- Power Up (sometimes shortened as PWR/UP and stylised as PWRϟUP) is the seventeenth studio album by Australian rock band AC/DC released in Australia and the sixteenth to be released internationally. Released on 13 November 2020, Power Up marks the return of vocalist Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams, all of whom left AC/DC before, during, or after the supporting tour for their previous album Rock or Bust (2014). This is also the band's first album since the death of co-founder and rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young in 2017 and serves as a tribute to him, according to his brother Angus.
To celebrate this we highlight AC/DC's only performance on Toppop with 'Girls Got Rhythm'.
AC/DC (stylised as ACϟDC) are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although their music has been variously described as hard rock, blues rock, and heavy metal, the band themselves call it simply "rock and roll".
inIn this legendary Toppop performance from 1979 you can see the band in the line-up with Malcolm and Angus Young, singer Bon Scott, drummer Phil Rudd, and bassist Cliff Williams, who has appeared on every AC/DC album since 1978's Powerage.
In February 1980, Bon Scott died of acute alcohol poisoning after a night of heavy drinking.

Bon Scott is a fucking legend
Yeah....................
👏👏👏
More than the normal legend
😈
The REAL DEAL 70s AC,DC
A simple music video. No fancy sht. Just music and AC/DC that's IT.
As it should be. No flash, just the music, let it speak for itself!
Drink some milk
And lip syncing.
These five guys, while they were still alive and/or still with the group, are one of the top five bands in the history of mankind. Period. Full stop.
There was more than five of them. The drummer and bass player changed a few times in the early days. Mark Evans was Bass player on the first 4 albums which IMO were the best. The lineup in this video (with Rudd on drums and Williams on bass) only did 2 albums together before Bon Scott died
" Back in Black " was the world's #1 selling album until Thriller came along. It is still #2.
They say humans are 70% water but I’m convinced Bon Scott was 100% Rock N’ Roll.
Jack Daniels
Impossible not to tap your feet to that song.
With 1% lip syncing.
95% Rock and Roll and 5% alcohol.
Johnny Walker😁
The most simplistic yet powerful band in the world right there.
They are quietly complex in that they do it as a band without all the fanfare. Angus just plays because he loves to.
They said AC/DC released 13 albums that all sound the same. Angus says they have released 23 albums that all sound the same! MORE! MORE! MORE! What else can I say?
@@CailenCambeulAngus also once said, “If you bake a cake and everyone loves it, why would you change the recipe?”

Peak AC/DC years,imo.
My favorite Bon Scott AC DC song
Their peak years were 1972 to present.
Regardless of the vocalist anyone prefers, how could their peak years not include Malcolm Young? I seen the Who made Who tour in '86... great, but beginning of the end.@@guitarslim56
Yeah, then we lost Bon. 😪😪😪😪
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that saw AC DC with Bon Scott live at Massey Hall in Toronto on June 12, 1979. A memory that I will cherish forever.
I saw them in I believe '78. Market Square Arena, Indianapolis Indiana. They opened for Ted Nugent. Scorpion was in the lineup also.
Lucky indeed
Yoi Guys are Very Fortunate.
You should have gone up there and slapped him. He’d probably knock anyone out before they got close!
AMAZING !!! I saw Randy Rhodes. That blew my mind !!!
Anyone here in 2024? This has everything you need and nothing you don't!

I love how Angus is rocking that beat so hard with so much energy. It's like he's on another planet.
He HAD to influence Flea....
A
I have to say it: Angus is on Uranus.
His Robert Plant side is released here.
,
Dig up Bon Scott's grave, and you'll see that his skull is not there
AC/DC's greatest jam in my opinion. Bon Scott was a sick vocalist. Dude's voice is just awesome.
Ikr!! He’s got that voice that epitomized Rock & Roll!

