      I mean if those 2 players actually delivered on their hype based on their supposed talent, none of their old teams would value them as throw away trade considerations. The reason why Tatum is still with the Celtics is because they knew what he had with his scoring/shooting and solid ability to attack the rim. But the C's also wanted to try help improve him as a defensive player with his his 6'11" wingspan. So this year he's vital to the Cs ability to jump passing lanes to ballhawk for steals while still providing offense. Essentially Tatum kept getting better as he gets to his peak while Fultz and Ball are probably never going to hit the peak that people overhyped them for.

      v Compluhcated my favorite series was 2010 NBA finals. Kobe is my favorite player (RIP 💜💛), lakers favorite team. Meaningful series, revenge series. Went 7 games. Game 7 was sloppy and both teams had to puzzle piece their offense together just to finish with an 83-79 final score. So the storyline, plus the actual on-court product made middle school me really invested. Other than that, 2009 lakers nuggets, 2009 bulls vs Celtics, 2010 lakers-suns, 2017 wizards Celtics are all really good series.

      I could agree. But very few thought he was absolutely ready for the pro game based on what they saw out of him from Louisville years. Hell look at his game log in the 17/18 season and you can see HOW he evolved. He didn't take off as a scorer until about a month and a half after where he showed he can put up 20+ ppg. But the key growth was that he was attacking the hoop and getting to the line more around March 2018 while maintaining his scoring as the Jazz were getting ready for the playoffs.

      Its not a bad problem. I think Brand The GM may have overlooked the value of a good wing/perimeter scorer and playmaker in his lineup with Embiid and Simmons. Last season in the playoffs against the Sixers Jimmy Buckets was doing work bailing out the Sixers when Embiid was reduced to a normal player and Simmons wasn't much of a factor. It just so happens that the Raps had Kawhi to win that game 7. Simmons is also valuable enough as an asset to move for a wing player. The problem is if Brand can get some of these teams to bite and take Simmons without giving up too much.

    Donvan Mitchell is the prime example of a player who was completely different from his college years and working very hard to change himself for the pro game. More so than the guys drafted before him which some were coming with absurd hype (Ball) unreal projections (Jackson) or picking based on pure athleticism (Fox, Frank 8th pick). And not every young can pick up and learn these skillsets the same way over the summer to add what they may be lacking. Or in some cases HEAVILY lack to compensate. Hell for what obvious weaknesses Mitchell has, he is a more complete player than most of the guys picked ahead of him in the video.

      Bam gets honorable mention. Jazz got mad value getting a scorer and playmaker wing type player outside the top 3 where the talent was there for that position. But the Heat scored a gem in quite honestly the best center for the modern NBA. Sure Bam can't shoot from beyond the arc but no other center in the league has his combination of athleticism, fluidity, handles and decision making which makes him one of the best passing big men in PnR/DHO offenses. He's no slouch on defense either with his size and wingspan.

    To clarify something. The nuggets had no intention of taking Mitchell, they essentially traded the pick to the Jazz, who only wanted to take the pick if Mitchell was still available, if not the trade would have never happened.

    The Thunder trading for Kennard for Gallinari would be good. I would have been ok with taking Blake too if we threw in CP3 and we’d need Reggie Jackson too. I think the salaries would work.

    Sometimes a draft pick is more about fit than talent. Like why draft shaq 1st overall to the lakers when they already have wilt or kareem

    • @15r52
      @15r52 4 года назад

      That's the kind of thinking that gets a franchise in trouble you should always take the best player available and make it work,especially when its a once in a lifetime player like shaq lebron kd etc

    The Kings and the Hornets seem to be always on these videos for choosing the wrong player. The Kings had a chance to make for not drafting Mitchell with Fox by drafting Haliburton and blew that too by trading him. The Hornets are doing the same thing to Lamelo that they did with Kemba. Not being able to pair him with anyone else.

    Monk hasn't gotten any consistent minutes in Charlotte. When he plays he gets buckets.

    • @RicetheCaptain

      I wouldn’t say he gets buckets but when he’s in a proper role and given the ball he’s very effective. All he needs is his jumper back and he’s a all star not even exaggerating.

    In my opinion, the Nuggets (since they traded him), 76ers, Mavericks, and Hornets are the biggest teams to miss out on Donovan Mitchell. Denver could have Murray and Mitchell as their backcourt? Oof. Considering, Philly's management for over 3 decades, we honestly wish someone would sacrifice themselves to draft Mitchell. But Tatum would be even better for us. You're right there. Fultz was just looking like the thing at the time. I can say that this time unlike with Evan Turner in 2010. Mitchell in Dallas might give Luka a bigger reason to stay and maybe they would have beaten the Clippers this year. And Charlotte drafting Mitchell might have Kemba still committing to a team that is contempt with mediocrity. No, not you, Portland. But hey, LaMelo Ball would probably be a Warrior right now and win the 8th seed this now, so that might be better for him and Mitchell.
    Seriously, anywhere but fucking Utah. That franchise deserves nothing.

    a lot of first-round picks were statistically wasted but still a promising class when given proper attention and development...
    .
    like for fultz and ball, they recovered their game when they were traded... but others except for mitchell still have an average career
    .
    fox has special skillset too maybe unleashed when he's around high-caliber teams... and/or when kings literally revamped their inconsistent roster...

    So just because Sabonis and Oladipo start popping off out of Orlando all of a sudden means players blossom when they leave Orlando? How did Dwight do after leaving Orlando?

    • @Mrdonjuliothewicked
      @Mrdonjuliothewicked 4 года назад

      Fegis Mcclaren it’s more so the fact almost all their picks since the Dwight trade haven’t lived up to their expectations based off where they were drafted, and the ones that did, did so after they left Orlando. I personally like Isaac and the trade for Fultz, but they hadn’t done too well drafting or trading this past decade.
