Story 2: The wife doesn't understand why OP never brought up the SA before now? I'd say his friend's, family's, and subsequently the wife's response is EXACTLY why he never told her. OP, I doubt you'll ever read this comment, but if you do, please know there are people out there that'll be on your side and care about you. Your wife clearly doesn't love you, you can do so much better.
No, the OP should've been honest from the start. If she had that reaction, so be it, she's not for him. He could not possibly think about hiding something like this forever. He mentioned he had lost relationships due to his past catching up to him. He should've learned from those experiences told them what he went through from the beginning or at least before the relationship got serious. Obviously, their ridicule of him was horrible and really shows the double standard, but he really should've opened up about it early on or else he was going to be hurt even more.
Story 2: There is no reconciling this. Her jumping to "he's lying about being SA'd because of an argument about taking out the trash" says all you need to know. Gtfo and don't look back.
2nd story..so he leaves, and he's immature. But when he talks to her as "adults" she doesn't like it, slaps him, and storms off as an "IMMATURE " brat. Yea, please divorce her because she is literally telling you she doesn't believe you, but God forbid if it was the other way around....he needs to divorce her asap.
I was thinking this too. It’s really sad this is how men have always been treated when it comes to reporting their traumas. It shouldn’t be a shock that men can be and are victims too.
OP’s parents in 2nd story were horrible too. Who on earth beats and grounds their child when they disclose that they were SA’ed by the babysitter they hired? That’s vile.
Story 2 I heard this one before. Glad op wised up and is leaving her. She would have thrown his trauma in his face again and again. On top of hitting him.
It's a fine example of toxic masculinity from both sides people tell you not to open up and the other tells you to open up and both sides make fun of you in the end it's horrible.
Story 1 glad op kicked them out of his wife birthday celebration. They're just so accustomed to do what they want that they.were surprised when some one stood against their selfish ways. Story 2 there's no coming back after what she said there's nothing he can salvage here. As usual when makes are SA'D no one believes then and this is a clear example. Glad op divorced her.
DON'T STAY WITH SOMEONE JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN TOGETHER A LONG TIME! Being together for a long time doesn't mean that you need to sit there and waste more time with them.. You may have wasted time but f it. You can keep suffering if you want. I left after a 15 year marriage. Yeah it was 15 years i lost but i learned a lot in that time. And I'm taking those lessons with me. Just because it's been 15 years didn't mean I needed to stay and be abused more. That would have been really stupid. I started over at 35. My mother started over at 45. She didn't get remarried into she was 50. Don't use the excuse of not wanting to start over Why do people not ever take a female child PREDATOR seriously?! This is the kind of attitude that allowed an older female celebrity to grope Justin Bieber when he was a teenager receiving a reward. You already know no one said anything about it. It is a 1000% inappropriate. Women can be predators too Women can be rapists too Being raped doesnt automatically mean that they physically held you down. You have no idea how many different methods people use. I will tell my ex-husband no all the time. He would guilt trip me, get upset, get mad and yell, even after i said ok. He would be yelling at me DURING sex! I just let him take care of himself. I stopped caring. He was always so mad about it and i didn't wanna have to suffer through it. OP has been used so much. He chooses toxic people because of his experiences and trauma
Story 2- This is how many people think of abuse committed to men , it's no big deal and he probably liked it, there isn't any "me too" for men. Years ago I work for an auction company and these women in the crowd kept grabbing my rear end and when I complained everyone just laughed at me ,even my girlfriend laughed, so Op's story doesn't surprise me at all.
Story 4, when the customer threatens to sue, advise them that in that case they will have to talk to your lawyers and also they can no longer be customers there.
OP needs to grow a pair, he got molested as a teen, thought he was SAd turned into a bigger problem that it is , made it even bigger by trying to get sympathy from catholics of all people, his wife is no better, but she is right in a sense, honestly they deserve each other, one for being an insecure wimp, the other for being an AH in general, if you can't handle it, go to therapy...
Miscarriage........actually the OP handled the situation gracefully. SIL and the Brother were really way out of line. The family were also pretty rude since it was Anna's Birthday and should have pulled back on the baby talk.

@@cameron765 Empathy is generally described as the ability to take on another's perspective, to understand, feel, and possibly share and respond to their experience. There are more definitions of empathy that include but are not limited to social, cognitive, and emotional processes primarily concerned with understanding others.

For of the REALLLL
This is why men don't speak up about being a victim of SA or DV. No one ever takes it seriously.
