  • A Thai food classic... 'Moo palo' or braised pork and egg stew. The five spice braised pork and the soy sauce eggs combine in a flavour-packed broth that is just too irresistible. One of my favourite childhood dishes. I hope you guys enjoy it too!

What a great dish ... the paste is an added twist. I usually cook this stewed pork dish with pork leg and skin on ... and for an extra kick, add some dried chillies but will certainly try this paste. Thank you for churning out wonderful ideas for my family meals!

We have similar in Bali except we use the skin also and since Balinese usually don't use fresh coriander we just use the seeds . Either way I'd great! With the same spices we can use to braised short ribs

Not sure if it would work but what about, instead of putting the already hard boiled eggs in, why not poach the eggs in the simmering broth? Sounds awesome to me

    Paste:
    Pepper/salt/kimchay
    Oil/paste/pork (caramelized)
    Oyster/soy sauce/sugar/spices/stararnis/water/tofu (10m)
    Egg(1hr)

Do Thai people restrict themselves to locally grown and produced foods only? If not, I see no issue with this.

Wow, if you think this way, you must really hate Australians as we use ingredients from every part of the world in our cuisine. I guess your comment reflects this given Marion is Thai/Australian. 🐨

I dont like using Palo powder cause when you're done, you have a sludge powder at the bottom. Instead, I make a caramel, brown the pork in it, then saute the pepper, garlic and cilantro. I add the palo powder, paste that I just sautee'd, and anise and cinnamon in a boil bag. This keeps the stew dark and clear. Not muddy or turbid.

braise pork skin is delicious. you should not trim it out. for sugar, should also use palm sugar, better for it.
