I'm always heartened by the love for the classic era from you guys from North America.
5. Forevermore
4. Saints and Sinners
3. Ready an Willing
2. ‘87
1. Slide it in (Sykes version) I saw the 4 piece version of this band open for Quiet Riot and CRUSH THEM!
Leaving Live in the Heart of the City, which is a stonecold classic, to the side:
1: Come an’ Get It
2: Ready an’ Willing
3: Slide it In
4: Saints & Sinners
5: Trouble
HM: Lovehunter
Really nice to see Still Bad to the Bone show up on this video. That new remix is fantastic!
I “discovered” Whitesnake as a teenager with the 1987 album. Very nostalgic for me. I love that album and the band to this day. My top 5:
1) Whitesnake
2) Slip of the Tongue
3) Good to Be Bad
4) Slide It In
5) Forevermore
* I consider Saints & Sinners and Slide It In, to almost be companion albums as I do Good to Be Bad and Forevermore.
Love Doug Aldritch, so many excellent albums with him...Lion, Bad Moon Rising, Burning Rain, Dio, Whitesnake, The Dead Daisies, etc. He has quietly built a great discography. Glad to see some of his Whitesnake work included in the discussion.
For me it is
1.1987
2.Good to Be Bad
3.Slip of the Tongue
4.Slide it in
5. Forevermore
1. Come an' Get It
2. Whitesnake (1987)
3. Saints & Sinners
4. Slide It In
5. Slip of the Tongue
1. Ready An' Willing
2.Whitesnake (1987)
3. Come An' Get It
4. Saints & Sinners
5. Lovehunter
Saw em in 81 with iron maiden and priest. Love that lineup and the live album
Great discussion. Fascinating to hear the differing views on the pre and post 1987 eras. There’s almost a geographical split! Being Scottish, I’m definitely in the former’s camp.😁
I will always have early teenage nostalgia for saints an sinners and especially slide
1 Ready an' Willing
2 Come and Get It
3 Saints and Sinners
4 Slide it In ( Original LP )
5 Live in the Heart of the City
Lost interest from 1987 onwards.
Very good point peter makes about neil Murray on bass. Hes one of those bass players that plays great bass parts separate from what the guitar player is playing. Only great players can do that properly. Geezer Butler is another one.
he wrote the music for Slow 'N Easy...and you have to be some kind of genius to write something that stupid...it's idiot savant level ...
Neil Murray was great in Whitesnake and Gary Moore’s band. When Whitesnake played with no keyboards or a second guitarist, Neil had no problem filling out the sound live.
Fácil
1) 1987
2) Good to be bad
3) Forevermore
4) Slip of the tongue
5) Restless heart
HM: Starkers in Tokyo
First I´d like to say that I like every Whitesnake album. All David Coverdale albums are at least very good to my ears. My Top 5 are:
1. Slide It In
2. Ready An´Willing
3. 1987
4. Slip Of The Tongue
5. Lovehunter
HM to two related projects: Restless Heart and the amazing Coverdale Page album.
1. Ready an' Willing
2. Slide It In
3. Come an' Get It'
4. 1987
5. Slip of the Tongue
Actually I like some of the renditions of the DP songs on the Purple Album, but it's basically a covers album.
Peter Jones once again delivering the percussion gospel. I love your drum commentary
he's incredible to watch.
Some great picks guys! I love most eras of the band; I like some of the newer stuff for sure but the 80's stuff rules for me too. Glad you gave some love to Slip of the Tongue, Tim! It's high on my list as well, we're the same age, nostalgia definitely plays a part, it was my first album by them, then I got the '87 album and so on. I still like most of the album! I still have my cassette tape. That being said, here's my list.
1. Whitesnake
2. Slip of the Tongue
3. Slide it In
4. Saints & Sinners
5. Come an' Get It
I play a drinking game while watching these contrarian videos. Whenever Jones mentions he was a drummer, i do a shot. Gotta quit the game or ill end up in AA.for sure . Lol
COME AN' GET IT!
Love it Mike one of my favorites
@@logancollins7097 I first heard it while driving through the Rocky Mountains.
@@GrabAStackofRocK Perfect place for some rock n roll
@@logancollins7097 It truly was a magical experience... set and setting are so fun to play with, when listening to music.
Come and get it....Saints and sinners....
Ready and willing....Slide it in....
Love hunter.... worst thing Coverdale did, was get rid of the sound of Whitesnake - BERNIE MARSDEN....
Been always fascinated by the very early years of the band. Trouble was the first CD I heard from them, borrowed from the public library as a kid. Such an exciting, energetic album featuring both hard rocking tunes and more accessible material. I like how the leads and instrumental passages were more prominent in the beginning, the chemistry between Moody-Marsden-Lord stands out from the get-go. Lovehunter still has that similar vibe. Love the classic trilogy from '80 to '82 as well, Paice's grooves are oustanding, his fills so tasteful yet concise. And the fearless leader was on top of the world at the time, all charisma and swagger.
Been following Coverdale since Deep Purple Burn. Bought all his solo albums and Whitesnake albums on release day. I guess taste changes by the years. My top 5 before the band was put on hiatus was:
1.Slide it in (Original)
2.Come an Get it
3.Ready an’ Willing
4.1987
5.Lovehunter
My top 5 today after the Come back
1.ForeverMore
2.Good to be bad
3.1987
4.Slide it in (US Version)
5.Restless Heart (Remix)
I’ve seen the band live so many times, I can’t remember how many, and in the later years DC’s voice is pretty shut, but as a front man he is still unparalleled. Nobody else comes close.
Wow! that shakes things up a bit!
Number one is of course Slide it In ,no contest.
