Regarding the Dawn Winery’s melancholy melody, there’s a lot of bittersweet history to the winery. I believe a lot of it has to do with Diluc’s lore. It’s reminiscent of Diluc and Kaeya’s softer memories as children, as well as his life before Crepus died and everything took a much darker turn for him. Moreover, we could also add that Diluc is now carrying the Ragnvindr name, his father’s legacy, and merely underwent a tragic coming of age (especially as Crepus died on his 18th birthday, and Kaeya, the one family he had left, divulged his truth as a Khaenri’ah spy and too, betrayed him in this sense).

Just to clarify, Genshin’s Sumeru music is NOT microtonal - you can map all the notes onto regular Western notation, but microtonal music is either written using special uncommon notation or passed down orally. That’s fine, not all Middle Eastern/Indian music is microtonal anyway, but actual microtonal music might sound jarring to a first-time listener who’s only familiar with classic Western music. Still, I encourage you to go out and research, there is a ton of really quality Middle Eastern music that utilize microtones in a bunch of styles, whether folk ensemble or in an orchestra, right on RUclips.
There are only a few instruments uniquely tuned to play microtonal music, some of which are the ney (flute), oud (lute), rebab (fiddle), mizmar (horn), etc (violin is also common). The ney and oud are present in Sumeru’s music, but they are played like other instruments and not microtonally.

    • @aperfectlynormalinternetus6715
      @aperfectlynormalinternetus6715 Год назад +13

To add, Sumeru’s music often utilizes the “Arabic scale”, or the double harmonic major scale, which is present in both Arabic and Indian music. It’s very commonly used in the West to represent Arabia and the Middle East, and was used by Hans Zimmer in his score for Dune (which is heavily inspired by Arab culture).

I love the storytelling between the buttery-smooth transition of Nahida and Wanderer's themes
It's almost like the ending for the 'lonely, lonely little girl' goes directly into Wanderer putting himself forward into that scene to accompany her.
(And then we get to the Fatui theme, which is all about the Doctor, who likely wants to destroy them both along the Irminsul tree.)

Thank you for your insight from singing technicality and standpoints 👏
As a classical double bassist and occasionally event organizer, the concert video give me joy and also nightmare lmao
I love the mix and how I can listen to more parts than the official studio version. It's clean and well edited although personally I don't mind if it's a little bit "dirtier", which is the charm of live performance. And oh yes I'm smitten by the taiko lady as well, she's so cool 😍
Nightmare because I cant stop thinking about the logistics of bringing this concert together. The players have their own mic and in-ear monitor, some of them are wireless. And then balancing the electronic, band and drum, which in live setting tend to overpower orchestra if not managed carefully. I really wanna see the big-ass mixer they got there lmao. I'm curious if any of the sound engineers there ever get a cold sweat handling such a big job XD
It's also due to home advantage I think that they can perform such a large repertoire with so much resource, so I kind of understand if they cant make as large concert in another country. Yep, very fitting music for concert hall indeed.

47:53 I don't get why some people are so adamant about how "Xiao should have died" in the archon quest lol, I'm guessing just for shock factor and some tragedy? It wouldn't make sense with his character. His storyline is about him forgiving himself and learning his life has value and that there are people who love him. letting him sacrifice himself would have been so weird.
Then again I guess all the people I've heard say that don't even care for him or know much about him so... makes sense

Him being saved shows exactly that. Zhongli, his friends, the Traveler all value him! They showed that him dying wasn't the best path he could have taken. Him dying would have only been an unfulfilled character arc, which happens waaay too often in media just for the sake of shock value.

@@MarcoMeatball yeah, you don't understand a bit about writing
A story about overcoming self-sacrifice ending with a self sacrifice is horrible, it would've made the entire journey pointless, what Hoyo made was perfect, they made a satisfying journey of a character overcoming that self sacrifice instinct which leads to more even more opportunities of them developing, while also giving depth to the other characters that have experienced something similar in the past, good thing Genshin team doesn't kill off characters for shock value and actually develops them

@@Roma_Romanee-Contithey keep character alive for marketing purpose. Its the same as shock value. There are characters in this game that should be dead but they are still alive in fear they’ll loose money. Genshin is too big to take the risk. I get Xao story a bit more now thanks to you but when you have a bunch of characters that kinda end the same way as him, its just not that interesting

this is only my personal preference, but I think this live version of caelestinum finale termini is not as good as the (I believe studio) one they released as a single, precisely because of the opera-like performance.
It's incredible what they've done and there is definitely room for it elsewhere (looking at you saltatio favillae), but I prefer dvalin's theme with "normal" choir performers, without this opera-sounding tone to it

In an almost 2 hour concert, you have to make artistic choices. And I think they handled that perfectly. They couldn't have played each and every theme the same way as the studio recordings as that would have made a lengthy concert and they wouldn't have time to cover all the memorable themes. Also Saltatio Favillae 1:23:55 was actually a condensed version in this concert, and was different from the studio recordings aswell, but was perfectly performed. Almost sounded like a different elevated version. The opera singer even sang at a higher pitch than the recordings and actually outperformed the studio recordings making it even better! Also Caelestinum Finale Termini of the studio recordings was sang by a soloist, maybe they couldn't find a soloist that could have performed with the same quality, so decided to use opera choir singers instead. Or a choir would have worked better in a concert hall , instead of a solo singer 18:27. Anyway, in an artistic perspective, there is no better or worse, its just different, both versions are good in their own respective way.
