I think you are beautiful with your grey. I am 53 and now starting my journey with growing my grey. I agree with every word you said. I want to look beautiful and accepting my age not trying to look younger. I get comments like your grey will age you and I say so what I am older. I even said to my friend If you will keep dying your hair you won’t be looking younger you will look an old lady with dyed hair that’s the difference. Ageing is not all about hair colour. You realise that when menopause hits you. So you can’t fool nobody if you still gonna dye your hair. You still going to age I think actually dying your hair just emphasise the contrast between the ageing face and the unnatural. The struggle is real though I have the same thoughts like will I have silver hair at my daughter wedding and I am gonna look old. 🤷♀️
I totally agree with everything you said here!! For me my dyed hair was looking so fake at times and it was not looking good with my skin tone!! I find the right makeup and wearing the right colours helps!! Also I can rock red lips now which I have never been able to do before!!! Thx for your great comment!!
Me Too! @ 61 I recently decided to go natural. I feel like a huge weight has been shaken off of my shoulders. I don't think you look old at all. I have never seen you without gray though....🤔 I want to age gracefully without coloring my hair. Decision Made! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much, everything what you've said was my thoughts also. It's a privilege to age. I'm 47 and are growing out my hair. It's softer and freeing ❤
Thank you for watching!! It really is such a wonderful stage of life when we just let go and embrace our natural hair!! It’s so much more empowering than I ever would have imagined!
I love your attitude. You're awesome. I love my gray hair. I like it better than my brown hair. It brights up my face. I think you look fantastic 🎉 Keep it up. God bless you.
Wow! This is brilliant and you are so wise! I love your commitment to authenticity and individuality, and your powerful realization that the most breathtaking beauty shines from what is Real. A truly wonderful message delivered from the heart... thank you!
I am 54 and I'm SOOO GLAD I stopped dyeing my hair. I love your comment that being older is something to be desired. Not avoided (no one can avoid it anyway!!!) It's like gravity. You can't deny it. What if there is coming a day when younger women "cant wait" to be older and get silver hair? That it is something to aspire to, not to be avoided like the plague. I agree with the comment below me, that the dark dyed hair just emphasizes the contrast between the reality (the face) and the fantasy (the fake hair). I think most women as they age look more attractive with well-cared for silver hair than dyed brown hair.
I'm brand new to a grow out of hair dye, only about 2 weeks in. My hair is past my waist, so I've got quite a challenge and journey ahead. I'll be 66 next week and for most of my life I've had really long hair. It's still thick and pretty, and truthfully, I and many people don't think I look my age. I think the transition of the grow out will age me more than when it's all grown out. I'm so ready for this and for me there is no turning back. I'm mostly doing it for an addition to my already healthy lifestyle. No more toxins...a few years ago I stopped using nail polish and nail polish remover. Another great video ❤
You are so refreshing, I so enjoyed listening to your videos. Personally, I think you look absolutely stunning and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Yesss, definitly!! I stopped dyieng my hair too... I have three months allready😁but I m so glad because I did it. Sorry for my english, is not so good, I.m from Romania. 😊Thank you, silversisters🙏❤️
I just found your channel & subscribed. I turned 50 in Nov. & am researching going gray. I was a natural brunette & have been dying my hair since my early 30’s. I had my last color appt 2 weeks ago & already have grays peeking out around temples & ears. Everything you said in your latest video resounded with what I’ve been feeling. I have my next hair appt in 3 wks. Hoping to have the courage to start the process of growing my natural hair, even though my hairdresser has told me I’m too young to do so. Thanks for your inspiration!!
The younger you do it the more you rock the greys in my opinion!! Thx for the subscription I appreciate that so much!! Let me know if you decide to go for it!
You are so pretty. I totally agree with you and love so much to hear this from women your age and even younger who have gone natural grey. It gives me the determination to keep moving forward as well. Im 6 months into not dying my roots and I’m loving the grey and looking forward to seeing what it will look like once fully grown out. Thank you for this video.
You're beautiful and your attitude makes you MORE beautiful! I'm about 70% grey according to my hairdresser, but I don't have the nerve yet to go grey, instead I've been doing highlights. I'm married to a younger guy so thats part of my reluctance! I'll get there eventually! 🙂
I stopped 8 months ago at age 66, wish I had done it 10 years earlier. It made my scalp hurt for 3 days every time I got it retouched. I changed a lot of things about myself and my lifestyle in 2019, and finally gave up dye in 2022..I also don't care that I look older.
