The McKinley has been working great in my pick up, but I’ve been leaning towards this radio for my garage. Maybe you having one and making a video is just a sign I need.
Stick with the McKinley .. trust me its a better radio.. theres not much in it between the two but the McKinley once in export mode is a much better radio.
@Shannon Hoehner it's a very easy mod that anyone can do.. watch my very first video on my channel from around ten months ago . I give full on explanation and what to do, the mod is for the EU model.
@Shannon Hoehner you can try the mod.. if the US version has FM on it the mod should work the same. Beauty of this mod it's so easy to do you can reverse mod it back in seconds.. nothing lost.. it won't hurt you rig. Personally I'd give it a go.

i have the same radio bought mine from Walcott radio with a alignment and the 11 meter mod and i have to say the adjacent channel rejection is not as bad on it as yours usually if i can hear the channel 6 guys loudly i might hear them faintly on channel 5 or 7 but that's about it. if im on lsb i don't really notice it
I dumped mine after a year. It was a good radio with a very good receive , mine did not have that crazy of a rejection problem from 6 to 38 but did 6 to 7 or 6 to 5. But ultimately got tired of menu system. Give me old school switches and knobs.
I got the latest version of that radio they made several changes and yes if I get close to ch6 on my end where I live I can hear them bleed over by 1 channel but the ANL/NB does help with the heavy bleed over more but not much, and I do love the ability to slightly tune it by the frequency if you got someone off frequency.
I have it as well and mine has that same exact issue, and the MEM button on mine is like pushing it multiple time's, I sent it back to President and if it come's back with still the same issue im selling it and getting a quad 6
Hi, umm maybe that radio was second hand and there are SCREWDRIVER EXPERTS been in before hand , I bought the identical radio and mine has performed perfectly and continues to this day , I make plenty of contacts barefoot at 50 watts and yes a technician tuned it and that’s it , please don’t be too harsh when you are testing a second hand radio, 73 and hope to catch u 151 , 541 waving a hand from Australia !!
You want to be careful you dont blow the finals in the amp, it will have a max amount of power it will take. Power is not everything it all bowls down to your antenna John and you make good antennas.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I had a Palomar 225 that I used with a turned down power 148 GTL with no problem. I hooked up a cheap Cobra 40ch AM, but forgot to turn it down (4 to 2 watts), and blew out the Palomar. 😒
I have the same amp in My car, and it does not like anything more than 12 watts on SSB. the amp I have in My radio room does not like low power, 4 watts in will only push it to about 50 watts.

