I remember seeing this piece when it aired. Howard was right--he was fired within the year. What a lot of people don't get it that what he does is satire. If you can see that, then you can enjoy him. I remember seeing this piece when it aired. Howard was right--he was fired within the year. What a lot of people don't get it that what he does is satire. If you can see that, then you can enjoy him. If you can't, then you won't like him. BTW, they said in this piece he had a six-figure salary at NBC. I find that hard to believe.
He turned to radio after he got passed over for the role of Dr Egon Spengler in the first Ghostbusters.

it's interesting to see how ahead of the game Howard is/was. He was playing to the camera even at that point in his career, almost to suggest "Hey, make this a tv show!" which did finally get done many many years later.

7:56 I remember that commercial. It was actually where I first heard of Howard Stern. Didn't catch on to him until the Channel 9 show WOR TV. Watched him on E!, then stopped when he moved to Sirius Radio though I do watch clips on RUclips. Don't watch the recent stuff he's doing at all.
