The fact that Shadow is faster than a motorcycle and can shoot energy blasts, but hops on a motorcycle and grabs a gun just to flex on everyone else will always make me laugh on how badass it is.
To be fair, he was infusing the bike with his energy to make it faster. Eggman did this with his hovercraft in the first movie to keep up with Sonic.

@Arashi257 It has to do with a demonic alien warlord who's proficient in chaos energy being part of Shadow's DNA - he manipulates it like instinct, not even needing emeralds to do advanced things like teleport.

There was a 2nd post credit scene that shows Shadow survived. But it doesn't show any hints at Eggman so he might actually be dead.
I doubt Eggman is actually dead.
I’ve heard it claimed that this was as close as they could _get_ to implying his survival. In showing that Shadow survived, and remembering that Shadow’s ability in this is _teleportation,_ and that chaos energy ‘exploding’ could easily magic in a possibility of his survival.

Just like Knuckles, they put respect on Shadows name. They returned him to his SA2 personality. I like how instead of being reprogrammed to be evil, he's just wants revenge for what happened to Maria.
He's technically being 'reprogrammed', but its through normal means of gaslighting and manipulation by Gerald.

Nah. He was gaslighting him. Gerald is grieving and hates the world and he wants Shadow to FEEL that grief so he keeps feeding him so much to fuel that hatred for humanity help him destroy it.
Shadow didn't even want revenge at first. Shadow has no previous experience with grief and because Walters trapped him in stasis he's had no opportunity to process his grief either. Remember when he sees Gerald he asks for help because he doesn't know what to do with his grief. It's Gerald who tells him to seek revenge. Where Tom and Maddie gave Sonic love and support, Gerald gave Shadow manipulation and suicidal ideation.
The akira slide up the building was pure aura.

The look on Gerald Robotnik face after what happened to Maria was heartbreaking. Went from sadness to pure rage so quick.
From the games it is known that he loved her very much and tried to find a cure for her fatal disease.

So basically, it’s confirmed that Maddie foreshadows who’s going to be in the next Sonic movies based off what colors she wears lol. She wore red & black in Sonic 2 which gave us Shadow & she wore pink in this one, which told us it’ll have Amy.
I hope she wears shining silver pants with a blazing purple jumper in Sonic 4 then.

But I kinda hope that we just focus on Amy since she's the more prominent member of the main cast, especially since the end scene implies that she's also from the future, so she might be taking on aspects of Sally as well.

Keanu does a great job voicing Shadow. The scenes with Maria destroyed me, Shadow and Sonic's battle was epic, and that scene on the moon was just beautiful.

That whole final fight scene with Live and Learn playing in the background was peak cinema.

Too many marvel movies have made me paranoid with staying till all the credits to see if there's another scene after everything. At the end of the credits, you see one of the rings shadow took off earlier and you see him pick it up conforming that he's still alive, so we'll likely see him again too
Apparently he might get his own movies. I’d imagine he meets people like Rouge and the other characters.

I agree Sheera. Shadow is hella cute. His quills even manage to look fluffy with how they stick out compared to Sonic's.
I don't care what anyone says Sonic 3 was *PEAK CINEMA* and was such an amazing rollercoaster of emotions with so much fun, epic action, emotion, and passion, and I loved it so much! This is hands down the best movie in the trilogy so far, and while Ive never played any Sonic games, Im just amazed by how much love and genuine respect the people behind these movies have for the games and its fanbase by giving us what we want while doing their own thing. I absolutely LOVED what they did with Shadow, and Keanu Reeves was perfect casting. They really found the perfect balance of making him serious and an intimidating threat but not too edgy or gritty to the point that it is annoying or hard to take seriously; as you see how uncertain he is about what he's doing and how we see moments of innocence in him, where we see how uncertain he is about whether Maria would've wanted him to destroy the Earth and how he mentally struggles with finding purpose or closure after Maria's death. Sonic, Shadow and Gerald all really parallel each other since they've all lost people they loved, but they all handled grief in their own ways, and fortunately, Sonic was able to help Shadow heal from his rage and heartbreak from Maria's loss. Still, whereas Sonic and Shadow are lucky enough to grow beyond their grief, Gerald Robotnik never did, and he could never let his own hatred go. BTW Jim Carrey is just perfect as Eggman and has been consistently perfect and hilarious in the role in 3 movies, especially in this movie I love how they gave him a character arc of embracing the love and friendship of those who genuinely care about you as Agent Stone really was the only person who cared about Robotnik and at least he chose to let go of his narcism after realising how insane his grandfather truly was, to do something right for once in his life and save the Earth while also sacrificing himself which is a surprisingly heartfelt full circle moment for his character. Jim Carrey truly was the perfect cast as Eggman, and I truly couldn't imagine anyone else as Robotnik in live-action.
Overall, I loved this movie, and I cannot wait for Sonic 4 after that post-credit scene and how *BALLISTICALLY HYPED* people were in my theatre and I can't wait to see more of Amy and Metal Sonic in Sonic 4.🩷🤍🤖🦔

