Oh i like that 74 Charger bumper filler panel above your heads. Love these stories. Brings back memories of watching the 43 with my dad on a black and white TV.
Fascinating stories. I knew Billy West and actually still have a Billy West garage cap he gave me. I bought a 70 Roadrunner from him in 1998. I still have it. He showed me a 426 wedge engine he said Maurice gave him. You guys are so fortunate to have such history. N.C. is fortunate to have such great NASCAR history. I saw the wrecked car at Billys shop. Such a sad story.
As you have found out, stuff buried a few feet under ground will work its way to the top, look at rocks in a field . Keep the shows coming ,good content !!
Sure enjoy your show. That is some of the most important junk in sports history.Anything Petty is important to millions of folks. The small community of Level Cross is the Promised Land of Stockcar fans, and you guys and your family made it that way. Thanks for taking the time to give us a look into Americas First Family of Racing.
That kind of stuff is what makes racing great. All the back stories. My grandfather delivered bodies in white to Petty Enterprises one time and had a pretty good story about Lee Petty
Great down to earth and informative videos! I’m finally committing myself to finally going through NASCAR shops as I make my way south from New England wintah! Hope to meet y’all! ✌🏼
Hey, guys! Being a nearly lifetime Petty family fan, I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy your stories and videos. Fascinating!!! In 1989, I met a guy (I won't divulge his name publicly) that used to be a crew member for Richard's team. He had the passenger side "OUTLAWED" door for the first Barracuda drag car. The first drag car had "Outlawed" on the doors, and the 43Jr. on the rear quarters, just behind the doors. It's the one pictured in your video in the Petty Blue Junkyard. The later drag car just had 43Jr. on both doors. Anyway, I still own the door to this day. The guy I bought it from wrote up a "Certificate Of Authentication" for me, and I brought the door and the certificate to Richard's Fan Club summer open house in 1990. There was a place on the certificate for Richard to sign, and for Dale Inman to sign. I knew I'd be seeing Richard that day, but doubted I would see Dale. Luckily, Dale was the first one I saw. He was very surprised to see that door, and told me about converting the car from stock Barracuda to the drag version. He asked me where I got the door, of course, and knew exactly who it was that sold it to me. Dale signed my authentication certificate, and then I waited for hours in line to get Richard to do the same. He too was very surprised to see that door. The door is one of my most prized possessions, and one thing that no other Petty fan will ever have the pleasure to own. If you guys would like to talk with me about it, please message me. Thanks again for your videos and stories. You all are part of an AMAZING legacy.
Wow! Heard alot about the Petty junkyard over the years! Visited the property awhile back & was amazed at the history that still exists if you know where to look! I'm almost 70 & I grew up watching the Pettys & all of the pioneers of NASCAR! Fantastic times! Thanks for sharing the stories! Saw the recent video from the West junkyard, also! Just incredible history!👍
Another great one Petty Bros. About the cars & parts that Lee gave Mr. Biscoe...A "rumor" (for what that's worth) is that Richard was very much NOT "alright" with those junk cars & parts leaving PE that day. Won't elaborate any more, i hate rumors.
Oh, my, and yes! Ritchie, Timmy, Mark, I've always been fascinated with the Petty junkyard, both above ground plus the buried / rumored to be buried stuff. I've had and read so many books over the years, not to mention the internet, and I've seen many pictures, some fairly rare, some fairly common, of cars, pieces, and parts. I heard firsthand account about the drag Barracuda, of how it was buried, and when/how and who dug it back out and took possession of it. Anyway, I've always loved junkyards, especially ones that have some really old stuff, and even more so, ones that have old race cars in them. I used to peruse through them myself as a kid, simply fascinated. Great memories! Old junkyards aren't quite like they used to be, back in the 50's, up through the nineties. I've found and seen some treasures. I'm glad you guys related these stories, and talked about the junkyard. Obviously, you boys know probably more about it than about anyone except for maybe Richard and Kyle. I love your episodes, and look forward to the new episodes, I check them out as soon as you guys post them. Lee was always a fascinating man for me. My dad knew him back in the late fifties-mid sixties, as Lee was easing towards retirement. Dad was running Late Model Sportsman then. He's told me some great stories. Thanks for all you share with us, it's gold!
