Gosh, this channel always makes me so excited to read more. I just bought three knew books yesterday, and now having watched this video, I can't wait to dive into them. Thank you for sharing!
YESSSS!
I can't skip cari's reading vlogs ❤
wahhhh thank you!
That library is heaven! I am on the waitlist at my library for Klara and the Sun because you mentioned it in another video. I also just finished your other recommendation Please Look After Mom and I really enjoyed it!
I miss libraries sm. It’s been over a year I haven’t been in one because of the pandemic :(
i really hope theyre open again soon!!
loved never let me go so i'm definitely checking out this one! loved the cozy feel of this vlog 🥺
Never let me go definitely beat this book by miles but it was still a great read 🥺🙏🙏🙏
That library was gorgeous but it's so hard for me to believe it's actually a library! It looks like a bookstore! I've noticed that many of the thrift stores you have went to on your travel channel in Korea also look much nicer in presentation than what I'm used to here. It's a great modern look for the place.
I'm always so motivated to start new books because of your book tube channel! I'm reading my very first Murakami Book "Sputnik Sweetheart" now and definitly see why you are a fan of his writing! 😁📖
ohhhhh yes i hope you enjoy!!
I just finished Remains of the Day! I was blown away by it, can't wait to read more Ishiguro.
amazingly i still havent read remains of the day!! but its definitely on my list^^
7:21 OMG, that's one of my favorite song ever 😭😭😍😍😍
I just love how you inspire me to read! I was in a reading slump for some years and you've awoken that passion again! So, so greatful!
im so glad i discovered your channel! your reading vlogs makes me so happy and i love the books you talk about 😇
What a way to start a new day . So many happy vibes. I love it ❣
I love this channel so much. It feels like I'm part of a book club and I have never been part of a book club. I feel so giddy and wholesome after each video.
I love you so much!! You are so inspiring ❤️
Just wanted to say cari blessed my notifications ❤❤ i've started watching your videos last year and I fell in love with seoul all over again . Thank you for taking the time to edit such high quality content . Have a wonderful day
thank you so so much! have a wonderful day too!
Thanks to you I have gotten back into reading. It was my favorite hobby as a teenager and because of university and jobs I completely stopped. Now I'm back and it makes me so happy! Thank you Cari!!
i'm instantly put in a better mood by these vibes. thank you cari ! take care of yourself :)
Can't wait to get my hands on Klara and the Sun! Never Let Me Go has remained one of my fave books ever, and we seem have similar book tastes, so I like hearing your thoughts :)
This library is gorgeous !
Always so happy when I watch your videos! Love all the cozy vibes🌸
thank you so much!
Went to Starfield Library before pandemic. Is really really nice!
i liiiiive for natural light + bookshelves hahahaha
I must say that your bg songs are all the songs that my mom loves to play on the piano and all of the songs that I grew up listening to... So, I guess, I'm having the best of both worlds in your reading channel, Cariiii! And I just love the vlog, as always!
Been waiting for your video 😍😍😍
That is some Library, hope you never drop that tablet in the tub he he.
Liked the blossom, it does make one think that at last spring is around the corner.
Take care both. 😄XX
your reading vlogs always make me want to read more

Can't wait to read klara and the sun and hear your final thoughts about it 🥰

Wow that library is gorgeous! Seoul is on my family's bucket list and I'm so glad I found both your channels. Thank you for taking us around South Korea.
I am so in love with this channel and you! Literally makes my days so much better. It's my happy place, for sure! 🙃💙
omg thank you :')
@@caricanread OMGGG you answered me. I still don't believe.... a lot of love from Brazil for you!!! ❤️
I finished the book yesterday. Love it. I do like Ishiguro's art style, his focus on recounting/ reliving of memory. This one's a little different, but still within the same style. I don't think Ishiguro has much intention on writing about AI and technology, but rather, through a raw, non-human perspective, reflect on what's the point of being human and being loved. The book is short, and the space is tight, but I think he's done a good job :)
That piano piece....Mozart Sonata C-Major....I'm having horror flashbacks to my piano lessons xD
Omg I thought the same thing!
I love your vlogs
Great video and review, Cari. I read the two books by Kazuo Ishiguro. I too can’t help to compare Klara and the Sun to Never Let Me Go. I love Never Let Me Go too much.
