Where are all the women? (Interviews with Pakistani Girls)

  • "The feeling of freedom should have no gender".
I loved my time in Pakistan and made many positive videos (feel free to check them out). But I did feel the need to make at least one video addressing the inequality in not only Pakistan, but the entire region. And while there is inequality all around the world, the women of Pakistan (and regionally) are facing a lot of unique challenges.
So, what can we do about it?
If you're a parent, make sure your daughters have the same access to opportunities, freedoms, travel, and education as your sons.
If you're a politician, enforce laws and punishments against people who harass or hurt women.
If you're an educator, make sure girls in your community have access to education. Teach their parents that educated girls = more income for the family and a better community.
If you're a man, make sure you respect the women in your life. Make sure you believe them when they say something happened. Make sure you don't allow your male friends to objectify women behind their backs.
If you're just a kid or teenager, do your best at school, and become a leader, politician, or anything with influence. Become a lawyer, and change these laws. Prosecute the people who make this world unsafe.
    Thanks for watching!

I am a Pakistani teenage girl and i can assure you that i sometimes don't want to be equally treated as men because Now men Respect me.
They don't stop you at check posts if you are a woman and if you have a woman with you, it is the same.
Once there was a long line of men at a place and when i came ALL of them moved back a little and I got to do the thing before them!
Religious men mostly do this. Once a bearded uncle came out of the shop when he was standing there for a while to allow me to take the groceries and i just came. This didn't happen only once but a lot of times.

Hi Alyne,I would like to explain a few things. I always have believed that Pakistan is still around 50 years behind the world when it comes to women. However,The reason u wont find many women on the streets is because usually u would find people on the streets are those who are students ( male) and people leaving home to buying some house items ( males) specially during day time. Female students usually come home on vans or busses. If you go to food streets you will find less women because there are so many men there women feel uncomfortable there. The women in my own family who are not forbidden or are stopped for going anywhere wont go there and they usually send us the men because they dont want to go where so many men are ( so many men are there because they are chilling there with friends and all). You would find more women than men in markets selling cloths because thats what apparently appeals to most pakistani women and thats not what men are known here to be good at. Also u would see alot of women if you visit a university. So in short here in Pakistan some jobs are in a household are for women and some for men. However i agree Pakistan needs to do alot to improve. My country is so progressive in some laws and so regressive in some parts. Like do u know that in 1988 we elected a women prime minister Benazir bhutto who became the first female to lead a muslim country after 770 years. We also have health insurance for Transgenders and they are allowed to identify as third sex. Abortions are legal. Every political party who contests election has to field atleast 10% women candidates otherwise they cant contest elections. There are job quotas for women in all government jobs. There are 60 reserved seats for women in parliament. Pakistans current information ministers,Defense production minister,Enviornment ministers are women. So yes Pakistan has alot to imrpove but we are not that bad. Cheers.Adios

Health insurance for the people with gender dysphoria? Good idea, if it means that these people can have acces to really good therapists who help for them accept what they are, instesd of affirming their confusion.
As you should remember from elementary school, male means somebody has xy sex chromosomes and female means somebody has xx sex chromosomes. They cannot be changed, it's physically impossible.
So no one is "trans". Being a woman/man is not an identity.
And how the hecko could they even be a third gender when they think they are the OPPOSITE gender? Not a NEW one.

Maybe that restriction not apply equally but it also apply for both gender.. ☹️ outing at late night considered bad for both man & woman in this country.. Otherwise we can go to grocery, school, College, office alone.. Actually fact is in festival time like Eid there hardly seen any man in the market..that time only shopkeepers are man.. Situation in Bangladesh Isn't that bad right??... For safety we can't go out late night.. Most of the men also avoid outing late at night for Being afraid of robing.. Otherwise situation Isn't that bad that woman can't go alone.. It's simple here.. ☹️

Another interesting thing is that the 'lucky' women who can live in European countries or in the US, generally in first world countries, like for example in the UK, many of them are still continuing to live the same way as back home in their homelands, maybe they force themselves or they are forced by their husbands and family or both. It would be great that only those women and men could come to Europe etc. who understand this type of lifestyle and want to live this way, who can think out of the box. They should have given the chance to move to another countries and to travel the world to see and experience that they can live differently. People who move to first world countries and want to live the same way as they lived in their homelands probably are going to transform their new home counties into something very similar as their birth countries. I've been living in London, and some parts look like the streets of Pakistan or Bangladesh. And the same is going on in German cities, too.

