One of the best character demos they’ve made. This really had everything. Amazing music, characterization of Nahida contained in the music, and a bittersweet ending foreshadowing her still imprisoned reality in the story. Nahida remains one of the better written and likable characters they’ve made. And you KNOW she’s a sweetheart when even DAINSLEIF says that even for an archon, he feels bad for her.
Exactly. I haven't even thought about... Her... In so long. But then Marco brings the initial motif of For Riddles and Wonder and the flood gates open.
First time I ever listened to this song, I tried holding back tears. But the moment the Aranara sang, I just let it all out. The whole song somehow brought me back to my childhood. It was like touching my inner child. Definitely one of the most emotional songs in Genshin I ever listened to.
plus that, I can't still deal with it, I would still let my tears come out for the reason I don't even know about at this rate but I remember everything..
i didnt relate to this song right away because it was released prior to nahida's full situation i believe. we just know that our gang was preparing to raid the akademia and that she's miserable so the nursery vibe felt off to me. later when I return i figured there's so much in this theme song and that "nursery" doesn't just refer to her being a "kid" but also aranara's only being seen by those who still has their inner child (yoimiya story quest part 2 enforces this) and of course the "nursery" as in small plants.
What i love about that beat drop at the end with the children's choir isn't just Nahida's innocence that's portrayed by them, but also the solo voice representing Nahida that sounds to me like she's calling out to anyone who can hear her. And with the point in the story where this came out, the response feels like the Traveler and Sumeru crew calling back and saying they're coming for her. It's both really sad and really uplifting and i love it.
amazing character demo for an amazing character. i've always felt the need to defend nahida from ppl saying "uhh why's she a child" when she first came out bc i've always thought that nahida, a god child, being the very embodiment of wisdom is such a good concept bc she is quite literally curiosity given form. the instinct that drives babies to put something in their mouths, the feeling a child gets when they learn about space for the very first time. a god with boundless wisdom yet has never experienced the world for herself and i think it's phenomenal how they captured childlike wonder in her theme
great analysis! I also believe the childish theme is supposed to symbolize humbleness in contrast to the archon quests theme of arrogance and corruption. for humbleness is the essence of enhanckng your knowledge which is probably also the reason why only children (including nahia) can see the aranara as they are beings of wisdom
@@casbb what games community? Haha..nahhh..i do watch some genshin content here..be it playthroughs, OSTs or just content about my favorite characters.
The normal version sounds more like reminiscing or taking a "lazy break", while Nahida's version is playful and feels young, despite having the same innocence.
The one that plays in Sumeru City during I think the morning or noon? Gives that feeling of being slightly sleepy after lunch, y'know, between dreamland and awake. It's really nice.
The ending on her theme reminds me of those "continue?" screens on old arcades before a game over as it counts down from 10. She's all alone in the dark, the clock is ticking, the screen fading, the timer is about get to 0, we press continue at the last second, with that last note on the strings as the sound effect.
All Archons have somewhat modern remixes of 'traditional' music I find. Venti has a sort of modern fantasy music. Zhongli, Raiden Shogun and Nahida have electronica mixed into their regional themes. Furina has swing music in hers for quite a bit, and also has a lot of stage musical type of music.
for me Nahida is one of the most beautifully written character Genshin made her innocence yet knowledgeable personality is just a plus despite all of her traumatic experiences, the love and care for her people is still there she might be small but she has the biggest heart.
If it doesn't absolutely need to be erased from existence, she can make friends with it. As long as there's a valid reason for something being the way it is, she can understand and work along with that. If the reason isn't valid, it's probably still something she doesn't need to poke at.
When I tell you, I have been WAITING for this video. Nahida's character demo is still my absolute favourite in terms of video and sound. For Riddles For Wonders WILL make me cry every time I hear it, but Surasthana Fantasia is so joyful that I kind of see them as completely separate, even though the theme is the same. Thank you, Marco, for making this video a reality. Your musical comments really add to the craft of composition and make this music piece even more special to me.
This is the one of the only themes that I begin crying to, the longer I listen to it. Someone in the comments mentioned the inner child, and I think that's a pretty accurate reason why one might at least shed a tear to the music.
Since she's a child, they went with a very childish song that one would sing wile playing or is just a representation of someone's childhood. She has those puppets animation that hold hands like kids when they play. Also, the bird animation, flying free, since she was like a bird in a cage but we got her out and is free and happy and singing the most basic song but to us sounds so beautiful and melancholic. I love this character and how they portrayed her in the story. There are so many bits and pieces that make sense and lead to childhood, playfulness and innocence.
Genshin's experience is such a unique thing because people experience it differently. For example here, I did the Aranara world quest first so I instantly knew this was a tie in to the Aranara chorus, but others that didn't do the world quest wouldn't have that immediate connection. And still others watch the trailers or listen to the music without even playing the game. And then players also experience things different if they have to wait between archon quests, or if they start later and can just go through them all at once. Not a lot of other games really have this sort of experience.
knowing the context of her story and her traversing through the children's dreams will never not make me teary eyed when ever i her the music associated with it :')
Thank you for covering Nahida's ost. She's my most loved female character in Genshin. She's just too pure. Her ost never fails to take me to an emotional rollercoaster. It's on my repeat playlist
I still haven't had time to do the Aranara quest so I don't connect the song to them like others do, but there were so many little things in this trailer (including the music) that took my mind straight back to the happy days of my childhood and the games we used to play, that it makes me emotional every time and I'm pretty sure I cried the first time I watched it. Even the sense of unease at the end feels familiar, because we lived in a dangerous place and I was always aware of it even then. Loved your analysis as always, thank you for sharing.
the part thst always get into me is just after the reality breakdown in the end, the last melody is quiet and with some fesr, but also full of hope for the future "things are gonna get better soon"
I always loved Nahida's demo ost. Makes me feel like it's fun to learn and see a new world. She technically was reborn so she's rediscovering the world her past self saved. There's so many times playing Genshin where I'd think "I wish I could forget everything and experience this whole game again" and I think this song captures that feeling accurately.