Binge watching your videos 😍😍😍 my new fave 😚😚😚
Omg yay a vlog~🥰✨
first of the year!!
wow~~!! I'm a Korean subscriber! Nice to see Korea on your channel😍
i want to visit that library so much
i hope you can someday!!
i’m currently reading good neighbors by sarah langan! it’s also a pretty new release and ngl things are going down. and ack i can’t wait to get my hands on klara and the sun! it sounds so interesting and i actually haven’t read any ishiguro works before, so i might make it my first :D
Never Let Me Go gave me so much feels and thoughts. My heart reading that book. I am looking forward to reading Klara and the Sun! I'm taking an AI class and I feel like this is going to be an interesting read. Thanks for taking us to the library! :)
ohhh yes!! it poses some interesting questions!
It's so interesting to hear you say that you prefered Never Let Me Go partly because it was narrated from the point of looking back in time. That was the exact reason I always felt a bit of a disconnect with that book! I often wished that it had been told from the perspective of the present moment, because it would have immersed me more. The writing style of Never Let Me felt a bit detached to me. So, maybe I will end up preferring Klara and the Sun! :)
Two authors I've enjoyed reading are Ann Patchett ("Bel Canto" in particular) and Mary Doria Russell's well-written prose (the more-than-just-"sci-fi" Sparrow duology and historical novels such as "Dreamers of the Day").
I have it in my queue! A couple others up first
I love Ishiguro so much, I'm so excited to read Klara. I actually have the opposite problem these days, I find it very difficult to read longer books, after reading a string of shorter classics and modern classics (like Franny and Zooey, and Wide Sargasso Sea). I've always been more of a fan of like, well crafted, economical prose and stories, so sometimes when I land on a big tome or like, a really sprawling fantasy story, I'm like UGH why. Probs because my job is editing, I'm in awe of writers who can do something impressive in 200 pages, or punch you in the heart with a 5 word sentence. ().
You still make great videos. Thanks...
This is my favorite video of yours on this channel so far!
I haven’t read this book yet but it is not on my list👌
omg thank you so much!
You have a professional looking channel. Great content. Wonderful creative techniques.
Every time I see that library, I think about who has to dust all those shelves and books. 🤷 I love it and your videos (both channels)!
So I just found this channel and I love it. The peaceful vlogs and the book recs are everything I needed in my life! Thank you for sharing!
thanks for watching :')
I finished Never Let Me Go last month! No cherry blossoms for me and my lq version of your reading-vlog life but I can always live vicariously through this video to make up for it 🙌
have you watched the movie yet! i feel like it hits haaaard after you've read the book!
@@caricanread not yet, but I definitely will if I ever feel like crying my eyes out again haha
can you do short stories (300 or less pages) book recommendations? :D
the library and blossoms are so beautiful ❤️ I wish I could go there! The library around here is..well..not the best 😅( don't have most of the books I want) and you aren't allowed to enter there due to the pandemic now.😭
The book sounds interesting 😀 ❤️
I hope all the libraries are open soon 😭🙏
I will dive into the new Ishiguro next week. Reading ‚The phone booth at the end of the world‘ right now! It‘s so beautiful....sad and beautiful! I love sad books though.
:''''')
Hi! I was wondering what kind of iPad you have? I m thinking of getting one and I really liked the one you have lol
This library reminds me of one in Bangkok (actually a bookstore). I don’t like it when they play music in store, was it the case in the reading spots ? but I can read everywhere and you are the same. As for this book I DNF’ed Never let me go. I didn’t fall in love with his writing style and found the pace too slow for my taste of course (I did enjoy the movie though) so I am trusting you on this one 😊 I love 500-600 pages books so I totally get it with shorter books 😂
I was just about to buy that book and now this video is out... Idk if it's gonna be a good purchase but I trust your reviews and I need it with this one book
i would borrow it from the library if possible rather than purchase it - it wasn't something i think i'll read again!
2:43 spotted catching fire in the shelf :)
Your aesthetic playlists are killing me 😭😩🥲❤️❤️❤️
😭🙏
The ad I got for this video was a bunch of women talking "I just got mine/ me too we're synced/ it's so heavy"
Book of the Month Club
😂😂😂
....How do you access those books on that feature wall.. column structure thing..... next to the escalator....
as well as other people have commented, your videos always inspire me to read more!
i'm currently reading wind up bird chronicle, but i wish i could go to a café like you and just chill and read (damn you, covid!).
btw, i've never read kazoo ishiguro's work before, what book do you recommend the most?
