So, the housing that comes with the Sword brifter set seem to be compressionless. Usually this is quite the upgrade. Am I correct on this? The brake cable when compared to Jagwire is identical when viewed from the cut end so it got me wondering...thanks for your quality offerings at reasonable price points. Sorry for the late reply! Sword has been much more popular than our distributors predicted, so most everyone is stocked out. We're fulfilling reorders as we speak, I hope availability is better by summertime. I'm just as concerned about it as you are.
Are there plans for flat bar SWORD shifters? I would imagine it's possible to mix and match from the advent (left shifter for 2x) and (right shifter to make use of 10 speed cassette) advent x range but then you'd have mixed parts and a redundant right shifter EDIT: Seems the 2x left shifter comes as a by itself so ignore comment about redundant right shifter. Regardless, it's an xpress style shifter which would not match with the quick trigger style.
Why isn't anyone talking about the fact that the reach adjustment is only about 5mm total? I bought these to replace the Advents on my wife's bike specifically for the adjustable reach and am very disappointed that they might as well not be adjustable.
@@microSHIFTTECH thanks for the response. There's plenty of throw for safe braking, even if the reach were 1-2 cm shorter, assuming the brakes are adjusted properly. No amount of throw will be enough if someone doesn't have their brakes set up correctly, and I think you have really blown an opportunity to add a valuable feature to these levers. Advertising them with adjustable reach when the adjustment is effectively zero is disingenuous. Furthermore, I would argue that not being able to reach the levers properly is much less safe than having a little less lever throw.
The cable pull is the same, so yes. The only problem is that Advent X rear derailleurs don't have a barrel adjuster so you would need to run an inline barrel adjuster to be able to adjust cable tension and dial in the shifting. Advent X flat bar shifters have a barrel adjuster but drop bar shifters don't.
Looks fantastic and an amazing step up from the advent X shifters. I can't find an RRP listed anywhere. Do you guys have a source for the sort of price these will go for?

Yeah, the bolt needs to be small because of the location within the shifter, but I get your point that it could be an easier adjustment.

The shifters come with brake and shift cables, so it sounds like something was lost in translation between you and your LBS.

We may come out with a dedicated flat bar 2x option at some point, but for right now we're focused on drop bar.

Sorry to hear that you're not happy. There's a limit to how my adjustment we can offer and still allow for safe braking.