ANOTHER Awesome show guys.!...Thank you for sharing your memories. Id be diggin' up the junkyard with a backhoe. The OEMs were famous for burying stuff when they were done with it.
I attended some college classes with a cousin of Richard Petty 's sons in Delaware and he and I did some fishing ; drinking together..... During summer break l took him from Delaware to North Carolina to visit his cousins and we took five days to get there as we camped and fished along the Atlantic coast !!!!! Came home in 7 - 8 hours, I lost track of my friend Gary and family......
Thanks Gentlemen.....I'm a Machinist by trade and an amateur engine builder for local circle track stuff here in Eastern NC, folks like you 3, The Cheif, Junior, Waddell, Leonard, Robert, and many others are my heroes....I'd really love to see the Maurice Petty "The Cheif" Memorial logo on a shirt, I'd definitely buy one!!! Timmy's story about spinning off a drive shaft on the dyno at Stavola Brothers is classic....
Once again, another great episode! I’ve heard of the Petty Junkyard. Great to hear about it first hand from you guys. As far of the rumors, I get it. From 1937 to the end of the 1953 model year, my Grandfather was an Indian Motorcycle dealer. He continued to sell other brands up to 1967. Anyways, many times over the years, I heard rumors from others about the brand new Indians still in crates upstairs in his shop. Total fiction, there was even one guy who insisted I didn’t know what I was talking about, knowing full well who I was! My Dad and I both have laughed about this over the years. My Grandfather was in the business to make a living, knowing him as well as I did, he wouldn’t have ever kept new motorcycles crated up like the stories claimed. There was money to be made selling them.
Lee's 1961 Daytona Plymouth & one of the late 1950s era Oldsmobiles that Richard drove in 1958-59 are at Alex Beam's Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville.
The 63 drag car is still around. Richard didn't want it around and buried it. The guy that has it now said Richard said he could have it under 1 condition, that it never is restored/rebuilt.
I love all the stories, keep up the good work. I have been to the Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville. They have your grandfather's 1961 wreck & an Oldsmobile convertible they say is your uncle's very 1st car on display.
Definitely need to have Billy Biscoe on the show. Need to hear again his story of driving the transporter home from the 1979 Daytona 500 in the snow and rolling it over after getting SO CLOSE to the shop.
I just saw the most amazing thing. Right before the start of the 1979 Southern 500 on youtube it shows a crew member attaching a hook on Richards shoulder to a round piece of metal on the side of his helmet. The hook was attached to a strap that went under his arm. That kind of seems like an early partial Hans device. Was Richie Barsz a member of the pit crew at the track? I know he worked in the shop.
Guys- the Drag 'Cuda is still out in Selma. A Mopar guy just dropped a video from Bill West's farm a few weeks ago and the car was on the episode. I did contact him, told him what that was and that to treat it with respect because of your family & the respect people here have for you all. I've never met any of you; but Jamey out at the farm, Clifton over at Raleigh Carb, Dave B (who was at McCandless machine, then King Speed) and Billy Eubanks whose property is not far from mine in Pittsboro...I do know, run into & do business with. The guy did a good job and treated the wreckage/remains right
What info do you guys know about the '79 Chevy Monte Carlo Richard wrecked at Pocono, that was found sitting in a swampy area, where it apparently had been for 10 years or so. It was recovered and restored by Mark Kuykendall for a museum. My question is how did the car get to where it was found? Thank you for any info on this.
Hi guys! I haven't been to your shop in a loong time. Do you remember the idiot from Dodge Motorsports engine design who rebuilt Studebakers? I just stumbled across your channel. Very cool!
There's a short RUclips video posted 2 weeks ago by Mopar Connection Magazine showing an barely recognizable shell of a blue Barracuda. They state it's located at Billy West Peedin Garage in Selma, NC. Identity was said to be confirmed by Jamie Gilcrest.
I either heard the story wrong or misremembered what I'd been told. I knew Biscoe had the green light to pull some of the junk from out back. But I thought it was King who gave the OK & Lee put a stop to it. Sounds like it may have been the other way around.
Not being an asshole but just wondering if you guys ended up with the 64 barracuda that killed Wayne Dye at the Dallas Georgia dragstrip. Wayne was a cousin of mine. And btw I've always beeen a huge Richard Petty Fan. He couldn't help what happened that day.