I genuinely didn't think I'd get this invested in a Sonic franchise, to the point of genuinely wanting a 4th movie
I love how out of all the franchises out there, Sonic is the one that understands to just give the audience what they want to see.
It's kinda scary when you realize that Gerald is basically a goofy sci-fi version of a suicide mass shooter but on a global scale...
I mean when he reveals his plan, he clearly doesn't give a shit what Eggman thinks anymore. His face when Eggman says you can't annihilate the Earth was like "Oh yeah? lol". But it's also scary the idea of being dragged into a suicide mission. And the fact that not only does he want to destroy the Earth, but being willing to kill his grandchild and himself shows he has no fear, nothing to lose. Nothing holding him back. He's truly dangerous.
And on top of that, HEAVILY manipulative. Like a poison to the ear and mind.
For a movie people assume is "for kids", they sure didn't dumb down the stakes. Even WITH all the comedy.
The call back of "I'll miss your lattes with steamed Austrian goat milk... I love the way you make them!" Had me literally weeping in the cinema. Grown ass man in the theatre by myself in a room full of kids who probably didn't even see the first one. No shame, no regrets.
That moment you realize Dr Robotnik and Agent Stone have the EXACT same relationship as Mr Burns and Mr Smithers from the Simpson’s…and somehow that made the two of them even MORE enjoyable.
And Live and Learn hype at maximum. So much Sonic hype and I can’t wait to see what the 4th movie has in store with Amy and Metal Sonic. Smiling ear to freaking ear.

They are so adapting Sonic CD with the time travel, man. Metal Sonic looks so rad, you notice Metal was a different color than all the clones too? The clones had darker grey paintjobs while Metal was dark blue. It's hard to see in the night lighting.

a lot of reactors and people who watched this movie catch the early theme in it which was sonic learning to make good/bad choices but to always be himself no matter what but what no one realizes is that when Doc first came on screen he was talking about how family has "emotional claymores and leaves you abandoned and betrayed" thats exactly what he got when he met Gerald later on so ina way the movie was always dropping hints of character arcs throughout
The last 30 minutes of the movie with Super Sonic and Shadow is why I went to watch it in theaters twice, it's so fun!

I will say, I'm disappointed they didn't go above & beyond, and give a legit reason as to why Shadow is similar to Sonic in initial appearance or why he's a Hedgehog, when he's really an alien created by Black Doom.

When the camera panned up and showed the "Welcome to New York" sign and he said "Where'd you GO!?" I laughed and it reminded me of the Simpsons when they were on this boat and Milhouse saw the Statue of Liberty and was like "The Statue of Liberty!!?? Where ARE we!??"

So in the Archie comics, Eggman made an android copy of himself before he died of unknown reason as a failsafe to live on his legacy. My theory is that Stone makes this Android Copy because he misses Eggman
As much as I enjoyed this movie, my one criticism is to why they changed Shadow's and Maria's story so much. Like, they end up in space with a giant Eggman space-laser that pisses on the moon anyway. I don't know, like they took a different route to the same ending; I don't hate it, it just feels odd. I wonder if and how they could work in Maria's sickness and Black Doom. Also, Amy at the end had me fucking hype; her and the Metals make me think the next one might take the story from Sonic CD, assuming there is time-travel. And just imagining Sonic taking her back to camp, the 3 guys are dumb-founded and Maddie's a little excited there's finally another girl here.

How Rings are used in the films is literally a direct reference to the Archie Comics continuity, where it was originally Knuckles who had Warp Rings before other prominent characters also obtained them from him. Their main purpose was to be able to more conveniently travel back and forth to and from Angel Island so flying wasn’t always necessary.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but for movie 4, they gotta ever so slightly tweak Sonic's, well, everything. Don't get me wrong he's adorable & I love that he's got an actual character arc now, but idk it's like a combination of the childish jokes, Ben's voice/line delivery, and his design that just doesn't completely land for me. To me right now, movie Sonic is like a kid in middle school who thinks he's funny and cool, vs game Sonic who's ACTUALLY funny and cool lmao.

Agreed but I will say he was at his best in this one so hopefully that continues into Movie 4 with his improvement
That is indeed an unpopular opinion. Sonic is known for joking around, so getting rid of it would kinda suck.

Nah but akira sliding up the tower and standing straight underneath the upsidedown bike was the cleanest movement i have ever seen in a movie.

When Shadow has finished decimating Team Sonic, the way Sonic tries to stagger to his feet before collapsing in front of Shadow is almost shot for shot the way he does the same during the opening movie of the Shadow the Hedgehog video game.
Shadow then proceeds to steal a motorbike and a gun from the G.U.N. soldiers, which he also has in Shadow the Hedgehog.
