About the Mega Man 2 novelization mentioned around 55:10, YES! I read that as a kid! It actually accidentally traumatized me (because was dumb kid): when he's in Crash Man's stage, there's a line about how "a ladder caught Mega Man's eye," and I didn't know at the time that he just saw it, I thought it meant HIS EYEBALL GOT CAUGHT IN THE RUNGS SOMEHOW. My vivid child-imagination ran with it and horrified me for awhile. (Obviously that's not what the phrase meant so the book continued on with Mega Man cheerfully just mega-ing along, apparently oblivious to his gruesomely ripped-out eye, to my infinite dumb-kid confusion.)
I’m sure that this has already been said but, The Wily Wars were available in America, for a short time at least. The short lived Sega Genesis online subscription service had the game as an exclusive title only available while you were subscribed. My uncle had the service, and I got to play it a bit when we visited him. Once the service was discontinued, there went the American version. Edit: I absolutely agree that the story of the X series fell apart after X5, if they left Zero dead (or just “gone” until the Zero series) then that could have worked. In spite of Zero being my favorite character, that ending worked to bridge the two series. Also, it is very interesting how each series in the timeline got more story focused, peaking (at this point) with the ZX series.
Gotta say, when they converted the games over to the Genesis, they made quite a few changes. Perhaps most noticeable is that metal blade is far less powerful in a lot of situations(like how it was only doing two notches of damage to Wood Man). Still useful, but not nearly the god tier weapon it was in the OG game.
I'm actually watching this VOD specifically because I tried this game like 2 weeks ago and thought the controls felt sticky, the shots are slower and woodman's leaf shield was harder to jump over. Glad to see it's not just me.

Man, this game is broken... at 2:42:04, if you go through frame by frame, you can see a bullet pass through quick man's head and shoulders and took no damage. It looks like his hit box is like 20 pixels wide.
Real question. Does anyone feel that farming lives and/or health in a stage before getting to the boss is cheating? As a kid, I always thought that was part of the strategy but later I've heard people saying that's cheating.

Also, I'd be down for seeing Wily Tower. For that matter, I'd watch the playthrough of the other two games along the way. :)

Crystalis is one of my favorite NES games. It has awesome music and a really great randomizer scene too!

It isn't cheating, but it isn't the intended strategy either. (It's also quite tedious, which is why I usually don't bother.)
