Thank you for saving us hundreds on diagnostics from scummy shops that think it costs $300 to look under a car and go “yep, that’s where that’s leaking from” you rock dude
I thought Len, (Lennys?) explanation was simple and easy to follow. He had a good speaking voice, delivery, and sincerity in his tone. Storytelling ability is so critical these days so I'm thankful for people like this.
Got a 2000 Ford Excursion, V10, 6.8 beast on 4 inch lift kit. Just fixed my return hose line then she started leaking trans fluid and started to whistle. This vid confirms my diagnosis. Awesome
You make things so easy if only my leak is not a bigger issues then expected. Thank you for your information kinda relives me of a little stress how simple you talk about it
Thanks, great overview. However; Breather vents/tubes? You forgot to mention I think a loose sump plug (part of the pan but a separate item at the same time).
I have a 97 Chev Lumina, and I just changed the battery, and it was sitting idle for 1.5 years, and did not drive it. Changed the battery today, everything was great, all interior lights went on, and she started on one crank. Took if for a drive, and noticed this red fluid dripping out badly from under the car. It wouldn't likely be power steering fluid, as you would get whining from the pump when low on fluid. It's sort of reddish fluid on the ground, and smells a bit oily, and has a bit of body to the fluid. After driving it for 5-6 miles and not knowing it was leaking until I was about 3 miles into my drive, I turned back and headed for home. As I got closer to home, and it was still leaking, it had "no power" whatsoever. I pretty much had to coast about a city block to get it to my house, where it's now parked. It is a rust bucket, but only has 50,000 miles on it, and it's a great utility car, for picking up building supplies etc, and I'd like to keep it. When I took it for a ride, it shifted smoothly etc ??? So, I was thinking, I could get lucky, and it may be leaking from the transmission cooler lines, as your video explains ? I think these lines wouldn't be expensive. Also my big leak, was coming directly from under the radiator, so it makes sense, Also the leak could be coming from the drain plug, at bottom of transmission drain pan. NOTE - this leak is coming out fast and steady, creating a pool on the ground fast. Maybe I'll get lucky :) and hear back from you as to what this likely is ?? If it was just leaky seals or gaskets, the fluid wouldn't be heavily squirting out. It would slowly drip out -- I would think.
I paid 95 dollar's for a radiator on my range rover with 1A auto got it in 3 day's plus new in the box...note everyone else wanted 400 - 600 dollar's I chanced these guy's and stayed with them since 2016

I replaced the transmission shift seal 6 weeks ago. Then replaced the right axle and axle seal 7 days ago. Then suddenly the left or drivers side axle seal blows out! 🤣 It was perfectly dry until we replaced the right axle and seal. Well at least they will all be replaced.
What about the vent that is a spring loaded vent? I just replaced my clutch and I’m now having transmission fluid leak from this when I try to put it in gear
This video was very interesting but I’m still at a loss with my BMW. I have a reddish-pink colored leak at the front of my car, just behind the engine. If it matters it’s a BMW N54 straight six engine. Am I safe to assume this is also an ATF leak or could it be something else? The car is a project car and has quite a few issues. I also have a spongy brake pedal so I was thinking it may also be brake fluid. Any suggestions are welcome!
Transmission fluid is usually pink coolant can be but isn’t as dyed as gravy fluid and different doesn’t smell feel the same. Brake fluid is pretty clear yellow like
🙋This video is super awesome and way past cool. After installing a new automatic shifter cable on the Hummer H2 I now have this strange leak I've yet to figure out but with the help of this video I should be able to narrow it down to a couple of places👍😎👌
Turns out the leak was coming from a pair of rusty transmission cooler lines. Went to O'Reilly's auto and purchased some replacement hose along with some adjustable metal clamps then I cut off the bad part of the cooler lines to bridge the gap with the new hose. Worked like a charm at least for now anyway.👍😎👌
Hey Brother Hands down the best video ever love good people like you, now i pray to God the shop doesn't tell me i need a brand new transmission 2011 Kia Sportage with only 30k miles i want to think positive, but unfortunatly there are scumbags and scamers out there, but you soild love and upmost Respect The Pryor Family 👍👍
So what if I ran over a sharp item on the freeway- and it punctured something underneath which cause red fluid to leak out? Any general part name that could be compromised so I can know exactly what I'm looking for that will help me narrow down what part/parts maybe damaged?@1A Auto
All the symptoms you said were happening with my car and at the end I think my transmission just blew up. My car would go forward while it’s in reverse and in neutral
Great video I’ve noticed with my Fj cruiser 2016 that when I go from drive to neutral (short while after starting the car) a shirt but distinct wine ... just wondering if you have any thoughts on this A1 Auto? Thanks
Yes I have a transmission leak I looked under my 2000 Grand Cherokee Jeep and it looks like there's transmission fluid everywhere in the whole front to say the middle of the car
I've got a 95 Dodge B2500 van. The transmission coolant line on the passenger side is slowly leaking where it connects to the radiator. Problem is, I cannot find a replacement for that line. Anywhere. Only one I can find is the driver's side.
1A Auto Parts my car don’t go into gear 4 and 5 and i diagnose the transmission and computer was telling me that those solenoid is bad, can this problem stop after changing this? Please i need your advice thanks
You lost me on on the output seal and then saying internal seal… what’s that part called? My truck is leaking between the transfer case and transmission. Due to my rear shaft falling while doing 70 mph damaging my fuel line and that…
Lol love how animated his mannerisms are... quick question: .. i bottomed out my 2015 nissan sentra now the pan leaks and the car vibrates significantly when in gear.. any idea what exactly coulve happened? Aside from the the pan (big dent on it)
My truck is a 95 f150 5.0l v8 it's a stock transmission and it has a square block for the tail housing but I have no idea why it's still leaking with new gasket on pan and still leaks in the back of the pan with new pan and gasket as well as new bolts. What can I do to fix it and is there a gasket or seal above the leak
I currently am facing an issue with a transmission leak. I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ a 5.3. My check engine light flashes when my rpm’s go higher and struggle with accelerating. But when I let off the throttle the check engine light goes away. Plugged GM scan tool into it and it said p0300. Changed plugs, all 8 coils and has coil harness on both sides. It’s been a real pain trying to fix this issue. It’s been at 3 shops and they say it’s a transmission issue but one said it could be a bad clutch or valve body. But I’m not sure if a failing valve body would make the engine to misfire. Thanks and let me know!

Hi, my 04 Silverado temp gauge is fluctuating and I have a transmission leak, both started at the same time. Gotta diagnose the leak still but could these be related? Perhaps fluid is landing on thermometer and messing with it? 1AAuto is a friend not a company, to me. Thank you

@@1AAuto Thanks for your reply. I won’t ask for a diagnosis but I’m thinking it’s coolant from the thermostat housing. It’s the highest point where I see fluid and I don’t see anything coming from the water pump. Is there a gasket in the thermostat housing? Is this a logical place for coolant to leak? Thank you.
If the transmission is liking under the vehicleit could be cause there is too much fuiid and cause causing no reverse do I have to chance the transmission or reconstruction of it?

Does it make any difference if the transmission is in Park or Neutral when your checking it with the engine running?
Check your owners manual or some even have instructions on the trans dipstick

@George how much
You hit something? Happened to me on me jeep. 3 days later I look over and tranny fluid everywhere
Would your vehicle notify you if it’s low on trans fluid??? Like a check engine light?
I'm currently having this problem with my 2006 ford ranger and I had to get it towed but now I know why thank you!
Fixed it?
Could one use a UV dye to detect the leak? It will be the type of dye similar to what mechanics use in detecting engine leaks.
