- Learn how to use the Spin Clean Record Washer System MkII
Anyone who has used the conventional brush-type record cleaner knows how awkward they are to use and that they have only a limited ability. The Spin-Clean® record washing system approaches the issue in a completely new and inventive way, enabling users to clean both sides of their records at once, without using the turntable as a cleaning platform. With the Spin-Clean® record washing system, you'll help preserve your precious turntable, stylus, and of course your record collection.

I found it worked much more effectively if you put the fluid on the brushes first and left it for a minute before you put the water in. It was really noticeable how much cleaner the record sounded.
I would have liked to hear what the record sounded like after you had cleaned it.
My own thoughts exactly!
yeah why bother playing the record at the start
it sounded like Prince 🤴
Yeah that was like 101 of demonstrating something like this...
Thanks for the demonstration. I'll be trying out my new Spin Clean for the first time tomorrow. Really looking forward to it!
Dirty Vinyl everywhere thanks you!
Once the records are out of the Spin Clean, and you've wiped them down with the white cloths that come with the kit; what would be the best thing to lay them down upon to let them finish drying, to avoid any lint & things like that? I will be using my Spin Clean soon! This works for 45's as well as 33LP's right? Thanks for an awesome video!
Good Afternoon - thanks for the question! The best thing in our opinion if to lay them on a soft, flat surface (such as a microfibre cloth) while it dries. The solution is fairly quick to evaporate so it needn't be left out for hours to dry.
Yes, you're absolutely right, the device works with both record sizes :)
Hope this helps!
Great! How many records can you clean with a "single dose" of the cleaning fluid? Thanks.
Good Morning, the Spin Clean manual states between 20 and 50 records on one dose. But generally use common sense and change the water out if it starts looking overly dirty as you go. Hope this helps!
I used to just wash my LPs in the kitchen sink with dish washing liquid & tap water :) My friends used to think I was weird as they'd not bother - LPs subjected to any & all punishment & put back into covers without inner protective sleeves. Needless to say their LPs were a mess of scratches & pits .. oh, mamma!
You stated the water can set in the Spin Clean for a week. My question is, how many times can the same water be used before it is no longer reliable? I have a large record collection and want to know how many I can clean with the same solution.
According to the manual 20 to 50 times, but that can depend on how dirty the records are.
The main thing to remember is to use distilled water, this will ensure that no water residue is left behind.
3:13 Aargh!! Thumb and fingers all over the playing surface.
Yeah, especially when he put it away after cleaning it! :)
does this washer work well on records with mold on them??
Good morning, the Spin Clean system will clean your moldy records but it might be worth giving them an initial once-over with some soapy water and soft cloth beforehand. This will just preserve the cleaning pads on the spin clean.
Hope this helps!
How many records can we clean before having to replace the water/liquid in the bath? Thanks
50 records can be cleaned with one bath full
How many LP records can be cleaned consecutively with this single application of distilled water & solution ? Is it ok to wear latex gloves while touching the records ?
My instructions say 50
What about 180g?
It would have been good if he had played the record before and after so we could hear the difference.
what about the label does it not get damaged
Hi Henry, the label sits above the brushes so doesn't move through the cleaning process itself. Provided you rotate slowly enough and lift the record out straight upwards at the end of the process, very little fluid remains in the record. Simply wipe it down gently with the provided cloth and set aside to dry fully.
Hope this helps!
wot i think is that this jobbie is much bigger bang for buck than most of the other vacuum / motor driven boxes (and much quieter, too) i got one off of fleabay, innit for under a pony (rattle & trap) and bort a nice bam boo plate rack for them disky things to dry on oh yes... that is *seriously* good vfm, my friend
Is there any issue with the label on the record to become wet ?
Good afternoon,
Thanks to the positioning of the rollers, as long as you're using the correct positioning for your vinyl size, the label is safe from the cleaning solution during operation. The brushes help to remove excess fluid while rotating so the only time you need to be careful is when removing and drying the record with the included cloth.
Hope this helps!
Sounded like the american Elektra Records 7 Inch pressing!
Dam these wipes for the records are lap pads for surgery. The the pads have radiopaque lines in them in case you leave one in patient
Greatest thing since sliced bread
I'd have thought it might be a good idea to replace the inner sleeve rather than transfer any dust or debris back onto the record after cleaning..Just a thought you understand. :o))
Hi,
That's a good call and good practice if you are willing to spend a little extra to keep your records clean for longer. Thank you for the recommendation!
What is distilled water. Do you have to buy it?
Good Morning - distilled water is water that has been boiled to a vapour and then condensed back into a liquid in a separate container. This ensures that impurities are removed. You can find distilled water in most supermarkets!
Hope this helps!
Distilled water is also required for CPAP/BIPAP breathing machines, as a therapy for sleep apnea; so gallon jugs of distilled water are very plentiful.
If you do it legit every single time before playing the records will it damage them?
Also when filling with water is it nust plain normal water?
Just*
Hi Carbo,
It's likely not necessary to wash your records before every use (unless it's been a very long time) and would take a fair while since you need to allow the record to fully dry before playing it.
We recommend that you use distilled water for this as tap-water is filled with bits and pieces that you don't really want interacting with your vinyl.
Hope this helps!
@@HenleyAudio Can you use Deionised water instead of distilled?
Cleans the disc then grabs it between his fingers.
Wouldnt it be better to put the solution over the brushes befor inserting them
Good Morning Christopher - whatever works best for you! The only risk is the potential to waste some of the washer fluid if you coat them pre-insertion', whereas if you do it this way any excess/drainage will go into the water itself.
Hope this helps!
How to clean the spin clean itself.
You need to send it back to an authorized Spin Clean cleaning and repair agent.
Look how simple it is...Why the F*&K is it 80 bucks!?
Hi Howard - There are actually a surprising number of engineering factors that go into creating this product. The most obvious of which is the special solution used for removing the dirt, which has been specially designed to sink the dirt to the bottom of the unit to avoid re-contamination. But also smaller things like the brush position being set to give the correct amount of force for cleaning to avoid damaging your vinyl or not cleaning it properly.
On top of this all (correct) accessories are provided with the unit to allow you to complete the process entirely for one fixed price.
Yes, this is a very simple product in comparison to some, but a lot of thought has gone into making it simple to use.
Hope this helps!
Howard Mora who knows why Its so expensive, but I just got mine the other day and it is completely worth it. It cleaned up used vinyl I bought at the store and after a bath it sounded wonderful.
I don't run my brushes under the tap to clean, seems counterintuitive to the reason you're cleaning in distilled water in the first place. Good machine though.
