    I like this concept. I hope they stick with it and let it develop. It has potential. (In general, there's a lot of space in the media for looking back at football. There's always so much focus on news.)
    I would suggest a longer version of the broadcast with more time for them to speak though.

      As the guys get loose with it, it could just be free form with talk about whatever comes to mind - just having fun.
      Good to have something in the offseason which is relaxed, not hardcore analysis.

    This makes me miss this era of football. 2004/5-2011 in my mind was the best time in football history. In college and NFL. So many legendary and historic players and teams, i wont begin to name them all. I think about this era of football at least once a week. I wish i could go back and experience it all over again

    I’ll never forget where I was during this draft. I got into a jet ski accident the day before and then spent this entire day eating pizza and watching the draft, despite not really being a draftnik. In many ways, that experience made me the massive fan of the draft that I am today (also the Jets literally never being good)

    I didnt watch this draft but in 2011 i was a junior in high school. I remember being happy that Cam Newton was gonna be gone from Auburn and they could return to being bad. Those teams with Cam brought me quite a bit of pain. 😢😂

    So as a Jacksonville Jaguars fan...It has been said locally here that the Blane Gabbert years here were constantly he looks like he is putting it all together in practice. Then crapped the bed on game day. One Jacksonville head coach I think Mularkey said he was the best practice player he had ever seen.

    I was listening to a Buffalo area radio station as the draft was getting started. Once the Panthers took Newton, the consensus seemed to be that the Bills should take Dareus or Miller, whichever one Denver didn't take. And I'll never forget what the guy said. "If this pick is anyone OTHER than Marcel Dareus, whoever gets taken with this pick will be the most heavily scrutinized player in the history of the franchise."

    I rewatched the 2014 draft not too long ago. I think that would be a fun one for you guys to cover next. The talent available and the trades and slides drama are imo better than this class

    Great show but I would’ve loved a bit more talk about each pick. Kinda superficial and with the in depth knowledge one has gotten used to from this podcast I think a lot was left on the table.

    I expect most of us are pretty hardcore football fans who watched these guys' careers. I pretty much remember which spots guys went at, and certainly which teams they played for.

    Crazy trade for Julio. He was awesome but it really made no sense at the time. Needed a pass rush after not being able to stop the Packers.

    Sherrod had a really bad leg injury during the 2011 season. Poor left tackle play probably cost the Packers at least a conference championship in 2011.

    On jj watt, his college dline coach was just hired by the Colts. And a big reason colts media points to is that he coached jj watt... but like you point out watt took a while to pan out anyway lol.

    Even in 2011, the QB prospects were overhyped and overrated. Football fans just never learn 😂

    • @ShonTV15
      @ShonTV15 4 месяца назад +5

      It’s gonna continuously happen simply by virtue of how important the position is. Everyone is desperate to find that next franchise QB, so they’ll always find a way to see the best in almost every QB prospect.

    • @claysimonsen
      @claysimonsen 4 месяца назад +1

      I don’t think that they’re overhyped and overrated. They are the single most important position in all of (the major) sports by a wide margin. It’s absolutely worth it to keep trying to get your guy in a league where you need one to win, and when they can instantly change the fortunes of your franchise. There is a huge amount of non QB first rounders that bust as well

    • @TheGuitarded1
      @TheGuitarded1 4 месяца назад +1

      @@claysimonsen Yes they are overhyped, overrated, and overvalued. And absolutely not worth it when guys like JJ Watt or Von Miller are on the board.
