I got the pulley kit it took me 2 hour's ..and a black guy showed me what I was doing wrong. The way you show it i almost mess up the main bolt to the kit. I'll post my video of it then you'll no what I'm talking about
Ron has pointed out I didn't use the "button". It's a tip that goes into the jackshaft and would be very important especially if the diameter of the jackshaft is bigger than the hole in the pully. He explains this in his video, you can watch it here! ruclips.net/video/mLs-b9eInuw/видео.html
If the pulley already broke off, will I still be able to install using the provided screw and installation instructions? The removal process with the tool kit doesn't thread the inside to then be used for installation does it? Can I do installation only without worrying about the threads inside matching the screw?
My guess is in this video, the new pump shaft may have been a tad bit longer. As long as the pulley is seated, it will be where it needs to be. And I'm still using the same pump on the truck, no issues. (Knock on wood).
@@1D10CRACY Hey thats great! I ran into the same issue as well but ran V-belts which I assume are more forgiving. I found that the new reman pump's shaft was 0.001" smaller than the old one which caused the pulley to sit in deeper. I am guessing the reman process machined down the shaft just a hair.
I have a 1997 Ford f150 I replaced my power steering pump. When I'm putting my pulley back on how do I know how far back to tighten the pulley. All the other videos say to match up to the old pump. The old pump the power steering broad was not flush with the pulley it set back just about an eighth. So I tried to match that and now power steering pump is squeaking really bad!
@@davidlang4442 Go to Harbour Freight and get the kit for $20 with a Life time warranty. You can't beat that plus if you tinker with your own car's you will eventually use the kit again.
Spent 7 hours using this same exact tool and could not get my pulley off today took an old fashioned 3 jaw puller it was off in 5 minuets. I do not like this puller kit at all . Did everything exactly the same way you did
@@1D10CRACY Hello, the bolts that are in the kit. My directions say to take the one bolt (the main puller bolt) and tread it though the one piece, then it says to use the small plug or # 9 or 7 and to put a (unknown end into the main puller bolt, and the other end is to go into the pulley. But it doesn't say which end is suppose to go in the pulley or which end is to go into the main pulley bolt. So far, I got no where! Also, is seems to be impossible to remove from the steering pump, when it's already attached to the car. I can't even replace the line, because when they designed these things, there no room to even place the wrench anywhere! The designers are idiots!
I'n my experience, I'd be surprised if a pickle fork would work for this app. It's a tough removal even with the puller. On some of these the there's no room behind the pulley to start the pf.
Tim, if you have a Wrench set, just pick the size that best fits...Sometimes it's SAE, Sometimes, it's Metric or a Combo of both....hth....Cheers 🍻!!!!
Why not show detail all three bolts
I didn't think it was that important. Sorry.

Nice and clear video with no fluff or bs... good job!!
Thank you sir. You saved me from taking my car to a mechanic for such a simple task.
F yeah man. You just saved my ass. No particular video showed how to remove a colorado pulley. Sub for life!!!
Awesome video thanks for sharing, what brand of kit is that?
So do you have to take the whole steering pump out..or can you take it off with the pump still inside.???
Thanks for showing how it works.
How did you know the pulley was installed all the way? What do you mean it will extract itself?

So....clockwise to detach?
Thank you for posting this video.
Hey there.. I noticed the pulley is pressed in further in the new pump's shaft... did you experience any misalignment on the belt ?
My guess is in this video, the new pump shaft may have been a tad bit longer. As long as the pulley is seated, it will be where it needs to be. And I'm still using the same pump on the truck, no issues. (Knock on wood).

Thank you for this video! It helped us tremendously!
Awsome video thanks what kind of wrench is it your using gonna need to buy a bigger one wanna make sure u I get the right one!
Excellent video. What did you mean by "extracting itself". Does it become easier to ratchet? Thks..jc
Thank you for the very informative video!! It was exactly what I needed.
Omg thank you so much super simple instructions 🙏
What if pulley is damaged?? Some idiot before me used a hammer on the pulley and now i can't use the pulley straight to pull it out.
Thanks brother !
What they don't tell you is that the center screw has to screw snug on the inside
What if it doesn’t fit lol
Well that's a no brainer! Otherwise pulley is not going to come off ..smh
Thank you! Right to the point!
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Why would you tighten it up to remove it? I thought left was loose and right was tightening?
Its just the way the tool is threaded.
Well done!
Thanks for this video, helps alot.
My pump doesn’t have a flange it can connect to.. does anybody know how to get it off with no flange (lip) on the power steering pump.
Awesome job ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

This is old but all the way untill the pulley turns. Your squealing is from the belt to sitting on the pulley right 👌
Very similar to pulling a crank on a bicycle
Parts store will rent the tools
For free too! They usually just require a deposit and give your money back when you return the tool.
Yup! A 100 bucks at O'Reilly. But you get it back when returning the tool.

I need to change bearing
I get it loose. I destroy the inner screw. Mine is maybe 30years old. How get I to lift the pulley?
Thanks for vedeo it helped a lot.
Thanks!!!
Magic 🔥
You forgot the piece that goes in the end of that screw it goes down the middle of that nut
Forgot, or just chose not to use it?
Did you use oil or never seze in shaft before installing pully ???
Nice video. Than you
Nice !! Preciate the help ! Helpful video
No way to do this without this tool huh?
Nope. That tool just pulled the lip off my pulley. Fml
Same just happened to me tonight. Have to Express deliver a new one for the new pump...
Same. Used a autozone one(OEM) brand and it ate the pulley lip on my chevy 305
Having the EXACT same experience with the exact same brand right now.
I bought a kit for 20 at harbor freight and it worked perfect and the parts store will charge you about 25 just to rent it
Yea but you get that $25 back with the loaner tool
@@jsolo7576 Yeah but you get a life time warranty at harbour frieght. So $20 for the set you can't go wrong with that.

Next time heat the inner part of the pulley with a propane bottle torch. Then take it off 👌 I do it all the time on seized parts
Take off the giant bracket and buy a removal kit. Easy. Funny!
LOL I know right! I'm so surprised at the folks who think this is a difficult job!

None of these videos, ever show us how or which or what way, or which end to put the bolt in.

Cool I now know to use a "BIG WRENCH" smh does nobody know how to tell sizes that you need to use. Great for a video trash how to js
Really? You need to know what size wrench is being used? SMH

And for some great reason, mine went crooked a bit and is now stuck...😑
