Not a fan of LP, but Chester is commit suicide on my birthday (July 20). Really shocking is seeing post about him, after coming home from birthday party with my friends...
With Linkin Park they were giving people who struggle with depression and addiction a voice. They were saying see other people are struggling as well so you are not alone. The songs also made it easier for teens and adults to voice what they are dealing with mentally. Some people even played the songs to their family or therapist since they couldn't get the words out themselves. Chester used the songs as a form of therapy for himself. He also hoped that by telling his story that it helps others to share their stories as well. Chester actually said that their songs helped him stay alive for as long as he did because he was able to release a lot of his struggles though his singing. Chester and Mike both wrote songs for Linkin Park a lot of the time together but also separately. The lyrics to the song Given Up was written by Chester just after getting out of rehab for drug addiction. It tells of his struggles with his divorce from his first wife Samantha and what he felt afterwards. Chester wasn't the only member of the band who delt with addiction. The drummer Rob Bourdon (Bourdie) also had a drug problem before he met Mike back in 1996. Rob is also the youngest member of the band. He was 17 years old when he met Mike.
One of their best songs far and away, I love Numb so much. You asked what LP's breakout song was, and I'd really have to say it was In The End, circa 2001/2002 that was the song that rocketed them to the mainstream. I think that One Step Closer and Crawling helped with that too. Numb however is absolutely their biggest and most successful song--I think it has more plays than any other of their catalogue, and the fact that the mashup with Jay Z was Numb/Encore pushed that even further. In The End was their breakout song--Numb was the song that cemented them. Great video guys, gonna leave two Linkin Park Recommendations here--Wretches and Kings, and P5hng Me A*way (Live In Texas). Have a great day guys.
There were many songs that cemented them. The breakout, I agree with you, was in the end. Crawling, one step closer, somewhere I belong, breaking the habit, numb, given up, many of them cemented them as undeniable banger creators. I am not a fan of their newer 2 records but to each his own. The only things I liked off the newer ones were wretches and kings and war. Also, I second pushing me away live in Texas as well as don't stay live in Texas.
Linkin Park's breakout hit is One Step Closer which was released in September 2000. Numb was released in 2003 on their 2nd studio alum Meteora. They won a grammy in 2006 for their collection with Jay Z. They also performed on the Grammys with Paul McCartney and Jay Z. They did Numb/Encore/Yesterday (Yesterday the Beatles song).
Such an incredible song. I don’t know why it makes me tear up watching them reacting to this. Numb is their second biggest song. In The End is their biggest hit.
This song got me through a lot of bad times when i doubted myself... Linkin Park was the voice of teenagers from the late late 90s well into the 2000s.
This is the biggest Nü Metal song ever and one of the greatest songs in the world, regardless of the genre. This is the anthem of an entire generation #RIPChester 🙏❤️
My grandfather had a 77 Lincoln Continental, he was legally blind but still drove it 4 blocks to the grocery store and back. He finally tapped a cop car one day and that was the end of his driving. Many happy memories riding in that car. Thanks for bringing them to my brain at the beginning of your reaction. RIP Chester, one of the great ones we all lost. LP has always been top of the playlist for a long time.
There is a video on RUclips where they have this video with Chester's vocals isolated. You shoukd check it out. The man was an incredible singer. R.I.P.
Somewhere I Belong is my favorite song by Linkin Park. I enjoy your reactions. Keep exploring, guys. There are so many amazing songs from different genres.
One of the most beautiful performances I've ever seen is Linkin Park covering Adele's Rolling in the Deep in London live, Chester takes it to a whole new level of raw emotion and it's an unforgettable performance, I know you guys will love it, please check it out someday💙✨🕊
Fun Fact: Linkin Park collaborated with Jay-Z to record a new version called "Numb/Encore" ("Encore" is from Jay-Z's 2003 The Black Album). Jay-Z handpicked Linkin Park as his partners for an MTV project that was supposed to involve bands creating mashups for an album and performing them on a TV special. Instead, Jay-Z and Linkin Park took over the whole thing and released their own mashup EP, Collision Course, and got their own half-hour MTV special. The star track, "Numb/Encore," won a Grammy in 2006 for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration; Linkin Park and Jay-Z performed it at the ceremony.
