that's why the Bon Scott era always wins, Powerage and Let There Be Rock. Highway and Back in Black cancel each other out. and don't bullshit me and say stuff like Thunderstruck, Money Talks, can compare to Riff Raff and It's a long way or Ride On.

It's also awesome that they play rarely played songs, Riff Raff...Go Down...I remember back around 1994-5 when the internet first landed at my UNI I was on the AC/DC chat channel, and many of us were yearning for rarely played songs like this. An admin of the channel said "I'll relay the messages to them!". Never found out if it was true or not, but during subsequent tours they played more than just Back in Black, The Jack, You Shook Me..and the same 15 songs they had been playing since Who Made Who. They played Fire Your Guns, Problem Child, ..even Danger at one show I went to! And I mean, Gone Shootin'?!

This is great, so full of energy. What always amazed me is how everyone in the band knew their role. They knew Angus was the headliner. Cliff and Malcolm stayed back and only stepped up to sing background, once finished they would step back. I saw one of the shows with Axl Rose and he also knew that his role was to sing and then step back and let Angus have the stage. You do not have solo's from every member, you do not have creative differences and no egos. Just amazing no nonsense Rock-N-Roll.

Lemme rephrase, I don’t disagree that he lost a lot of his range and power with age and constant straining over the years, I disagree with the assertion that his voice sounds bad in the shape it’s it. I think for the amount of strain he put on his voice, it’s quite amazing he still sounds as good as he does. He’s not the 30 year old from 80’s, he’s older and sounds older, but not bad. You may disagree with me and that’s fine, we’re all entitled to our own opinions, but I think he works around his limitations quite well. Especially when compared to people like Vince Meal 🤣.

What I love about Brian Johnson as AC/DC’s singer is he can make every Bon Scott era song sound like Brian had always been the singer of the song if you forget for a moment Bon originally sang it. Some replacement singers make it sound obvious they weren’t the original singer simply by sounding too much like they’re covering the song, whereas Brian sounds like he’s owning it like he’s meant to sing the songs.
A great example is Van Hagar could never do the David Lee Roth era of Van Halen justice because Sammy sounded too much like he was covering another band’s song and just singing it better than Roth without the attitude that made Roth great. Another example is Ronnie James Dio can’t do Ozzy era Black Sabbath justice because he tried to force-feed his more 80’s Power-Metal style into Ozzy songs where it doesn’t fit.
Brian on the other hands didn’t completely reinvent AC/DC’s sound, and he sang the songs less like he was covering them and more like Bon would’ve wanted; “sing my parts but do it with your own swagger”. And Brian does just that. He’s in my opinion the greatest replacement frontman in rock n roll history. He has no ego and gladly sings as many Bon-era songs as the band wants, and does so with honor and also his own personality. I’ve grown to prefer his vocals on Dirty Deeds, TNT, Whole Lotta Rosie, Jailbreak, Shot Down In Flames, and High Voltage. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a ton of songs I prefer Bon sing, but Brian has put his heart into those songs for decades and his performance shows for it. ❤ Brian Johnson

Wish they kept this rawness, simplicity and energy goin' throughout the 80's, 90's and onwards...
The bell and cannons were cool but after that it became too much. They felt like they needed the firework, video screens, trains, statues 'n dolls and an army of fake Angusses to conquer the huge arena's and stadiums. But in the late 70's they proved they didn't need all that, and here in '96, they proved they still had it.
AC/DC shows became way too theatrical in my humble opinion. Especially after '85. If there was ONE band that didn't need all that it was them. Just crank those Marshalls and blast those amazing songs. The wall of amps and a few spotlights on them. Simple yet so effective. Paris '79 style. Keepin' it real.

I always hated VH1 in the states as a kid and young adult cause I thought it was the place for Billy Ocean and Sheryl Crowe videos. I think I boycotted watching this special because of that. Fast forward 27 years and I’m kicking myself. The sound on the small stage is perfection. Sounds exactly like the early albums where you could hear the amps buzzing in the recordings. Few bands were ever as tight as these guys in live performances. This restores my faith and beliefs that they are the greatest rock and roll band that ever existed. Hearing “Go Down” and “Gone Shootin” with Brian is beyond good.

Brian is the main man. Bon was good. But Brian can do what Bon could and so much more

Mostly Bon era which is the best DC - Flat Cap has mliked a living from Bon's passing - DC should've called it a day after Back in Black because lets face it that was the last decent DC album.

Unfortunately Brian looks uncomfortable, while I'm sure Bon would've just played it like just any other gig
