Just got a Minilogue last week. Really enjoy it, but when I saw the trigger word of lo-fi, I knew this sad indie dad had to give it some retail space in my preset slots. The sound librarian was determined to not let me do this, but after pushing the ReceiveAll button - eh, maybe 10 times - I was in! On they went and I'm so pleased that I just forced this to happen. Thanks for making what I certainly did not have the time nor knowhow to do myself!! Also, all your other videos are wildly helpful - especially the MB2S ones!
I was literally updating my Korg last night and saw all the free packs on Korgs website! I spent 2 hours going through all the patches trying to narrow down what 200 I'd keep saved on my minilogue! Thank you thank you thank you!
It is pretty awesome that you write patches and send them out into the world where people write songs with them and also send those songs out into the universe. I still have some off your patches for my Deepmind. Your patches definitely have a certain sonic DNA to them. It is hard to explain, but your sounds waver around a lot in interesting ways. You also come up some wacky names. You need to write a novel, like a Clockwork Orange, which utilizes its own vocabulary!
Thank you so much for the great patches! And especially that they're for the original Minilogue! I held on to it instead of selling it to get the xd, and glad I did. As much as I envied the new one having FX, I instead opted for the Zoom MS70-CDR (based on your review a while back) and love pairing the two. Looking forward to exploring these patches and expanding the possibilities :)
Congrats on having yr patches official with KOrg. They sound great. I'm going to write a song with Onus Brass and I will send it to you to hear afterwards!
I just bought a prophet rev 2, and I was going to sell my minilogue, but they both compliment each other so well. Patches like this make me want to hold onto my minilogue.
Thank you and, yes, it's a shame that the architecture is different enough that they can't be directly translated. Maybe one day I'll be able to pick up an XD and try to replicate the vibe. So many synths, so little time!
Thank you! Korg are good for releasing free content. The two that got released today are numbers 6 and 7 for the Minilogue. Also great that they're still supporting it, even after the XD got released!
thx for these inspiring presets - making a very affordable second-buy minilogue the perfect analog addition to a very small digital setup, in my case the op-z with kaoss pad mini.
I just bought a Minilogue today and hadn't heard these patches until after but it's totally justified my purchase. Just proves that it can do warm fuzzy not just harsh metallic. Looking forward to trying these patches. 👍🏻
Super sad these can’t be used on the XD, love all these sounds. Any chance you’d do a tutorial on the basics of getting these lo-fi, wobbly type sounds?
Yeah I'd be open to that, but as a starter - close down the filter and up the resonance a bit, long, slow LFO to pitch, but only a tiny bit. On the XD the chorus would probably work well on top of the pitch wobble.
I mean, I would love to have the xd and I'm really excited about the Hydrasynth, but the original Minilogue is still just as awesome as it was when I first got it.
Great patches - just as I was pondering Faktorpad being used in a remake of Neon Lights, Aqualyre came up and I was like wow! (Don't get me wrong I liked many of the other patches before and after, just those stood out suddently...) Frajile and Rezonanx soon followed... I like how you decided to use the joystick in the programs. I am listening to this early in the AM with only one cup of coffee - I presume the L> is a lead, P> is pad, B> is bass, what is K>? I am not getting it at the moment, just not enough neurons online yet I think.
Very well written intro and awesome patches. I'm slowing saving up for the Minilogue. Do you have a Patreon account? I searched for you and only found a funny back and forth you had with Red Means Recording.
Thank you! No, no Patreon (but I do hang out on Jeremy's discord server!). If you want to support the channel, I have a couple of EPs up on Bandcamp that are "pay what you like" 🙂
Hi Oscillator Sink - I always wanted a Deepmind 6 (largely thanks to your videos) but they are impossibly expensive to import to my country. The Minilogue XD however was on sale and easy to get and mine arrives next week. I'd like to know if the minilogue compares in warmth (I love lofi warm pads and ambient music) to the DM6. Also, this is my 1st synth ever and I'm excited to learn so I hope I made a good choice. Thanks for your content!!
I've spent some time with the Minilogue XD and that's an excellent choice. Don't forget to explore some of the third party oscillators and effects you can install too.
Thank you. I don't think there's too much magic going on in that one. I think there's a little xmod between they two VCOs to destabilise the tuning a bit, then just a nice filter wobble from the LFO.
Hello, i was really trying to get this amazing patch on my minilogue, but I cant seem to work out how to connect to my MacBook with catalina. Do i use usb straight or do I need that USB driver that they have?
I think you need to use it straight, if you have the Korg driver installed then you need to uninstall it. You still need to use the Korg librarian software though. That said - I don't have a mac and I'm only getting that information from what I've just read, so if you can't get it to work based on that advice, you should contact Korg.
@@ukiemexican it's not just that - the LFOs and envelopes work differently too - but it would theoretically be possible to get close... I might put some thought into that. Or I could just get a an XD and make some patches for that.
Sadly the synthesis engine is different, so they aren't compatible - and I don't have an XD right now so I can't make any patches for that. But by all means petition Korg 😉

One thing i do not understand about the minilogue: I thought with an analog synth you had the manufactured oscillators filters ect and you could work within those parameters to create the patches possible for that instrument. How does it work when you or korg creates these new patches that have to be uploaded with a computer. Are those digital waveforms being modified through analog equipment ?
The patches you download are just a list of those parameters - just a bunch of knob positions. The Minilogue is analogue, but the knobs on the front panel are digital encoders so they don't actually have to be in the right position for each patch.
Hey, i couldn't find the patches in minilogue that i've downloaded from the internet do you know how to load patches to the minilogue?(i tried minilogue sound librarian btw but i couldn't manage to send the patches to minilogue) thank you in advance.

Tiptoeing around those reset to zero envelopes m8... :@ Wish there was a petition for a firmware update or summat.
Cheers! You can also set portamento to 0, which if I recall just hands the note off rather than restarting the envelope, right? Think most of my poly patches probably use that trick!
@@OscillatorSink yeah true. Means you don't get any timbral swells from the second envelope on the new note but it does reduce the number of contexts when it causes and issue. But yeh it's that tiptoeing thing.
Especially as this synth is begging to be used for slow pads. But I don't wana be too negative. Do love my minilogue. So that sounds like a single oscillator, probably Sawtooth, but then with the filter turned down a lot, a bit of resonance to get that vocal feel. The amp envelope should probably be a very low attack, decay and release and adjust the sustain and decay until you get that nice attack on the front of the note. Filter envelope I think is just attack set to zero, sustain to zero and decay long, with just a bit of envelope mod sent to the filter, just enough to keep it moving through the note. LFO to pitch via the joystick and obviously pitch bend. You want the voice to mono (which is unison on the XD I think? I don't have one so I might be misremembering), and turn the portamento to, like 3. Barely on. Just so you get that legato feel. I reckon I can hear just a touch of chorus on that part too, so try that. Hope that helps!
