    I had issues with it leaving behind a residue which had that effect on playback. I have since switched to a vacuum system. If using a spin clean I would recommend rinsing the records with distilled water after cleaning.

      Sometimes after the initial drying with the cloth I see some leftover liquid. There’s no definitive rule as to how dry it can be. Adding another round of distilled water surely doesn’t hurt. Plus it won’t have the addition of the washer fluid. Thanks so much for tuning in.

    2024 now, just bought a Fluance RT-80 to play my 40year old collection, I'm sure they need a good cleaning. My Audio Technica AT 6012 evaporated from non use. Now I have a new rabbit hole (record cleaning) to go down.

    Nice demonstration Dylan, I have used this product for a few years and have been very happy with the results.

    I prefer the Vinyl styl (79.00), mostly due to the drying rack hidden in the base and the label protecting axel, which helps you spin the disc as well. spend another 20 on a Vinyl Vac wand and its a very reasonably priced and effective record cleaning set up.

    Awesome review Dylan! I love my Spin Clean! I have been getting a lot of use out of it lately! I have always cleaned by records but I have never really given them a "deep clean" like this. So I have been going through my collection and giving them all a clean through this system.

      Hey Marichen! Thank you so much! Believe me once I cracked this unit out, I started going through my collection and see what could use a spin. Even my parents old records that are dusty by all means just to simply have fun and use it! LOL

      Hey Chris! Thanks so much for tuning in. I’m still holding on to the RCA unit I have, it still works like a charm, but for records that are just cursed with paper flakes from paper sleeves or whatnot, this product will do all the difference. Have a great holiday!

    I used to have a similar like this one before (same thing but another brand, one that I think is more common in europe, called Knosti). But now I have a pro-ject vinyl vacuum cleaner instead. So much better. The records gets cleaner, it's easier, it's faster and the records does not leave any residue.

    • @TheRecordSpinner
      @TheRecordSpinner  4 года назад +1

      Ahh I see! The Pro-Ject vinyl cleaning products are fantastic and they are almost standards for record stores to have when cleaning records. Perhaps I’ll try that out sometime down the road.

    Yeah, I love my Spin Clean, I use it on all my records that need a good cleaning (except for the shellac records of course). It works really well.
    By the way, is that the copy going out to the Patreon monthly giveaway recipient?

    • @TheRecordSpinner
      @TheRecordSpinner  4 года назад

      Awesome John! So the way the Patreon vinyl giveaway works is that the record being given away is announced on the first of the month. The winner will be drawn on the last day of the month; but at this rate, it’ll automatically be given to the one person that’s there!

    • @SeanFlaherty

      How often do you wash your records? Just when you hear surface noise? Just when you first get them (relying on a cleaning with a brush before each spin to keep them clean?)

    • @mrPCEmilkman
      @mrPCEmilkman 4 года назад +1

      @@SeanFlaherty I personally just use it on newly purchased used records or new records that seems to be extra dirty from the factory. I just use a standard brush for daily play and don't use it again until I am hearing surface noise.

  • @ForTheRecordaudiophileMichael

    Depending on how dirty the record is I suggest washing the Record by hand first then putting it through the spin clean ✌🏻

    • @TheRecordSpinner
      @TheRecordSpinner  4 года назад

      I can agree on that. If there’s only minimal dirt on the surface, it’s a quick and easy job to do by hand.

  • @jerryking7502

    Mistake I made cleaning cloths....DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER!
    All the systems I've seen are pretty much the same in how good they work, but I like my Vinyl Styl version because you don't have to change anything for record size. It uses a hub that attaches to the record because the labels are all the same size and that is what it goes by....Also, Vinyl Styl gives you a drying rack which neatly stores into the bottom of the unit! So handy, and versatile! Now I am NOT disparaging the Spin Clean at all. Just variations is all....
    I have found, you get better results if you spin it enough to wet the whole record, and then WAIT about 30 seconds for the solution to "soak" into the record...You get a better clean!

  • @carlosquintanilla3700

    Would you recommend giving every vinyl an extra cleaning with a more record solution and a brush, or would it be overkill?

    • @TheRecordSpinner

  • @garystinson5498

    Got the Spin Care system(UK) which is exactly the same. Found it to be pretty useless. Yes gets vinyl nice & shiny but doesn't take away any crackles/pops etc. Also distilled water over here is crazy expensive. £20+ for 2 litres. WTF!!!!

  • @PerfectPlex090
    @PerfectPlex090 4 года назад

    But isnt sound difference is what matters?! It looks nice afterwords, vut does it sound better. I have old records tht snap crackle and pop, will this solve that issue?

    • @TheRecordSpinner
      @TheRecordSpinner  4 года назад +2

      That’s a wise observation. I should have included before/after sound comparisons but RUclips’s copyright police can be quite strict with sound recordings. I can say that I have played records before and after cleanings and it does a difference. Keep in mind that dirt particles can build up on your stylus as the record spins further to the center and it will effect the sound quality and there will be a loss of detail. I do recommend using a carbon fiber brush that specializes in removing static electricity charges that cause the pop and crackles (rather cheap, will run about $10). Hope this helps!

  • @alanlucas501
    @alanlucas501 4 года назад

    No. Those cloths are put into a quick wash cycle, no detergent and on their own with nothing else in the wash machine. They are then left out to dry on a clothes airer. Do not put them onto a radiator, boiler or on the outdoor clothes line. Dry them over time in room temperature. For the distilled water; I use the water from my condenser dryer. I filter the water multiple times and store it in a large still water bottle. My records turned out perfect.😊👍

    How many records can you do with one session??

  • @grimreaper-qh2zn
    @grimreaper-qh2zn 3 года назад

    Cleaning surface dust is not that important. The stylus pushes that out of the way. So that is really cosmetic. What is important is cleaning out the grooves. That you can't see, except under microscopic view. At least you should play a noisy record and show if there is improvement after cleaning.

    Sounded great until I saw the price. I assumed a plastic box with some plastic rollers and a couple of brushes would be resonably priced. At A$135 it's IMO way overpriced, and lol, they actually call it a "machine" ffs

    Yet another "demonstration" of this product where the reviewer couldn't be bothered to give a before and after comparison of the record by actually PLAYING the bloody thing!

  • @jim_wicks
    @jim_wicks 4 года назад

    OMG. You reviewed a product by one of your sponsors! and (gasp) you not only liked it you said it was the “perfect system.” It’s not perfect. I own one and it’s okay. You didn’t mention the rollers which pop out regularly. And yeah, be critical about Discwasher because they’re not a sponsor and (importantly) they’re not in business anymore. But treat the sponsors well. Viewers beware: biased review.

    • @mrPCEmilkman
      @mrPCEmilkman 4 года назад

      Super helpful input. We know he will be kind to the sponsor, that is sort of how sponsorship works.

    • @jim_wicks
      @jim_wicks 4 года назад

      John Winner then why bother reviewing thjie product made by the sponsor of your show? Do you not see conflict of interest? And no, that’s not how sponsorship works. At all. Ever. You’re better that that. Otherwise, you’re just a shill. If you don’t change your ways your viewers will eventually see through it and see you for who you are. You’re better than this.

    • @TheRecordSpinner

      I can assure you that my statements were honest and were not at all “fluffing” Spin Clean’s end. If I felt there were flaws I would’ve addressed them. Just because my overall thoughts were positive does not make it a biased review.