Yeah, Nahida's tantrum on one of her character quests really made her look like the young archon she is, the lonely part at the end of her video is a glimpse of her situation at the start of Sumeru's Archon Quest (main story missions) which gladly we managed to solve. In spite of her childish looks, she acts more like a mother or a teacher.
So wonderful. That fits Nahida's character so perfectly. She's just so seet and lovely. Still my favorite character demo to this day. Furina and Zhongli's were really good too but I just can't bring myself to like those more than this one

Hello Marco ! I really enjoy those videos about Genshin's music, in which you share with us your passion for it ! I would looove to see an episode on Dehya's theme so i was wondering if you ever considered it ? 🤩
I know that you mostly review music but since you took interest on the demo, could you look at the teaser of nahida if you havent seen it yet? (Just in case, it's a sad one and it will hit just right at the sensible spot. I know i look like a horrible person that i would like to see your reaction on something that sad while knowing how sensible you are but you wont regret it i think ^^'. ) Ps : if there is some grammar, orthography or conjugation error i'm sorry about it, i'm french and doing my best to be clear :)
Could you at some point take a listen to the remnant 2 music maybe specifically to Annihilation I’d really love to hear your take on that piece and maybe more but for sure that song would be great. Love the content and keep up the work homie 👏🏽

@@naveengokarla1282 bansuri(in Hindi/Sanskrit) indian bamboo flute it comes with different scales and have different names across India such as Venu, murali
It's mostly depicts with Hindu god Krishna (as Venughopal)
This is the main flute in Indian music but have many scales which give variety to sound
Unlike Korean music which is Western based , Bollywood music incorporat the classical instrumental ,For example u can hear this flute in Bollywood songs along with the other Instrument such as tabla, tanpura, sitar, dholak which were used for sumeru music
I don't listen to Bollywood anymore since 2018 because they are also leaning at western taste but manm whatever
Bollywood is just hindi film industry there are also other flim industry in India
Check out this song Mere dholna
Instrument i mentioned above along with bansuri is used in this song
@@naveengokarla1282actually, tf is is "Muslim flute" even meant? I mean, "Muslim" isn't a nationality nor a specific ethnicity or geographic distinction. So, wat is "Muslim flute" 😅?
great video!! every time I hear this theme I cry 😭
would be really nice if you could break down Yoimiya's second story quest theme, "Chasing Starlight with You", it's literally one of my most favorite pieces in genshin and I think you'd like it!
Idk if it's just me, but the climax of the song also has a Christmas-y vibe to it, which in my mind, puts forth the idea of a divine child, the very embodiment of purity and goodness.
Oh! Yes this!!!
7:05 "i spy a new friend" *proceeds to beat the sh!t out of them for the sake of character demo showing her atk pattern *
Hello Marco ! I really enjoy those videos about Genshin's music, in which you share with us your passion for it ! I would looove to see an episode on Dehya's theme so i was wondering if you ever considered it ? 🤩
My second favorite character demo
Nahida’s theme gives me big Studio Ghibli vibes.
your T shirt is legendary
Nahida's theme is the only kidz bob worth listening to
How much emotion awaits you in Firefly theme from Honkai: Star Rail :)
"If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking"
I donno why but the song just makes me want to worship Nahida even though I'm an athiest.
Honestly am still trying to find the disc of nahidas theme which is boundless bliss
one of my favorite song on genshin
I LOVE the aranaras. This character demo made me beyond happy the first time I watched it! ❤ The music is just perfect too.
My baby is too precious ❤❤❤
Never thought of "For Riddles, for Wonders" as something sad. It's rather calm, welcoming for exploration, somewhat ambient...but not exactly sad 😅
After 3.2 though…😢
The song itself isn’t sad, it’s just the context where it plays in the story that makes it sad, and the memories associated with it.
It gets really sad when you get to *that* part of the story
I call it the theme of enlightenment.
Not Gonna lie the first time I listened to it in sumeru, I teared up a bit, without any context
I know that you mostly review music but since you took interest on the demo, could you look at the teaser of nahida if you havent seen it yet? (Just in case, it's a sad one and it will hit just right at the sensible spot. I know i look like a horrible person that i would like to see your reaction on something that sad while knowing how sensible you are but you wont regret it i think ^^'. )
Ps : if there is some grammar, orthography or conjugation error i'm sorry about it, i'm french and doing my best to be clear :)
If I was at a live concert I'd probably cry like stupid as if Jesus has just died.
Me at the gym listening to Nahida’s demo:
Could you at some point take a listen to the remnant 2 music maybe specifically to Annihilation I’d really love to hear your take on that piece and maybe more but for sure that song would be great. Love the content and keep up the work homie 👏🏽
Amazing!! I can always count on your reactions and insights to be super top tier, thank you!!
Have you watched the Nahida character teaser too? It is incredible and I think you'll have a field day, genuinely the best trailer every created by Mihoyo. Please check it out if you havent!!
Hi Marco! I just wanted to let you know that there is an awesome soundtrack on the Yoimiya character quest cutscene... I'd love if you could react to it!
Do you ever plan on reacting to White Night which star rail just released?
Marco, when are you finally going to stream Neuvillette’s story quest? January is over. Also, 4.4 releases tonight which brings back Lantern Rite and a whole new map expansion to Liyue, being Chenyu Vale. Plan on streaming maybe sometime next week?