Is this Ken from Monta Vista?
Um…his knees deserve an honorable mention! 🤣🤘

Kenny, I went to high school with you. This is Laura Gould.
Bon Scott ,is a true rock singer. A great talent !!!! Deserves to be considered as one of rocks best singers ever!!! So much "grit" , personality, chrisma and excitement he brought to the band and the world! Bon, was the perfect match for the AC/DC . ⚡⚡💥💥👊👊👍👍💯💯

Phil Rudd's back beat is absolutely key to their sound.
Wasn’t the same with Wright and Slade. Both good drummers but not the same feel/swing to it like Rudd.
Love watching him play this. One of my top 5 favorite AC/DC songs.
Phil is a very underrated drummer.
Why is Sonor covered up?
@@jackjohnson2360 Exactly. This song swings, even if just slightly. I can't stand hearing this song played straight. That fill he does on the snare at the end of the guitar solo gives me chills every time.
If you ever want to know what greatness is well you're looking at it. AC/DC is and will always be the greatest rock band ever. 🤘🤘
One of the flat out best rock and roll tunes of all time.
It never gets old listening to AC DC
This and Shot Down In Flames and A Whole Lotta Rosie!!!
I agree , The other one is It's a long way to the top.
@@motorcitymanman7711no doubt about it 🤟🏿
So true
Was lucky enough to see AC/DC with Bon at least a half a dozen times. For me AC/DC was never the same after Bon's passing
Oh my god. "Lucky" sounds like an understatement in this case. It must have been like seeing god himself live or something. Can you tell me about the energy that came from him singing with the band and also especially how the girls in the audience reacted to him?
Lucky legend
Seen them Springfield Illinois, summer of 1979, shortly after Bon Scott was gone.
@@redlicoricerifleexpert7489 Don't you mean 1980 then? Bon was still alive and with the band in 1979.
@@redlicoricerifleexpert7489 Oh, I think I misread that comment. Shortly after, he was gone. That was what you meant, right? :-)
This is AC/DC at their best!!
Except the fact that it’s playback. But I agree, the era is fantastic. Let there be rock Live in Paris is just pure bliss of rock n roll.
@@caprise-music6722 I heard it from the first second: not live. It is also the way Bon sings, it has not that normal power, when he acts, while singing live.

Southern blues'y rock, actually.
RocknRoll ain't never gonna go , discos dead and rap is next!
Is that even rock n roll? Its more hard rock or even a little bit punk
@@lion-667 I wouldn't miss rap, but disco was great.

Bon had the absolute "it factor" voice, looks, stage command, he was a legend RIP
@MiamiBeach xxx I agree
@MiamiBeach xxx your saying Gillian and plant could not sing????
@MiamiBeach xxx I figured so. The way it read was you could interpit either way.
@MiamiBeach xxx I always liked Bon's voice.
One of the most unique bits of rhythm guitar that Malcolm ever did, his strum power chord work on this one is sublime excellence.
Bon Scott really had presence on stage. With him it's like a different band.
brian johnson is still super badass
Crazy how Bon just suddenly died
Completely agree! They even started to sound different after Back in Black. That album has Bon written all over it. As we all know, they were recording when he passed.
Like a different band? That was the band.
Exactly I hate when Angus tries to steal the spotlight from Bon but Bon just blows him away with his amazing voice sry Angus
I can never just watch one ac/dc video without following up with another one.
Yep,, one turned to ten.. oh make that eleven I just play another..!!
I´m addicted too, positively way! Seen AC/DC 16 times live, but here I´m again watching then time after time, hundreds hours. Best band forever!
It's called a rabbit hole.
Oy YEAH. 😁 😁
And another
Diamonds are forever, and so is AC/DC.
I prefer AC/DC
This song rocks so hard it actually swings. Masterpiece
Love this comment!!❤️
The live version in Paris from 1980 swings even harder

