      tried to make some stuff on a sequencer simulator from that era and lets just say it felt more like coding than making music lmao

      One thing I find difficult these days is I don't have technical limitations to overcome and inspire creativity. I started with a Tascam 244 then I modified it so I could sync my Atari to it. Then I got a 16-track digital multitracker and even that had limitations. But now there are more possibilities than I can handle and I'm forever stuck in analysis paralysis! 🥺

      It was great fun using a rather souped up Amiga 1200, then later an even more souped up Amiga 2000. We cut some nice dub plates at Music House in Tottenham in 1995 - 98. Have fun and try to experiment as much as possible when you have nailed the fundamentals.

      I thinnk one of the ways this channel shines is even with the unlimited tracks and plug ins available Mr Forms demonstrates traditional ways of doing things as if he was using the classic gear, sampling chords into the samplers, artifical echos using veloicity and the video on the TAL sampler showed deep knowledge of the old Akais as well etc. Just great stuff.

      I have not! I've been studying up on my 90s trance over the past few weeks though ;) Also, there is a dude on RUclips, Enigma State, who puts out 90s style trance on an old Atari ST, go check him out, really good music & he's doing it the legit oldschool way

    This is the closest to intelligent dnb tutorial that i can find but still not the intelligent im looking to make. as the jungle tekno series is atmospheric jungle. The newest in the series was released in 1994. 2 whole years before “intelligent” dnb was a thing.
    Intelligent dnb uses breaks yes but chopped up to make a typical dnb pattern or a closely linked dnb pattern. You have the synths down spot on.
    But you used a jungle break pattern which makes it atmospheric jungle not intelligent dnb. But in some cases could be classed as intelligent.
    If you would like some examples I’ll list here:
    Johnny L - Underwater Communication
    Sci - clone - everywhere I go (remix)
    Kemistry & Storm - artcore 4 (1997)
    Bailey - intelligent drum & bass (1996)

    fast arp that makes notes sound like shimmering a chord-pad FUCKIN BRILL, love it. there goes the weekend! Thanks 👍 Question are you worried about any piled up transients by layering breaks or is it better to worry with it in the mixdown?

    • @Thought-Forms
      @Thought-Forms  9 месяцев назад +1

      arpeggiating pads = s tier. have another video on my channel that goes more in depth on the concept (titled: "Use This Device To Transform Your Ambient Pads".) and not at all, if it becomes a problem I'll typically just clip / compress on either the break level or drum group level (or both)

    • @nsjx
      @nsjx 9 месяцев назад

      ok, i'll give it a gander in the wknd. thanks for the other info too. will investigate the patreon in the eknd too because i've never chopped breaks before but i am intrigued to learn as i like this music (i sadly miseed out on because i was a rivethead back then ha...which i neither regret ;))

    • @Thought-Forms
      @Thought-Forms  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks mate! Great suggestion, that game was brutal. I know they used a lot of samples (very similar production technique to the silent hill OSTs) - think some of the Zero-G ambient stuff