It really is so hard on our scalp!! I can’t even imagine the chemicals effects on us either!! Yes, I don’t need to look 10 years younger… I already was that age!! Lol
I feel exactly the same way as you . I do think I look older with gray hair but since I concentrate more on staying fit and agile , keeping a good posture and overall physically active the hair is the least of my worries . I need balance in my life and struggling to cover my grays every 2 weeks wasn’t doing it for me . You look fantastic and youthful ❤
I’m 58. I’ve been fully gray for about a year. I like my gray hair. It’s healthier than it’s been in such a long time. I have a lot of variation in it - from white to a steel gray/pewter color. But yes, I’ve been told it makes me look older. Like you, I don’t care. The only thing that concerns me is if I were to be laid off from my job, I don’t know how much ageism would impact my ability to get a new one. And in that case, I think having gray hair would be a hindrance. But I will worry about that if it happens.
I think you actually look better than with dark hair. I'm 47 years old and about 4 weeks into my journey. This is my third time of full long hair transition. First time I was 41 and second time 44. The last time I redyed my beautiful long luscious grey was a huge regret and am now having to go through it all again. I cut it all off each time which is hard so this is it. I will never dye my hair again, there I said it! ...lol
Hello. I am 58, transitioned to silver at 53. For me it was about feeling real. My dyed highlighted hair looked awful. My skin-tone is better with my almost pure white silver. I eat right, exercise, and put effort in to my skin care, cosmetics ( minimal), and dress. Finding ones colors and incorporating them near the face is the way to go. I work as a mammography technologist. So I see many women at my job. Often women mistake me as younger, even now. Age is more then color coated hair.
I think your hair looks great…!! Keep it up…!! I had my first grey hair when I was 13 (thirteen years of age.!!! Both my grandfathers were totally white by the time they were 25. The strain missed my parents and landed on me..!! And I’m fine with it…!!😊
Youre pretty and I'm 71 and have decided to let the hair coloring go. How liberating. I'm not worrying about what people think. What's important in life is loving yourself and being the person God wants you to be. We worry too much about appearances. Need to embrace life and be thankful for each day of life. Be happy with yourself first. 😁👍
You look 10 years younger than your age. When you feel you're beautiful, it reflects on your face so you're beautiful. I still colour my grey and not ready yet for the transition journey ❤😁
I know a gentleman who recently said that he went to his barber around 30 years ago thinking nothing about all his gray hair until his barber asked him if he wanted to look at least 10 years younger. Of course he said sure and from then until now he's been getting his hair dyed. Nearly everyone would rather look younger, I'd imagine, the question is how far will someone go to look younger??🤔
I like your thoughts! 👍 We want to get old, but we dont want to be old? Why pretending something? Plus I dont like the itching chemicals on my scalp only to see the grey roots in a week or so again. Meanwhile I even dislike the rest of my dyed ends. They look faded. But as I prefer shoulder long hair the transition lasts so long and Im not that patient. Anyway - everybody should feel free to do whatever pleases.
I’m 51 and stopped dying my hair around 3 years ago. I’ve been a lot happier. One funny thing that’s happened is that now when I’m with my 84 year old dad (who has white hair), people think I’m his wife or his sister. However, when I’m with my 79 year old mom who has grey hair, people think she’s my mom. Interesting. Maybe my dad just looks great for his age?
But I also think people just see the grey hair and have associated it with age for so long they don’t even look at someone’s face. It’s deeply rooted in our society!
@@amandasilversister , yeah, I’ve asked people whether I look 80, and they just say they saw the gray hair and assumed. So now I tell people that I’m my father’s child but just look his age because I don’t dye my hair. They find it amusing.
HI AMANDA I'v tried 10x to go natural but after 3 1/2 months my white hairs start to look steel gray and they dont look as good as with light brown hair. Plus I have an Identical twin and she's not ready.hopefully next year. friend Connie
Oh wow!! It definitely is something you have to be 100% ready for and wanting as the grow out is tough!! With a twin that would be hard too because you would have a constant comparison I bet!!
Im only 4 mo in but I am asking this question. Will I really feel old once its all transitioned? But I do know that I am ready to be my age. To be free from the salon visits, nails, etc. I just wanna be me. Ive already had 2 women say it will make me look older, but i guess im ok with that. I am 50 after all!
My answer is somedays it will and some days it won't... but that was how I felt prior to going grey too!! It's not my hair that makes me feel that way though...Being 50 makes me feel that way...I do find that with my hair being lighter I need a little boost with makeup or colour of my clothes though. Having said that , there are some days I feel stunning!!! like a rare unicorn lol!!! As long as you love it you will find you start to glow from the inside out!!
When i had my original color ...last year.. noone asked me any weird questions apart from "who does your hair "?....and now they ask if i have grand children.. after they examine my hair. How rude. And assuming. And suppressive.
