fast and doesn’t show the charts long enough.
My model year is X but how do i know which chart could be 1990 chart or 2000 chart?
Try downloading the owners manual and seeing if it hasn't any dates listed there.
Hmm. My Whirlpool has THREE alpha characters, which I think means it was not actually made by Whirlpool? (VSB...) ???
How do I determine the Capacity of a Whirlpool Cabrio?
Try searching Google for the model number without the last number(s) (1-2 to digits) and usually will come up.
@@PartsDr That worked, it actually pulled up a link to a Whirlpool site that has all the information for that model, thank you.
1:06 There are two A's in the chart 🤨
What's the issue?
Two different year span charts have the letter A. How do you know which letter A to go by? It's a paradox. I need to know the year to find the year?

"May-tayg" omg where are you from that you say it like that?
It’s a whirlpool dishwasher
Hope yall work for CIA
Ha!
Didn’t help with Maytag stove!
This is incorrect. The new microwaves have the M date code and they weren't manufactured in 2002 and held onto for 20 years.

No examples of maytag appliances? Well this was a waste.
The instructions are the same for Maytag unless it was an older appliance that we manufactured before Maytag was acquired by Whirlpool.
@@PartsDr my maytag washer starts with only one letter but made in 2019. I finally found my receipt.
@@robertsherrill753 If you watch the video and follow the instructions you shouldn't have any issues determining the age.

@@PartsDrhow do you find the sticker that shows the model number on a Maytag gas stove?
Told me nothing. My S/N is FS4003919 and model DU948PWPB0. It makes no sense!
1:06 shows that the 2nd character of your serial number S = 2005. 1:48 - 8th character P in the model shows that the model was introduced in 2004.