You bought this 2nd hand, the radio out of the box is 10 and 12 meters, it's not an 11 meter CB.... seems you are talking with cb channels. Has it been modified?
Where did you get the 7-volt battery? I need one That radio covers 10-12 meters or 24 megs to 30megs. Seems to hear well, and your replay seemed to be a clean clear transmit.. The output might be turned down somehow. Don't overdrive your amp. Like always I enjoyed your video !!
@@MowerJunkie Thanks, I have a TRS 448 that I found in my shed (must have been a nephew:s) with a power mike and old battery. Just have not seen one anywhere. That is that GRAY line I mentioned to you when at one side or the other the sun is coming up or going down.
A couple of things worth the mention: The frequency can be calibrated without taking off the top and tweaking anything. You just need an accurate frequency counter and you access the calibration menu through the front of the radio. The second thing is I just sold one of these to a friend of mine and it had good channel rejection so I'm not sure what's going on with that particular radio but you could always have it set up by a qualified shop without breaking the bank and if you do that, mention the channel rejection issue so they can double check that for you. That would make you a great little mobile radio if nothing else. Have you seen any of the Anytone 5555N radios? Those are great radios that talk really well on all modes and they have a decent channel rejection too and the display is large for those of us with tired older eyes. First time I see the channel 38th for a calling frequency. Is it on US? In EU we have 27.555 USB is main calling frequency across the world. There you can get into DX stations like Japan or Uruguay or so.. But you have to announce yourself like a 2..something-something..151. something-something means 2 or 3 letters of DX group like an Alfa Tango, Oscar Delta or Fox Delta Exray etc.etc. Try to see the 27.555 one day and listen it if it available to use it in US. I can't see the freq numbers on alot of the new small mobiles. The Emperor ts5010 I had, had the same chnl rejection issue...Howdy John hope life is good 4U.
I heard triple 9 about week ago on 38 on shortwave now my shortwave radio i just bought it plug for my shortwave 4days ago it stills works good so far no problems my shortwave not shutting out.
I used to use a Ranger 2950 for this same purpose. I was looking to get another radio now just for fun. I did not know that modifying a 10 meter radio to get on 11 meters was not "legal" to do. Is it now legal or does it still fall into one of those things that is on the books but no one cares to enforce so everyone does it with no issues?
I agree with you...it's not 1972, and for $269.95 and a radio that's marketed as an amateur radio that it wouldn't be a splash box like a TRC-23 Navaho. If I was still in field service I'd probably have a rig like that. I did use an Alinco DX70 for a few years until a friend just had to have it! I'm waiting for the Russians to hack the CB-58 HT so that it will work on 10FM.
Nice radio, I have one too. Most advanced radio for cb radio I've used. Get the data cable and free program download and do all you updates and mods from there much better. Awhile back, I ordered what was listed as, a Lincoln II for around $225. What I got was the II+. But I wanted the II because converting it was a simple matter of cutting a white wire whereas converting the II+ requires soldering a diode in place. I didn't have any soldering equipment and with my vision, probably wouldn't be able to see the spot it had to be soldered into. So I sent it back. I didn't like all that menu/submenu stuff anyway. BTW, forget about that house in Sumter. I emailed and called the listing agent. Never heard back. Got in touch with a broker, and the very next day, the house is pending sale. It was on the market for 153 days. Nobody was interested in it until I showed serious interest in it. I bet the listing agent took another look at it and figured it's a good deal so buy it, paint it and resell it for $10,000 more. Want to heat your garage? A fun little project would be to build a solar air heater.
I think when the time is right.....You'll find Your dream house. I thought about a solar heater, But for it to work, it would have to be on the front of My garage, and I just don't want to see that. So I use kerosene to heat My garage. Take care Joe, 73's
Looks just like mine in the truck. I haven't had much issue with channel rejection in the mobile but it picks up lots of power line noise sometimes engine noise and for lack of a better term man made QRM type noise.
That might be why your Buddy wanted to sell it. I have seen numerous reviews of that radio and own one of the predissecores without the +. If you send it over to Dave White I am sure he can make you happy. Thank you for the video and all the effort you put into making it. Always a pleasure to here a good hearted Radio Brother.
I don't think anyone could make this radio enjoyable for me. the incoming audio just doesn't work with my old ears. I have talked to a lot of people that have a II+, that have the same problem with them. I have found that if I adjust the the clarifier for each person, it is better, But who wants to fiddle with it for every contact. I still have the radio, but the first person to offer what I paid for it, will be it's new owner. Take care John, 73's from 151 SC.
Again on this video, the standard mic is great on the air on DX an local, I don't know why you put it down. Everybody gives compliments to this radio on the air, no matter what is the mode. Way better than most 'American' CB's like the piece of crap Stryker that I had.
You are spot on with the adjacent channel rejection. Being about 5 miles from NYC, it is virtually unusable. It is a splashbox in a nice package. I sold mine within a month after buying it. If you live in a city
Congrats on the new toy, I love the president Lincoln 2+ v3 they are great sounding radios I had one a few months ago but traded it for a rci 2950 cd. I have to say that that radio is a good talking radio on am but even better on ssb I used to use it for my work truck semi and would be able to talk to local’s as well as talk skip with no problem.

I unlocked my clarifier on mine as it was easier when you drive. I have no issues on splash as you have have a bad one there. The stock mic you have to mod it & put some foam or padding in it & place the mic part in the center. There are video's on the mic part but once radio modified goes from 24 MHz to 29.700 MHz.

Not a fan of the new "President" products. I'll take the old ones, any day. I can't do any repairs on a new one but my old Madison and Dwight D allow me some freedom to fix.
I bought a President Grant 2 a few years back just to see what all the fuss was about. Hated the bloody thing, very cheap feel to it, terrible channel changer encoder. Very harsh receiver with as you say crap channel rejection. My original Grant was 5 times the radio with a lovely quiet noise floor compared to the grant 2. And yes Mr Mower, the mic is horrible, it's like something a woman would use to shave her legs... I toyed with the thoughts of buying a Lincoln 2 but after the grant I said if this is what President is making forget it.. Check out my video on the grant 2. Old school rules Mr Mower🤣🤣🤣.. Ps.. 14 devision is France...
I love President products! That one has nice sound.