It’s weird all the unsolicited advice a women gets when they do something that society is uncomfortable with!! Stay strong with those comments!! I think it’s THEM that’s uncomfortable with a strong women making independent choices!!!
Tbh, I don't know if I look older. I know it's something I wanted to do because I was tired of the hair dye and I noticed that I had way too much grey hair, especially around my face. I received more comments from people in Chile than here in the UK when I posted photos of my progress. Women in Chile have told me that I'm "brave"...I never know what to say about it because it's just hair and I think they overreact. It's not that I saved a baby from a house on fire or something like that. I'll be in Chile in April and be able to see the reality because grey hair is not a popular trend over there. It's still very marginal, so I guess I'll receive unfiltered unrequested advice about dyeing my hair because I'm letting myself go. That's for sure.
I too have noticed the strong words people use when commenting on my grey hair....Brave being one of them. I think it s maybe a fear of going against a societal norm that is so deeply ingrained in us all!!
It's OK. You look great for 49+. Grey suits you well. Rock on good looking😊. When I was 50, my hair was mostly brown and shorter. I'm almost 60, greyer and my hair is longer. My girlfriend likes it better now.😅
Thanks for the compliment!! It’s amazing how our natural hair often suits us better!! Thx for watching!! Love when a man watches watches my videos and comments!! Men are a big part of changing the grey hair narrative for women!!
I absolutely don’t think that you look 50!!! 😮 I thought you were 35-40… proof that grey hair is NOT the only reason why people look older… Your face looks young, you look fit, that is more important than the colour of your hair!! 😊
I don't think grey makes a woman look older... it depends how much original color you still have .. and sometimes white looks more youthful than salt and pepper
I think it’s a much softer look for sure! I wonder if my skin tone was also changing a bit too… the dyed brown was looking a little harsh at time, especially when I did a box colour!
@@amandasilversister yes it was not your color. .People dont understand that covering white hair is difficult not to mention drying. And that you are not pleased by it anyway.. They dont understand your need to feel happy.. I actually dont get the interest . I never cared what other people did with their hair. Its their hair.. One time however a 30 yrs old girl looked at my roots and was like " ok fair enough "and i think she respected me.
when i started video i didnt guess you being 5o. people have to realize men wear their hair real short. They dont look the same when they grow it out either. women look as good with their gray, silver and salt and pepper as men do. You are the age you are period.
I'm 54 and starting my SILVER journey 😂 I don't look my age being blonde, will I look 54 when I'm grey...I'll soon find out. Just want to say you do not look 50 no matter your hair colour. You look 40, seriously
You dont look 50.. because of your hair... you look pretty.. .... I just find that for me..people think it makes me look older than what i am.. and my natural color made me look 12 years younger. So that's the difference...As my journey only started 5 months ago... and i was almost all my original color.
@@amandasilversister at this point i don't like having it.. but i sometimes think as it grows out i might like it. Im a natural ash blonde so who knows it might look like foils lol
You don't care, because you are likely married or in a long-term relationship, but I guarantee you the other person, especially if it's a man, cares. Not that he would never say it, cos you would hold it against him forever as punish him about it with access to sex etc. I understand that a woman wouldn't want to worry constantly about her wrinkles & get all that Botox rubbish etc, but dying one's hair to look over twice as nice, really isn't much to ask. If not for yourself, do it for the person who has/wants to look at you lovingly, and so they don't have to be constantly reminded that their loved one is slowly dying & turning into a hunched over old lady. You have years to look like a Granny, so why not try and look sexy as long as you can, when all that's required of you is a trip to a salon or head over a sink? A woman letting her hair go grey is the equivalent of a man letting his tummy become a potbelly. It's the height of laziness. You can justify it all you like, but you're just trying to make a case for letting yourself go....and if this offends you at all, that's because you know there's truth in what I'm writing. You wouldn't get offended if I said your skin was slowly turning green, because there's no truth in it. We generally only get offended by things that have truth in them, before you go all feminist on me. Dye your hair. Don't be a slob...Grey hair reminds men of old grannies and witches. Neither of which he wishes his partner to turn into, at least not prematurely, when a bottle of hair dye is as cheap & readily available...You may not care, but I guarantee your partner does. They may lie to protect their sanity, but believe me they do care. Grey hair looks shitbox (& it's way worse than full on white). Especially when you have a nice face like you do, otherwise it's a total waste. So go get some bloody Schwarzkopf ya bum! Cheers for reading (& all in half the time it takes to put some color in your locks)...