For me it's ready an willing, come an get it, saints and sinners, slide it in and slip of the tongue yes I'm one of the very few Whitesnake fans who really enjoys slip of the tongue I really like Steve vai's guitar work on this album but that's my opinion
Lost them after Slide It In sorry to say. I dont care for the "new" US version of the band that come later.
1 - 1987
2 - Slide it In (US, I love Sykes)
3 - Saints and Sinners
4 - Come an Get It
5 - Ready an Willing
51:36 " *The* House of Blue Light", not "House of *the* Blue Light"
I'm sorry, I couldn't help correcting it.
1:14:38 Who was that panelist? Maybe Pete Pardo? He's a huge Whitesnake fan and those five albums are very similar to what he would have picked.
Peter Jones preaching again.
Another album where you get to hear two different takes was The Cult's Electric album. Earlier version was eventually released under the title Peace. A few track differences but mostly two approaches to the material with very different production. Highly recommend getting both versions.
Slide It In
Come An Get It
Lovehunter
Saints and Sinners
Whitesnake
well...I tell ya, if you own a Jag...and I have two, the modern ones a 2010 XF, and a 2016 XJR....you need a Whitesnake CD in there...and I tell ya, there's just something about listening to Slow 'N Easy in a Jag...they just go together...
I love to see you guys do a top 5 on dokkens albums
Recently I saw a Slide It In documentary where the transition period was discussed. Someone said "I don't think anyone calls this his favorite Whitesnake album". I thought to myself well I did when ranking their albums. Good to see I am not the only one. My top 5 was: 1. Slide It In 2. Saints & Sinners 3. Lovehunter 4. Slip of the Tongue 5. Ready An'Willing
1987 and Slip Of The Tongue are my two favorites. John Sykes and Steve Vai were both great in the band imo.
1.) 1987
2.) Slide It In
3.) Forevermore
4.) Saints & Sinners
5.) Slip Of The Tongue
Never listened to forever more but I see it ranked high here by 2 people. I need to listen I think.
@@martymartin2894The best of the later albums in my opinion
@@logancollins7097 I actually bought good to be bad when it came out and I don't think I listened to it yet either. Maybe once when I bought it but I can't remember what it's like either. And thanks for the reply.
@@martymartin2894 That's a pretty solid album too man. I'm a big fan of the early Snake but have grown to enjoy about every release they have made. Come An Get It or Saints and Sinners would probably be my no 1
Cool show, gentlemen. Before l make any kind of list, l definitely need to spend more time with both the earlier catalog and the 2000 stuff as well. The stuff I know is the middle period from Saints & Sinners through Slip of the Tongue. If you take The Purple Album out of their studio discography - since it’s all remakes - then you’re left with 12 studio records. The fact that they have more compilation albums - 15 in total - than studio albums really says something about record companies. They’re greedy little buggers who’ll repackage the hits until the cows come home! Moooooo…
I’ve heard the first four albums and the last four releases as well. I just don’t have much time with them, or too many memories of them. It’s something I’ll have to fix in the future. As some of the wise music swamis (©️M. Popoff, Inc.) stated, Whitesnake had no presence in North America until Geffen released the “Americanized” version of Slide It In in 1984. So, of course, that’s the version l know as well. I’ve heard the European original version, but now I’m curious to hear it again.
Cheers from The Big Crabapple.
Rock Out, Prog On and Pogo!
It’s my mantra and my logo.

5. Lovehunter/ Forevermore
1. Ready An' Willing
2. Slide It In (UK over American, but both good of course)
3. Come An' Get It
4. 1987
5. Lovehunter
No bad album really in the catalogue.
nice list!
Just looking at their discography and jeez Coverdale sure does know how to milk it with releasing all sorts of greatest hits compilations.
Let us know your top 5 Whitesnake albums!
1/ Come an' get it
2/ Slide it in (American version)
3/ Live...in the heart of the city
4/ Saints and sinners
5/ 1987
1) slide it in 2) ready an willing 3) whitesnake 1987
My top 5 are 1 whitesnake 1987 2 slide it in 1984 3 saints and sinners 1982 4 slip of the tongue 5 ready and willing
Hello, Peter, hello, Tim. Since I subscribe to both of your channels, I'll pose this question to the two of you.
I consider myself a minor Whitesnake fan. I own Slide It In (US and UK Version) and '87. I like Slide It In better and I like the US version better than the UK version. I've heard Slip of the Tongue, and I don't hate as much as I used to. I've also heard Saints 'n Sinners and that didn't blow my socks off. So, where should I start if I want to do a deeper dive into Whitesnake's catalog?
Whitesnake............................... Rules
The Wanton Song is probably their best track.
Pete Jones always worth listening to. Love his thoughts on my favourite Whitesnake album “ Slide It In “ , I to listen to nothing after it.
best thing Coverdale ever did after purple....
was NORTHWINDS....
I have recently been revisiting ‘NorthWinds’ & ‘WhiteSnake’. There is a lyrical vulnerability in more places, the welcome infusion of Brass and female backing vocals. Micky Moody covers all the guitars on both albums without over egging things. The original mixes are still the best.Reminiscent of MK3/4 of Deep Purple in certain places. I have listened to the recent remixes and the Bass guitar seems less pronounced.
Come an get it. Saints n sinners. Slide it in. Trouble. Lovehunter.
Who the hell thinks that the '87 album is controversial?
Die hard fans do. It's like Metallica's self-titled album that divided their fanbase.
Whitesnake died after Slide It In. They lost everything that made me like them back in the day. The best 5 are the first five. Most of the rest is painful listening.
Peter Jones is not wrong.
