Honestly, out of all the creepy crawlies and buzzing bugs, my favorite is definitely Leavanny. It has great stats, an offensive typing that gifts STAB Bug Bite, Lunge, AND Leaf Blade, Overcoat for weather immunity, and best of all, it has an absolutely gorgeous parental design. Even the Dex talks about how it makes clothes from leaves for the children!
With challenges like this, there are 2 types of players: 1) Give the rival the starter strong against themselves. 2) Give the rival the starter weakest against themselves.
Iirc, the reason Dark type is weak to Bug is because of the tradition of fighting beetles in Japanese culture. Bugs are seen as a noble force of good, so it makes sense that they'd be super-effective against what is called the "evil type" in the original Japanese versions of the games. It's actually really cool. I love bugs! I personally am a Dustox, Scolipede, and Golisopod enjoyer, but I have a special fondness for Centiskorch due to it being on the first team I ever beat a Pokemon game with. Shoutout to my boy Bacon, forever an icon.
I appreciate the commitment to making a challenge for yourself and to the "bugs suck and so do you by extension" bit itself by getting the fairy gym questions wrong. Your videos are always great to watch between the struggles, the jokes, and the editing and art throughout. It's also nice to have someone who does pokemon challenges that aren't just the same old nuzlockes. I just really like the free reign you have within a set limitation, truly looking at the mechanics of the game to exploit them in your favor, rather than just the threat of death for your pokemon looming over your head. Not that i don't enjoy nuzlockes but that your challenges are a bit more refreshing.
My favourite Bug type is probably Buzzwole. Bro's built like a Baki character and is one of the Ultra Beasts. One of the coolest Bug-types to ever exist.

I recommend that you try out Pokemon Uranium and even Pokemon Insurgence, fair warning though both games are long and Insurgence is even longer than uranium and both have long postgames as well. I have developed an addiction to your videos, you just give off so much sigma energy, positive vibes etc. Never stop being you Keegan and you will definitely get to 1mil subs in the future.

Keegan J, you seem really good at team building....I have the ultimate challenge for you. Can you beat pokemon sword gungame style? Basically everytime you use a pokemon in a trainer battle, gym battle, rival fight, or minion battle. they cannot be used again, Example if you picked scorbunny as a starter after the fight with Hop its gone. You can use its two other evolutions but never use scorbunny again. however raid battles and wild pokemon fights are allowed as you need to level lots of pokemon. will you run out of pokemon before you beat the game? or just run out of GOOD pokemon to take on the toughest of Galar gym leaders.

My favorite bug is genuinely difficult to decide on with so many awesome mons. Parasect, Venomoth, Shedinja, Mothim and Centiskorch are among my top five. Gen 9 had badass mons too with the Spidops, Lokix and Rabsca lines. Not to mention Slither Wing
Call me crazy, but I got this whole story playing in my head where I am in bug freak's position, but for normal type pokemon, and have the insult "bug freak" be normie, I see him win against Leon and go through a similar time like our new champion went through, but I would eventually challenge him to a battle(the specifications of which I'll say later), the crowd cheers Me on instead of their champion because they want to see the bug freak fall, I win eventually in a clutch 1 v 1 but, the match wasn't for the crown of champion, it was to say something to the crowd, essentially, it boils down to no matter what trainer you are, what type you choose, you should never put a person down because of their favorite typing, that the crowd should cheer for their champion instead of want his demise despite myself being a normal type trainer and getting similar treatment. Bug freak is comforted by this and we become true friends, we defend each other since no one else does, and we fight off the world of which is hard coded to be prejudice to us

This is funny timing because I'm literally doing a Shield bug playthrough too. Currently prepping for the fairy gym. I was lucky and found a Dewpider raid which trivializes Kabu.
Bug type is my absolute favorite. And I do this challenge for my first run of every generation. Clearing Sword with a bug team was rough, but I celebrated so loud when my Golisopod took down Leon’s Charizard.
A playthrough i highly recommend that was super fun for me is a grass playthough. You could probably play like a crazy druid type of character for it but grass types are so fun to play as