I think you would be very surprised to know it was my husband that suggested I go grey actually!!! I am also a grandma of two so love being a “granny” as you say!! Grey hair isn’t for everyone I know but I really do love it!! Oh and if my husband got a potbelly, it wouldn’t change how I felt about him either! Maybe you haven’t had a relationship that has been more then skin deep yet…
@@amandasilversister I guess a man who has left his stomach go to pot, isn't exactly in a position to complain, and like I said, he wouldn't admit that he would prefer you without grey hair. No man would dare, but You actually think that's the truth? Is that why his porn or any of that stuff you have seen of his, is all old grannies, yeah? You think when he fantasizes, he is envisioning woman with grey hair. Sorry lady, you are pretty naive, but on the off chance you are correct, and he is actually into granny porn, then you have far more to worry about than being lazy with your hair. Please don't say he never looked at porn. If you think that, boy does he do a good job of fibbing to you. Like I also said, you have many years to be an unsexy, hunched over old prune, with a moustache & hairs growing out your chin. So why be grey prematurely? A pot belly & grey hair bouncing around. What a sight that must be...People who let themselves go cos they're comfy in a relationship, are so screwed if it ever ends, and 50% of marriages do end. 80% initiated by the woman. Just because he still likes you with grey hair, does not mean he wouldn't prefer you with nice blonde or chestnut hair. Just like you may be alright with having a sweaty, hairy pot belly, grinding up against you. Does not mean you would not prefer him with a six pack, or at least a flat belly. Go get some Clairol or L’Oreal and stop being gross. Get him a total gym too or a bike, while you're at it. Cos it aint gonna be "sport sex" sessions that shrinks that pot, by the sounds of it, that's for sure....Cheers
@@lynnsteed9979 It just came up for some reason & I thought it was lazy as all hell. Unless you have already totally given up & let yourself go. If you think it's ridiculous, why are you even thinking about it? little own taking time to type. People only get annoyed when there's truth in something...

Plus I have an Identical
twin and she's not ready.hopefully next year. friend Connie
Oh wow!! It definitely is something you have to be 100% ready for and wanting as the grow out is tough!! With a twin that would be hard too because you would have a constant comparison I bet!!
💥👏 👏👏💥
It really doesn't, you look really good🥰
Im only 4 mo in but I am asking this question.
@@amandasilversister well.. i drove past 3 grey haired women in my neighborhood walking. but they were over 60. But i bet noone says anything to them.
As I get older, I find women who embrace "the grey" are not only beautiful, but more confident, and more fun. Rock your grey beautiful babe 😃
I absolutely don’t think that you look 50!!! 😮 I thought you were 35-40… proof that grey hair is NOT the only reason why people look older… Your face looks young, you look fit, that is more important than the colour of your hair!! 😊
Thx hon!! Grey Hair is just one other colour option that’s it!
@@melinakoufalis281 love this!!!
I think we should concentrate more on health more than how our head looks.
True!! Using less toxins in our hair is definitely better for our health!
when i started video i didnt guess you being 5o. people have to realize men wear their hair real short. They dont look the same when they grow it out either. women look as good with their gray, silver and salt and pepper as men do. You are the age you are period.
Well said!!! You are the age you are!
OMG I cannot believe you are 50. When you said you look old I thought you were in your 30’s. So shocked. No way do you look 50!!!
Lol!! Yup 50 this year!!
I wouldn't have guessed you were 50. You look like a younger person just with grey hair.
It doesn’t since your skin looks young. Many younger women are even dying their hair gray
I'm 54 and starting my SILVER journey 😂
I don't look my age being blonde, will I look 54 when I'm grey...I'll soon find out.
Just want to say you do not look 50 no matter your hair colour. You look 40, seriously
Thank you!!! Count down to 50 this year!!
You dont look 50.. because of your hair... you look pretty.. .... I just find that for me..people think it makes me look older than what i am.. and my natural color made me look 12 years younger. So that's the difference...As my journey only started 5 months ago... and i was almost all my original color.
Through my journey I have learned that some people like it and some people don’t! What really matters is that I love it!! ❤
@@amandasilversister at this point i don't like having it.. but i sometimes think as it grows out i might like it. Im a natural ash blonde so who knows it might look like foils lol
You do not look old with grey hair. I honestly thought you looked about 35.
Okay… you are sweet!! I’m actually a grandma too!!
What a ridiculous comment. If you don't like women going grey why are you watching this video?
@@lynnsteed9979 exactly!!!!
@@lynnsteed9979 It just came up for some reason & I thought it was lazy as all hell. Unless you have already totally given up & let yourself go. If you think it's ridiculous, why are you even thinking about it? little own taking time to type. People only get annoyed when there's truth in something...