All from data cable access. Pay attention to instructions on computer. Carful with service section. The reset code is 12345 in case you restset radio. Be safe bro hope this helps some. #12 Watkins Glen NY. 73's
May ask sir, how does that rig compare to the HR2510? Thank you.
14 Division is France
Good DX
This tadio still going strong for you? I have the striker 955hp and i was thinking about swapping it out in the mobile for the Lincoln. Your thoughts?
the Lincoln II+ is an OK radio, But the styker and anytone radios are a lot better.
@Mower Junkie what makes them better than the lincoln?
@@R3DB3ARD92 easier to use menu and better quality audio, for receive and transmit.
I run the anytone 6666 talked all over the world on it with no kicker
Again on this video, the standard mic is great on the air on DX an local, I don't know why you put it down. Everybody gives compliments to this radio on the air, no matter what is the mode. Way better than most 'American' CB's like the piece of crap Stryker that I had.
It's the size of the mic that I don't like, it's so small.
I have a president Grant 2 premium pushing 20watt AM 20watt. Question can i run a RM KL 203p on it safe ?
probably not. Check RM Italy's website, I believe they have the info you're looking for. Thanks for watching, 73's from 151 SC.
What is that number 151 you are using when you make a contact? I've been involved with CB radio since 1966 and I have no idea what that is.
It's a sideband thing, the numbers are easier to understand when the airways are busy.
Good transiver mr mower may mame Wilson 73
Good video SilverTone in NC
Thanks, Take care SilverTone, 73's from 151 SC.
It goes nuts on my side also on AM cB radio 📻 and HomiE BreW anT 🐜 TeN nA
I love President radio
You are spot on with the adjacent channel rejection. Being about 5 miles from NYC, it is virtually unusable. It is a splashbox in a nice package. I sold mine within a month after buying it. If you live in a city
Congrats on the new toy, I love the president Lincoln 2+ v3 they are great sounding radios I had one a few months ago but traded it for a rci 2950 cd. I have to say that that radio is a good talking radio on am but even better on ssb I used to use it for my work truck semi and would be able to talk to local’s as well as talk skip with no problem.
151 I bet I’ve talked to u before out there in skip land, u don’t need to offset the frequency that’s what ur clarifier is for to set that if it’s at about 1 o’clock . Talk to u out there in skip land 73’s
Which antenna do you use in the video? a Two element horizonal?
Yes, I was using My homemade 2 element horizontal Yagi.
@@MowerJunkie Roger that!
I agree with you on the mic . They could have done way better ! I been using mine about 6 weeks now , I’m very pleased with it . Great video 👍
could always throw a D104 SE/M6B or the like on it. I did that on mine and like it alot.
@@kirklawrence4326
Yeah me too , I’ve never been a fan of the handheld D-104 mic , but after trying several , the D-104 sounds like a million bucks on mine 👍
Holy Crap, I forgot I had that very radio in my closet. Has about 3 hours use on it.
Can you send a diagram how to wire to six pin? I got six pin McKinley and want to wire cobra power mic.with 9 volt battery.lol
I found the mic wiring diagram on Google. Take care, Thanks for watching.
Lincoln 1 the best

Good morning mj
Good morning, Thanks for watching.
@@MowerJunkie yes sir 73s from the top of Mississippi
This radio is a fine AM radio but has terrible receive on ssb .
Nice radio
👍👍👍
Hi John. With regards to the Lincoln II frequency issue. There is an "Engineers Mode" that you can access to remedy that.. Here is a link ruclips.net/video/ECAE2HYAIs0/видео.html Not sure if the Lincoln II+ has the same? Don't know if it's any good for you?
I don't mean anything nasty about the radio it's dangerous radio Audi HR2510 so Dan solo Eminem on the radio for a long time showman 2 salmon tweaked it that's OK everybody doeverybody does not saying you but somebody did Yeah II wouldn't mind having it but like I say I am in on the radio for many years I just forgot my old radios ano radios and love the selection you have out there
Not a fan of the new "President" products. I'll take the old ones, any day. I can't do any repairs on a new one but my old Madison and Dwight D allow me some freedom to fix.
Agree with the rejection/bleed over issue. I had one of these and it was the same way.
Mower junkie get a older kenwood or Yaesu amateur radio. Difference is night and day and you can spend less than 400 dollars.