If this is perimeter to judge rights then bazaars which you call markets are full of girls. Does it mean yhey are enjoying women rights? Women are not on places like electrician shops or on vehicle servicing shops because they dony like to go or work there. Places Where women dont comfortable men go there. Financial independency in most of pakistan is not related to person but family and women here are also benefited by getting everything they want without struggling

As a woman who is a part of the video, I think the issue about us being privileged is addressed when we mention that we are not the norm.
However, what is important to note is that DESPITE the privilege we are still restricted in means of mobility and access to public spaces the way that the male relatives are not. It comes down to gender and simply put, women don’t have equal access to opportunities as men do.

Idk the women this vlogger met, how did those women let her think that the country is this backward. While there are places in Pakistan that face certain issues like mentioned but it’s not across the entire country. Honestly disappointed I mean I’m not a vlogger or anything but I have traveled alone , education is the first and foremost important thing , stares well everyone stares someone it’s either men staring women or women staring men and it’s a global thing. Honestly you should have done your research more, if you would have traveled across the entire country and then direct a topic so particularly maybe it wouldn’t have turn out to be this hurtful. While yes the change is happening it’s not happening fast enough and it’s due to being a victim to terrorism and now as allhamdullilah we have been cleared of that now Pakistan is emerging as a country where the message of equality is being spread across entire country. I just wish you would have done more research.

Telling people not to listen to their parents doesn't make any sense. You want to tell me that you just did everything without asking. I don't believe that. Everyone ask if you can go outside, or play at your friends place, or stay at the school playground a bit longer. Don't act like we in the west don't ask our parents for things.

There's a reason why u do good so you know what's not good. You can't blame families for keeping their daughters safe, because everyone knows someone telling you to do good is thinking the best for you in the long term not for the moment. And saying certain things like your parents should do this or that will make people turn against parents so I don't think that's a good thing. We all know if u stay to yourself you will stay good but once u go out more sooner or later u will get led astray because people naturally don't like to see u doing good. Its proof how many people do you see saying if u do good you be good nobody follows the way of Islam so we all should do better in this lost world. Look at people who do go out every single day and night they don't usually do anything that makes a good a future person man or woman. BALANCING THINGS IS KEY 🗝 NOT BECOMING A WILD OUT PERSON AND STARTING TO DO BAD THINGS AND LEARNING BAD HABITS CLUBBING SMOKING DRINKING ETC. WE MUSLIMS DON'T HAVE MANY GOOD PLACES OR GOOD THINGS TO TEACH US AND THE PEOPLE AFTER US SO I DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT THEM, WE WILL GO TO THE CINEMA, RESTAURANT, SHOPPING AND OTHER PLACES WHICH DON'T LEAD US AWAY FROM WHO WE ARE WHY OUR OLDERS DONE GOOD. LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE NOT THE EASIEST OPTION. A Man and woman working together make a good home. I'M NOT WITH ANY SIDES ONLY ALLAH GOOD LUCK INSHAALLAH. YOU DO GOOD AND GET GOOD 🙏🏼

If they continue spending heavily on bombs and training terrorism there ain't any hope for the people. Days aren't far for Pakistan to become another North Korea. But that ain't people's fault. I visited thailand and was shocked to see women loading and unloading...in pakistan if a women changes tyre 5 men come forward to help in sense of respect... here men provide for family... women enjoy equal opportunities while unemployed...yes change is happening...many women are earning...but we cant deny the fact that in 80% families men are responsible for bread and butter thats why u see mostly men as vendors...

Hypocrisy is everywhere, Hypocrisy is in liberal and conservative too, In east and west too.... In rich and poor countries too, The educated and in ignorant too. Sadly I say this no one want to be sensitive. No one want to be realised that our life as a human is more important for others who needs us in their struggling life who don't wear good clothes, who don't live in homes, who can't get healthy meal and who can't afford water, who can't buy bread, who can't survive without medicine, who needs cure, who needs smile, who needs lifestyle like as we have, who needs love, humbleness, dignity, self respect and many other things but these concerns are not for us and not for as a human! That's the biggest hypocrisy of global village.

no different than single women who wander at night in streets of New York City then get raped and robbed (one was even killed a few months ago in chinatown). you are asking for trouble as a single girl all alone at night on the street. doesn't matter the country.

Look at what happens to girls out alone usually at night they get robbed, kidnapped or raped (Astaghfirullah) So if you love your family would you want your family out.
And if they really don't listen and can't see your doing what's best then let them do whatever because you've tried your best that's all we actually can do.