Bon Scott was the BEST singer for AC/DC!! RIP Bon Scott. You will never be forgotten!!!
Yep! Bon , had that"extra something"
there's something about Bon's voice ...I don't know what it is. it just DOES something to you 😍
Agreed
He also has impeccable taste in jeans!
ya, makes me wish he never died, then I would never have had to be exposed to brian Johnson.......
HyredGun I will always love Bon more than any one else but I cant bash Brian. When he first joined I wouldnt listen to him(i was in mourning...i fucking loved Bon) but he did ACDC proud. Bon knew and like Brian...thats enough for me. Axl Rose....Im still out on that one.
He got a perfect mix of rock'n'roll and blues singing style
Bon Scott.. forever young!
unbeatable band, there is nothing better than AC/DC
Bon is the greatest success story in rock and roll history because he went from being ac/dc's chauffeur to becoming not only their new frontman but also the greatest frontman in rock history. 🤘🤘
Bonn, what a singer
Bon.
RIP Bon 🤘
There are NO bands out there that can compete with acdc, simply amazing
"I been arouuund the wooorld" is it just me or that intro just give you the goosebumps ? Long live Rock and Roll 🤘
The whole second verse gives me goosebumps from ‘she’s like a lethal brand to bad for any man’ to ‘you know I’m losing sleep but I’m in too deep like a body needs love no doubt about can’t live without’
That riff is just amazing and Bon Scotts voice just ignites more 🔥
Scott's voice blows away BJ's, and Scott's voice was made for Young's guitar.
Man you can’t take nothing from Brian Bon was awesome but Brian filled his shoes and the rest is history
The boys have rhythm!!! Good to see Bon Scott doing vocals!!!
It's 2021, still listening & we can all agree: Bon Scott definitely had rhythm, baby❤✌🏼

How can one riff never get boring? The whole thing is genius. And then at 2:11 the Angus solo comes in and it gets even better. Unbelievable.

Best f-in rock band of all times. When prog rock, glam, and bloated self indulgent rock stars were the norm, AC/DC kept it simple. Catchy hooks, Bon's voice, and driving guitars. Best f-in rock band of all times.
Exactly that's why punk never hurt them. They were straight rock n roll already pulling in the crowds.
when the 70's are good, they are great, this is the opposite of pop-rock trash, this is the real deal.
Absolutely my favourite AC/DC song.
That is my dog, not my girl. Always there for me and always happy to see me when I come in. NO drama & always has my back without a doubt.

I agree with you 💯 percent correct!
Legendary Bon Scott! 🔥⭐
100% Rock and Roll purity. ACDC is the very definition of Rock. Let nobody be misunderstood. People may call them a metal band but the actual essence, foundation, and spirit of ACDC is pure Rock. Long live Rock and long live ACDC.
Everything about this performance is literally perfect. One of those rare rock moments when the stars aligned.
I guess, this isn't live though.
Except for the lip-syncing.
amazing wireless guitars for the 70's, can't even see a receiver plugged into them they are so small.
There's not a setting on volume high enough for this.
It’s PLAYBACK! Why cannot people understand that. One needs to be completely talentless to not hear and see that it’s playback. The guitars aren’t even plugged in!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Brian Johnson, but Bon Scott had that “it” quality, that only a select few lead vocalists in rock history had. Besides that amazing voice of his, he had also had charisma and stage presence in spades. Whatever “it” was, Bon had “it”.
I agree. Brian is a great guy and all and glad he was there when Bonn passed. But i always wonder how big would ACDC would have gotten had Bonn stayed in that night? Loved Bonn's voice and his lyrics.
Best frontman in rock that Bon
Perfect ! Thank you.
Bon Scott is the Man he had it!
Bon WAS AC/DC, but Brian could continue it. Respect.

Hey cliff Williams is underrated let him be the star for a bit

I had the same thought. Cliff is great, it's just funny they chose that moment to zoom in on the bass as soon as Angus' solo starts.
Just for a change,,..ha ha ..
They do the exact same in it’s a long way to the top video on top pop.........splits into three screens when it’s angus solo, they show u Bon on bagpipes, malcolm and phill......would’ve been good to see him going at it 🤘🏻🎸

I agree. I saw them in 1975, in Sydney. They literally lifted the roof off the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. Never seen a video of them that captured it.
This will never get old. Love everything about this (apart from showing the bass during the first half of the guitar solo)