Richard & Maurice was always held in high regards!! Great people
Many of us would love to have any piece of a Petty Car. Could be a good charity fund raiser opportunity.
Fascinating conversations. I've always loved your family. Stock car racing royalty, for sure. Pure class.
As you have found out, stuff buried a few feet under ground will work its way to the top, look at rocks in a field . Keep the shows coming ,good content !!
Petty Bros. Junkyard Archeology........the treasures are the memories. Keep the stories come'n.......

Love Hearing the History of Petty Racing Family, Keep Delivering Great Stories
That kind of stuff is what makes racing great. All the back stories. My grandfather delivered bodies in white to Petty Enterprises one time and had a pretty good story about Lee Petty
Love the great stories and the banter between brothers. Great podcast
The drag car is still at Billy's Great video as always!
Thanks for the support Larry!!
Great down to earth and informative videos! I’m finally committing myself to finally going through NASCAR shops as I make my way south from New England wintah! Hope to meet y’all! ✌🏼
Great stories as usual! Thanks guys, and keep 'em coming!

Excellent information! Thanks for sharing.
Longtime Petty fan up north saying thanks for the video!
Again , thanks guys , you are the heart of what NASCAR use to be ….the real deal ! Keep up the great work !
Great video! I always enjoy your content!
Awesome listening to the memories. I'm a 70 model so I missed some good ones but my mom loved her Plymouth and RP

I enjoy your videos. We’re the same age and I can identify with you all. Good stuff.

Cool history
Great show guys, as always. Can't wait for the next one.
Great jobs guys! Great stories.
Always wondered what happened to the 1964 Daytona 500 winning car.
Nice I’ve heard about some of the stuff that it’s buried in the yard behind the garage.
Great video!
Good area for a metal detector.

I've been to the petty museum two times, do you let people come to your place? I would to see the engine shop.
Very special Very cool
Other than Hoffa, buried stuff rises up like taters.
Looking for a wing sticking out of the ground 😅😅😅
Love the show keep it up
Man.. to be able to look through that yard.

Dale Earnhardt used one that the king gave him
I still get to see Billy Biscoe often at Caraway, I’m actually great friends with his son!
If walls and parts could talk!
Living off Richard's back ground
thanks for sharing

Sacred grounds 🗿🕌🏆
Hi guys! I haven't been to your shop in a loong time. Do you remember the idiot from Dodge Motorsports engine design who rebuilt Studebakers? I just stumbled across your channel. Very cool!
I've seen what was left of the drag car at billy west shop years ago
There's a short RUclips video posted 2 weeks ago by Mopar Connection Magazine showing an barely recognizable shell of a blue Barracuda. They state it's located at Billy West Peedin Garage in Selma, NC. Identity was said to be confirmed by Jamie Gilcrest.
Oh man, that’s like an old Indian burial ground……sacred
Just a thought. Why not have Richard on the show. Love yalls channel
I just seen a recent video of the drag car here on RUclips
I either heard the story wrong or misremembered what I'd been told. I knew Biscoe had the green light to pull some of the junk from out back. But I thought it was King who gave the OK & Lee put a stop to it. Sounds like it may have been the other way around.
Petty family is my heroes. I would love to sit and pick your brains. Your Daddy is one of the reasons I pit crewed on some dirt track cars.
why does Klye ever work with you boys?????
Not being an asshole but just wondering if you guys ended up with the 64 barracuda that killed Wayne Dye at the Dallas Georgia dragstrip. Wayne was a cousin of mine. And btw I've always beeen a huge Richard Petty Fan. He couldn't help what happened that day.
When are you getting the excavator doubt they’re will
If it were possible I would love to excavate the old stock cars in those woods, especially the old Mopars.
Y’all will be digging race car parts outta there for another 100 years or more 😂
Tell me you got that 69 Torino some where in the shop fire that pig up once in a while. That would be strange but you still have your loyal fans.
I better be careful what I post on Twitter from now on
43 👍
Hold on let me.grab a pbr
Use ground-penetrating radar you will find whatever is under there
Talk to much , not showing stuff
