Great review, got the 3x9 ones and prefer them to my old Shimano Sora's. Inexpensive enough to buy a spare pair for future use, stocking up as I like triples chainsets and 9 speed.

Triples are starting to go away specially with the 3x7 drivetrains. Personally I my opinion nothing will ever top the 2x7 freewheel drivetrains due to the wide chain making zero noise, the freewheel again being super quiet. The problem with the 10 speed systems is they required special cassettes that needed to have properly faced teeth on the sprockets. Some cheaper Chinese cassettes had the teeth not face or not angled properly which lead to shifting issues and a higher chain noise. I recently dealt with this nonsense and from a reliable company Miche with their 13-25 cassette that arrived with some of the sprocket teeth’s not angled properly on the 16 and 17 tooth sprockets. Had to take them out and vice them to set the proper angle. They were creating a small chain jump literally due to only one tooth being bent too far upward, this took a while to figure out since it has random. Never had this nonsense on my freewheel cassettes with the old 2 x 7 freewheel road bike. The move to DI2 had nothing to do with convenience or speed it was to fix the 11 speed shifter systems that could not handle too many shift changes and also the move to internal cabling up front on the handlebars. This idiotic move is a nightmare for bike mechanics now you have remove everything up front. Shimano now gave up and is going wireless like SRAM etap since all the internal cables are hated by everyone.

My girl has the 3x11 version of this.
She's been using it for almost a yr now and crashed plenty of times already and im impressed that they are more durable than thsy look.

Is it me or did that left shifter click way too many times for a 2 speed?

From other reviews it seems the left one sometimes does that as it was 3 speed

I agree with all your points in this video. I use these micronew shifters as well, I have the 3x7. They might not be as cool looking since its external cabling, however fixing it up would be a lot more easier. Very big point as well with braking and shifting up or down. These Micronew Shifters are the only ones that have the upshift and downshift on the same side. Kudos man! I love how they are cheap as well

My 3x7 set's 3 speed shifter has four speeds... Am I the only one with this problem?

Any idea how to adjust the lever reach for this shifter? I wanted it to be near as I have a smaller hand... 😔

I believe there is a small screw at the top of the hood ( pull top hood back a bit) like other STI shifters.

That's good, like I mention in the video the only downside to these shifters is the exposed shifting cables as they come out from the side. I don't like the new bikes with all the hidden cables as it a mess when you want to work on them.

You can simply use Sram DoubleTap, Only 1 shift lever, cables under bartape, fixed brake lever.

What about their longevity? Would they last as much as a Claris shifter?

I have been on them for while now and abused the crap out of them, let's cut the BS here my 105's are overpriced pieces of junk compared to these. They might look more pro but they sure as hell don't function anywhere near these cheap ones. I could care less for the name, it's the function and reliability that I am after. The Shimano 105 and even the r8000 group set which is on another bike here simply can't match these ones. It's the feel and how snappy they are to shift and brake that makes these very different. Also the 3 individual function makes it so no mistakes are made on corners as I mention here. I never understood why Shimano ever went to a 2 function mixed system with the brake lever, it's just not correct in the sense of safety and also creates many accidental shifts during cornering while on the drops. These are not for Pro's who need to save the extra 10 grams lol.

I heard micronew is a copy of microshift, or rather, the aliexpress version as it's cheaper. Tolerances are much loose with the machining of these things, vs the Microshifts that are very well made.

Thanks, this system is much safer than the STI style shifters which you have to use the brake lever to gear up the cassette. During cornering is when STI shifters become a danger. Thanks for the reply!!

  • @aaaaaa6583

These type of carbon shifters and brake levers are very dangerous and should come with hazard warning. As the aluminium eats away at the carbon. The rider is breathing in microdeposits of dangerous carbon fibre particles. Stay away from carbon fibre for health & safety reasons

    • @danfuerthgillis4483
      @danfuerthgillis4483  2 года назад

The handle bar is carbon but the shifters are alloy. Carbon destroys aluminum not the other way around. We also wrap tape around the carbon fibre handlebars but it is to keep the hands from sliding. Do you realize how expensive carbon fibre shifters are lol 😂