Never Let Me Go is one of my fav books of all time - hiiiiighly recommend!!!
EUGENE PLAYING AT THE START OMG
I've never read any Kazuo Ishiguro even though I own 2 of his books. I'm quite interested in Klara in the Sun but I'm not sure if it should be the first book I read from him! Also, are you still planning on starting the book club?
i would definitely recommend never let me go!!
Have you read Kazuo Ishiguro's "The Remains of the Day"??? I don't know if it will be your cup of tea but it's a favorite. You will fall in love with the main character, for sure.
Omg is that the library they used in Record of Youth?? I remember thinking how gorgeous it looked... ngl was hoping park bogum would jump into shot :,)
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is! :)
YAY IM EARLY AGAIN!!! 😁😁✌🏻✌🏻📚📚📖📖
Nice video ^^
Also how did you already get the book from the library?? Is it on the Libby app? In the UK the book was only released last week to buy and won’t be in any libraries for months!
i got it from the library but i also got in line early hehe on Overdrive, you can request books before the library even has it and then when they buy it you can but in the holds line!
This is the library from Record of Youth right?
I know this is definitely a silly question, but in huge libraries like Starfield, are all those books like actually available to be checked out? Like an employee comes out with an extremely giant rolling ladder and grabs books from the very top? hahah just something I've secretly always wanted to ask.
Hahaha I have the same question
I honestly have no idea how to get to the upper shelves but you can buy the books!! So its more like a bookstore than a library ☺️
@@camposmurilloalejandra3838 Glad I wasn't the only one wondering this! haha
You do Hallease's SKILLSHARE class? I love it when my fav RUclips channels collide!!
I am currently reading, Stories Of Your Life And Others by Ted Chiang. So far the short stories are interesting if strange.
yessss! they're such a good teacher and SO FUNNY ahhh!
😍
if you have not read The Young Elites by Marie Lu you have to, I think you would love it
literally just finished Klara and the Sun! while i liked it, unfortunately it wasn't amazing. the writing was easy to dive into, but sadly that was because there wasn't any profound prose to keep me stunned. every sentence was kind of lackluster. it felt like he was literally just telling a story on a superficial level. usually i retain some paragraphs/sentences that stuck with me, but except for the quote in the blurb "do you believe in the human heart? etc.", i had none for KATS. the build up and reasoning for the Sun and Klara's actions were weak too imo, so it left the ending feeling very "meh". it's not a bad book at all though! its simple and not too heavy for an enjoyable light-hearted read! :)
the only other Kazuo i've read is Remains of the Day though, but i have Never Let Me Go on my shelf, so saving the best for last? :D
In my country (Argentina) is so difficult find a good library😔
Same over here😭!
I've always been curious which library you issue books from. Is it kindle unlimited? I've been on the search for an ebook library but haven't found any yet >:(
Check out my video on 'how to read more!' I talk about how I use Libby and Overdrive :)
Yes I'll definitely do that! Thank you ^-^
how do your eyes not hurt from reading from an ipad 😭😭😭😭 my eyesight is so bad now after years of reading from gadgets
woo im early
🥰🥰🥰
Haha this is so weird! I saw that this book came out and thought of you 😂 it’s already on my tbr ☺️ also, I’m still not over the memory police and haven’t started reading my next book (a physiological thriller) which expires in like a week 😅 I feel so guilty 😂😂 #readerstruggles
omg i know the pain of having to juggle books based on due dates hahahhaa
To be honest I don’t see the big thing with Kazuo Ishiguro’s books. I read never let me go the whole time as if I was reading a pastiche of things I had seen somewhere before (couldn’t really pinpoint but yeah). Perhaps it’s because I watched the film first and then I knew what would happen (but I had the same
Impression watching it). Perhaps since I’m used to reading authors who really explored the flow of consciousness I can think of many who do a better job of distilling the human psyche. Nevertheless, I might give this a try, perhaps to prove me wrong. Also to pretend I’m in that gorgeous library 📚❤️🥰
Sounds like you read some really interesting books than! Could you give me a recommendation please?
I think Virginia Woolf (short stories), Clarice Lispector, Lygia Fagundes Telles, Carola Saavedra. Well, they do not have the slight sci-fi background but I'd highly recommend them
That tree is a he.
I got my tea I got my vlog and I got my knitting what can i ask for more☺️☺️
