- This is amazing live! Really adds something with the atmosphere in my opinion!

Who says this is a terrible concert? I think the Exciter Tour had a really beautiful setlist and great performances, especially in these more mellow moments. Wait until you hear „Freelove“ in this show - simply amazing!
The entire tour is great. Sad that some songs weren’t included on the video(
Honestly, I think it’s mainly Dave’s vocal performance. He’s super screechy and seems to scream-sing a bit too much for many folks’ taste.
@@PeterMBracke I can understand it.
You cur the BEST part when the croud sing ohohhhhh
Seeing and hearing this live seriously gave me goosebumps as well. I don’t know if it was this tour, but I saw them do this song where there was a catwalk. Dave and Martin walked to the end of the catwalk and sang this side by side. Those two with just their voices led to a big applause. It was magic.
Hope you have a chance to see this live Seph - in the audience we all continue with the ah ah ah ah’s and enjoy Martin in particular soaking it all in. It is quietly electric 🫶
Just imagine this in person. The water drops on the screen were so atmospheric. This was definitely a highlight of the show. I hope you get the chance to see them someday before they pack it in. Hopefully they have another album in them, or at least one last tour. BTW, after you're done with the live stuff, don't forget the 12 inch singles. There's a whole other side to the Depeche Mode experience. They have the complete discography on their website, or there are fan sites as well.
It's obvious that Martin backing vocals bring so much to DM songs. They played this song during there last tour and it was so good. I would have loved to live this moment in 1990 for the World Violation Tour but I was too young.
World violation tour was fantastic. From what I remember, I put it in at least the same class as the Devotional tour. Violation tour was for some reason significantly smaller in scope than both 101 and Devotional. Among other things, no video production was made from the tour. What exists is of rather poor amateur film quality. And it was a significantly shorter tour than usual. It's a bit strange that they chose such an arrangement - since the album Violator was their biggest success to date.
@@FredrikAndersson597 Honestly, though not perfect, the recording quality of some performances are more than decent
@@alregis8668 London, Francfort, Milan and L.A are good audience recordings in my opinion. Soundboards from San Francisco and L.A are good too but the lack of crowd is a pity. But it's better than nothing.
Agreed about World Violation. The quality is about what you'd expect from a camcorder in 1990. But that doesn't diminish Dave's charisma. He sounds amazing, there is much high-kicking, and who else can pull off a bedazzled leather jacket like that?
@@emberleythedragon2318 no one else, sure.
At the end it's actually Peter Gordeno singing with Martin. He's the keyboard replacement for Alan (he still tours with DM even in the latest tour which ended a few months ago)
If you eager to see more Martin performance, except those what you will react on this concert, I leaving you a tip to react to Sister of Night performance which wasn't included into DVD version, but was added as extra and it easy to find on RUclips
Absolutely love this one. Glad you enjoyed it.
I always love Waiting for the Night live. All about the atmosphere. I do admit that I'm not a fan of how harsh Dave's voice sounds singing this one.
But, not a bad concert, at all! It's one of the ones I love to go back and rewatch every year or so. Great setlist, amazing performances from Martin and the backup ladies, and while Dave's voice isn't consistent, I love all of the enthusiasm in this concert. It looks like they were having a good time. There's still a lot to look forward to here.
Hi seph ! Yes violator best album, thanks for this concert 🙏👍
Am looking forward to you seeing the Martin ones! I had to look ahead on this particular concert cuz like I said there are some favorites of him performing during this tour. A key one isn't on this concert it turns out, but I'm looking forward to what you think of what songs he does on this one are like.
I'm glad on this one they seem to have turned up his mic.... this song NEEDS the mix of their two voices for it work.
This live version is very true to the album version. In fact, it almost sounds like the backing track consists of everything but the vocals from the studio recording.
Dave's vocals are too loud in the mix and are too clean. He sounds okay during the lower register passages, but when he sings "waiting for the NIGHT to fall" and "I know that it can SAVE us all", it's a bit rough. Revisit the studio version for a direct comparison. I think you will be surprised. However, Martin sounds great, but is criminally low in the mix.
(7:10) "Wow! Wow! Big props to Andy right now. Do you know that is one of my main complaints about this. He hasn't really been shown off. He is there. He's there on the right, but it's like he hasn't been shown at all. I think we've had a couple of glimpses of him, but that's about it." There's reasons for everything. Andy generally didn't contribute much to the band, live or in the studio, including performance here. I think you may be confusing Peter's playing and backing vocals here, with Andy's.
(3:40) "Feel! He's adding sensual stuff into this. I love it! That with the butt wiggle. Whoo!" 😂
The last time you reacted to a live version of Never Let Me Down Again you wondered if Dave was ok. You won’t on this one when you get to it. People who say this is a bad tour forget that was worth the admission alone…
You cut it off too soon!!!😂
Oh, on top of my previous comment I want to add talking about. your comments on how Dave sounds better on softer sounds.... yeah, I double-down on it being he's not using his breath support property in this concert. His voice is lovely when it's not a lyric delivery that needs a lot of air push to it. He sounded so pretty here.
I kinda like 👍 this ♥️ 🤔 song (it's a pretty awesome, catchy [timeless]tune), I think the last few times Depeche mode preformed this (on tour), I think it was both Dave Gahan and Martin Gore would sing this together ❤️ (but something tells me that, they sing another song 🎵 and it would end up like this)... they would hug 🫂 🤗 each other in the end... well that's all for now thank you for sharing this Seph 😊 🙏 🙂 ☺️ ❤️ 😀.
Du hättest den Song noch weiterspielen lassen sollen...die Menge singt noch ohhhh ohhhh ohhhh. Das gibt noch mehr Gänsehaut
So, that’s my little secret: for me “Waiting for the night” always was a song that your parents like from DM catalogue and you’re fed up with it for all your life. Yeah, I never liked Violator for this strange reason and didn’t like Depeche Mode at all, thinking like “Oh, here’s another pop-band”. And I had many years to accept this song finally. Great album and great song, but…still not for me. The same story I have with “World In my Eyes”, but when they performed it in Memento Mori Tour, I finally got it, but in another way. Speaking about the next song: did someone really decided that this track should be in main setlist instead of the song from the second night, which was thrown in bonus tracks? Not honest! Sorry for my complaining, some people complain so I can do it too at least one time:-)
«Did someone decide», - Sorry, my mistake.
This was not the end of the Song....
Even though "Waiting for the knight" comes from what I and many others consider to be the group's heyday, it has never been a personal favorite for me. Finds the song rather mediocre - even though the sound image and atmosphere are nicely and beautifully constructed.
A compliment though to the group who still up to this time in 2001 seem to be using the original sound bank of the songs. Personally, I want to hear "Stripped" by Depeche Mode and with the sound and soul that the song has, and not some kind of cover version of the song with new sounds and largely new arrangement - which will be the case later in the 2000s until today at the live performances.
