I have been binge-watching "The Anderson's" fertilizer videos for about the last 10 to 14 days. This is about the fifth video that scalps the Bermuda lawn is the spring season starts before putting down the fertilizer. And when I say scalp in this video, it's not the inch-and-a-half that I do on my Northern season grass, I'm talking 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. My question is: why is this scalping taking place? For what reason?
It's common practice to scalp the lawn in the Spring as it turns brown (goes dormant) in the winter. The brown will not turn green in the Spring so it is scalped down to allow new growth to be seen thus giving it an 'early green-up' appearance. It's the nature of Bermuda. It's also often done in late July or August as Bermuda will get 'stalky' showing a lot of brown since only the top part is green.
Got mine down two weeks ago after my second clean up cut. Plan on one more lowering cut after these storms pass through and use the green shocker I didn’t put down in the fall after your review. Hope it works better in the spring
What a great video you spend so much time talking about everything except how to set the spreader I guess I'll have to go somewhere else to find that out
I'll be doing my first fert here in a few weeks, I'm going with a triple 10 for kickoff as well. You have some good greenup already!
Appreciate it, it's not too bad. I see another cool dip 60/30 coming in towards the end of the week in my area. Thanks for watching! 👍
Looking good Sunny! It's always nice to get that 1st application of fertilizer down!
🌞Yes indeed! 👍 I feel like my season has started now. 😀 Thank you for watching!
Do you mind sharing a link to your spreader?
Yes, certainly: www.ewingoutdoorsupply.com/56002400-empro-100-lb-professional-spreader
Hey she’s starting to wake up now! I love PGF, good stuff man! 👍
Thank you!! Game is on now! 😎
Looking like you are off to a good start Sunny. Nice to see the perfect coverage right down to the bottom of the spreader 😁
☀️Thank you! I’m excited to get started! 😎
Hey Sunny 🌞 I see that green up coming looking good 👍
🌞Thank you! Yes, I figured it was time to start feeding it and get that green bouncing. Thanks for watching. 👍
Looking nice and clean. Good work getting that spreader dialed in. I’m a few years out from getting my mine dialed in like that 😅
Thank you! Ha! It took me a couple of years to learn that dial. I typically set it smaller and do two passes for better coverage.

Thank you for filling me in! ☺️

Good plan, I think I have a bag left of that Greenshocker, too, and will try it in a couple weeks. These storms have been rough.

Thank you! I mentioned my spreader setting around the 4:18 mark. Do you have the Empro spreader?
Great video as always Sunny. Threw down my first app 2 weeks ago. Went with a triple 13
Thank you! I tried a couple different ones. Backyard video next week.
Looking awesome, new friend here.
☀️Awesome!! Welcome, friend! 😎
Is the mask because its really dusty stuff?
No, mostly allergies 🤧 Those pesky pine trees.
@@SunnyBermuda I hear ya, all the pollen around spring time up here ruins my allergies, its not even that warm and its already really bad!
Great video as always sir!
Thank you!! 👍
Looking great.
☀️Thank you!
The main thing about that fertilizer is it all quick release. Great to get the lawn started.
Yes, good point. It's 2.12% Ammoniacal Nitrogen and 7.88% Urea Nitrogen. Good stuff! Thank you for watching 👍