Linkin Park had their breakout with their debut album, Hybrid Theory; with their megahit "In The End". "Numb" is from their second album, Meteora. "Numb" is such a beautiful song. I think it really gets to the core of what it's like when you're not allowed to be authentically yourself; you become numb to yourself, and numb in your relationships, because you aren't actually there. Whether it's pressure from parents or peers that make you feel that who you are is not okay or not enough, it's hurts you deep inside. If people aren't hurting anyone, let them be who they are ❤
One Step Closer was their break out song off Hybrid Theory. I remember hearing that song on the radio and I just went and bought the CD next day as a teen.
In the End was Linkin Park's breakout song easily. Hybrid Theory had that one, One Step Closer and Crawling and is pretty much a flawless album. Their follow up, Meteora was maybe as good as Hybrid. Faint, Numb, Somewhere I Belong and Breaking the Habit were the standouts from that one. They were pretty much the soundtrack for the 2000s. Both Chester and Chris sang about topics that weren't really talked about in most rock songs for their time. Being able to express those topids with their iconic voices made them relatable to teens and young adults who were experiencing what was going on. Thats why music by artists like Linkin Park, Soundgarden and Audioslave continues to have lasting power.
You guys have to check out the band "Cultus Black" song either "Witch Hunt", "Lorelai" or "Nevemine" these guys will not disappoint and need all the recognition they are very good and will get bigger and better the more time goes by.
Morning guys! Did they take clips out of this video or am I tripping. Anyways like I've said before Linkin park got me through some serious dark times maybe even saved my life. RIP CHESTER❤️, this song especially got me thru....a self harming phase...I love Linkin park ❤️💯
You reacted to Numb/Encore before but you didn't react to just Numb. There are 4 more songs from Collision Course that you haven't reacted to yet. Those songs are Lying from You/Dirt off your Shoulder Jigga What/Faint Big Pimpin/Papercut Izzo/In the End I have a feeling you might also like their song High Voltage live Rock AM Ring 2001. It is a hip-hop song that Mike Shinoda wrote before Chester joined the band. Mike is the lead on the song.
I do believe that their break out hit was In the End. Their biggest hit was numb Paper Cut. ilI could be wrong on these but this is just from random articles I have read.
Greeting to both of you guyz!! Today, I'd LOVE to suggest a very trippy song entitled "Magic Candy", by the new French Canadian duo "Painted Out". No lyrics on this one and it doesn't need any to make you travel to space
I thought for sure this must be a repost because there's no way you haven't done Numb. Crawling is when I discovered them. Hope you guys do The Warning soon. Maybe their new song/video Six Feet Deep.
This is a really awesome mix of LP songs in a “Tribute to Chester Bennington ” by David Michael Frank & Grayson DeWolfe. ruclips.net/video/onRlL7G-34A/видео.htmlsi=WBV632yJaQ7cGDHf
i am a natural critic and tend to be antagonistic when it comes to artists that got mainstream flowers for cannibalising better acts. but Linkin Park always hit me as a nu metal boy band and an industry plant. not to take anything from Chester's obviously sincere delivery.
Numb has 2.2 Billion YT views. One of the biggest songs of any genre...ever. RIP Chester
Chesters passing was the first time a musicians death really hit me. Hybrid Theory was the first CD i ever bought when it came out (i was 10).
Sameeeeee
Wayne static for me.
Not a fan of LP, but Chester is commit suicide on my birthday (July 20). Really shocking is seeing post about him, after coming home from birthday party with my friends...
It was the second musician death to hit me after Chris Cornell and one of only four celebrity deaths along with Bray Wyatt and Akura Toriyama.
@@Morphine-jc9tethat’s awful. You shared the same birthday as .Chris Cornell too.
Its been 7 years and it still hurts. Chester will always live on in our hearts

Y'all need to do given up....one of the greatest screams in all music. Chester's 17 second scream is absolutely breath taking (pun intended 😂)
They have already done that video. Go check out

You guy’s definitely improved my Monday ❤
My friend in high school told me that music is emotion set down with math. This is the song I can point to where that is true! So damned good!
And no this was on their album Meteora while In The End was on the first album (also it was the second single)!
Yall gotta react to Gojira performing in the opening ceremony of the Olympics
YES by God this is a must. best mainstream metal moment in modern music
When this video first came out, I felt happy… but nowadays when I watch it again, I felt teary eyed… RIP Chester….
