  • If you are having transmission fluid leaks through your breather hose and cap it could mean that you have over filled your transmission with transmission fluid. To solve this problem place a clean container under your transmission, unscrew the bung and leak off the excess transmission fluid.

    I had my transmission fluid changed and it started to leak fluid and it turns out it was coming from the breather hose because my mechanic put 4 Quarts of fluid in my Daihatsu Terios transmission. I thank you for your insight into this problem.

    Hi, thks for this video. I somehow lose my breather cup. So my mechanic had the holes plugged to avoid fluid loss. After watching this video, I kind of feel that was not a wise decision. Can u give me your advice on the issue, please.

      The breather cap allows the release of excess pressure built up in the transmission. This hole can not be sealed.
      Find a old breather cap in a junk yard or from a transmission that is not good and replace yours.

      @@ShelDockToyotaVitz what would be the consequences of pressure built up in the transmission?
      If I lose the cap, will my transmission begin to lose oil through the hose?

      @@josecristovaohall6411 the cap only pervent liquid or anything that could fall in from this point from falling in.
      If pressure is built up in the transmission then it can overheat much easier and damage the internal parts.

    How to change the breather plug because the breather plug of my toyota is broken

    • @ShelDockToyotaVitz
      @ShelDockToyotaVitz  Год назад

      My transmisson breather plug and cap is connected to a soft hose that is push fit. If yours is similar you can pull on the hose and it should be disconnected from the plug. The next step is to un-clip the plug from its fastener on the metal.

    Is this for a manual transmission?

    What are the symptoms if this breather is broken, can this effect your transmissions operating properly

    • @ShelDockToyotaVitz
      @ShelDockToyotaVitz  Год назад

      If you have a breather hose extending from your transmission and it is cracked or broken it can cause leakage of transmission fluid visible on the transmission close to the damaged area.

      We rebuild a cvt transmision, all clutches and seals, new fluid but it keeps slipping, there is a delay and the car is vibrating and jerkingen.The breather is the only thing that is broken but we didn’t replace. Could that be the fault

    • @ShelDockToyotaVitz
      @ShelDockToyotaVitz  Год назад +2

      @@chrisjupiter3470 Remember that the CVT transmission belt has to be properly tensioned and without this it will always slip. The breather system only releases pressure built up by the heat apply to the fluid.
      Recalibrating this transmission is necessary if it is dismantled. Unfortunately I am not an expert in this area.

    Shel dock, where is the power steering resevoir? Can't locate.

    • @ShelDockToyotaVitz
      @ShelDockToyotaVitz  Год назад +1

      Newer Yaris/Vitz 2010 and up uses a electric motor to assist with steering. 2009 and below uses fluid to give steering assist. Power steering with fluid is usually located on the side where the steering is located under the hood.

      It is best to drain the transmission fluid in a container and pour it in a bottle that you can use to measure the fluid so that you can know how much you should refill with.
